Finestra is all about atmosphere. High ceilings, elegant interiors, very old-world European, almost old-Berlin in spirit. The room feels grand without being intimidating. There's live music too, a singer with a piano, which adds to the mood and makes the evening feel special.
We started with the burrata, the white cheese I couldn't remember earlier. Creamy, fresh, and simple, a great way to begin the meal.
For pasta, we had the pappardelle with beef ragù. Rich, comforting, and well balanced. The sauce clung nicely to the wide noodles, and the beef was deeply flavorful without being heavy.
For the main, we shared the Australian ribeye, cooked perfectly to medium. Juicy, well seasoned, and clearly a strong point of the kitchen. We paired it with the cauliflower gratin on the side, which was indulgent and satisfying, a good match for the steak.
Dessert was a pleasant surprise. The panna cotta had a nice twist, topped with raspberry sorbet and fresh strawberries and blueberries. Light, refreshing, and not overly sweet, a smart way to end a rich meal.
They also brought out a complimentary chocolate cake for my birthday, which was a thoughtful and much appreciated gesture. To finish, we were served limoncello to cleanse the palate, a classic touch that wrapped things up nicely.
One of the highlights was the tableside liquor and chocolate cart. It's essentially a roaming dessert and digestif cart with spirits and handmade chocolate bonbons. We tried the Baileys chocolate ball, which was excellent, and the hazelnut ball, equally good. Fun, indulgent, and very on brand for the setting.
Price wise, it is definitely on the expensive side, but that's expected. You're paying not just for the food, but for the ambiance, the live music, the service, and the overall experience.
