Stopped in for lunch upon several recommendations in a restaurant group that I'm in. All of the food that we ordered was very good but the posole and carné de puerco con chilé taco were OUTSTANDING. I was very much reminded of the food back home in New Mexico. The taco is what we call carné adovada and it was amazing. It was a busy brunch hour but the server was fast and efficient. While I haven't had lunch there, I live less than 1 mile away, and this is one of my favorite breakfast taco spots. Their bacon, egg, & cheese is mixed and delicious! They also have my favorite bean & cheese and bean, cheese, & bacon in the city. Great salsa ranchera on their huevis rancheros and chilaquilas. Opt for their red sauce for the tacos. It's not as killer spicy as Garcia's orange habanero salsa but packs a serious punch and much more flavorful. I have had their menudo, and while it's different from the menudo my mama used to make and different from my all time favorite at Taqueria Chapala Jalisco, it's still really good. And I'm very lucky abitu my menudo. I have bought over 70 tacos from here before for a work event without any issue. I'm looking forward to trying them for lunch sometime, but will keep going backnfor breakfast. Please note that as of 10/14/21 they do require masks to enter. All staff and customers waiting for to go food and not actively eating, sitting at a table had masks without any issues or complaints. They also do charge .50 for a card charge and indicate pricing has increased as of 6/5/21. Just as my personal grocery bill.has increased, so has that of out local businesses. In a time where food and shipping prices have skyrocketed I understand and fully accept these changes that our local small businesses are having to put in place. read more

The bright orange building is unmistakable from the Hildebrand/Blanco intersection. We stopped by because we had a craving for texmex enchiladas. I was not very impressed. The enchiladas were very small and lacked flavor. I also ordered tortilla soup to go. The soup was flavorful and full of vegetables, avocado and cheese. I love Fina's!!! I went for breakfast with a couple of my friends and we knew as soon as we walked in that we would have a great time. Warm environment, friendly staff. Our waitress Leo was very animated, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. She definitely made our experience special! I'm a sucker for breakfast tacos and there's were great! Their flour tortillas are bomb. It was my birthday and my friend told the staff without me knowing and I was shocked how big of a deal they made birthdays. I wasn't expecting it at all since this is more of a hole in the wall type place, but they go hard! They BLASTED a happy birthday song, had a cupcake and birthday candle, a sombrero, and confetti. The staff sung and clapped and the whole restaurant got involved. They made me feel very special, I would definitely return here for a friend's birthday. Fina's is where I go when Tink a Tako line is too long on the weekends. I stick to the basics and usually get bean and cheese and bacon and egg. The tortillas are good and taste home made. My only complaint is that the tacos are small. I haven't tried their lunch menu but overall Fina's is good and consistent. read more

I'm not even playin' when I give this place 5 stars! Mis abuelos have been coming here for years and for good reason. The food is amazing... and ridiculously cheap. After a long day of shopping on Black Friday, we were all in need of some tasty grub. After dropping off tons of bags at my grandparents' house, we headed to Fina's. This place isn't fancy, but it's not a dump either. It's nice enough for a very casual date, casual biz lunch or dining with the fam. Look around to find youngens on lunch break, regulars chowing down on the regular and others who are in the know with this Mexican oasis. (That's you now.) Lunch specials are abundant offering a plethora of items under 6 bucks. Their menu consists of many different tacos (breakfast too-yum), caldos, enchiladas, salads, and many other AUTHENTIC goodies. We had a very nice waitress who seemed to really love working there, plus she spoke Spanish to my abuelita so I thought that was very sweet. I had a combo plate that involved a puffy taco and cheese enchiladas. There was not a scrap left on my plate.. and if there was my brother ate it. The chips and salsa that they bring to the table are the best I have ever had. Really. The best. Also the best.. really... are the tortillas. They are served hot, flaky and puffy. Logan V gave Fina's 5 stars, so when I was in the area in need of lunch, I knew his recommendation would not lead me astray. I would give Fina's 15 stars if I could. It was exceptional. Plus, anytime all the reviews for a Mexican restaurant in San Antonio compare it to the yelper's abuelita's cooking, you know you have to give it a shot! So, parking is very tough to come by. Not because the lot is particularly small, but more to do with the fact that it is packed all the time. Also a good sign, no? I found a spot and made my way inside where I was met by fellow yelper and we sat down to enjoy a fantastic Tex-Mex meal. Their lunch specials range from $5.99 to $8.99. I opted for Enchilades Mexicana. WAY too much food for one person to eat all by their lonesome. But, so delicious I tried my best. The red gravy and queso fresca on top of the enchiladas was my favorite part but the beans and rice could easily take 1st place against most places I've been around town. And I've been around... The salsa verde was so spicy and delicious I could have eaten it with a spoon but thankfully the bottomless basket of handmade chips kept showing up at our table so I didn't have to. To start with took way to long for the breakfast we ordered and the plates were tasteless beans were like candy sweet for an unknown reason trying to pass off package tortillas as homemade with horrible service left with empty coffee cups. Had to look for another waitress to filled them If you're suggesting this restaurantto anybody else you are outright lying to yourself, and to others. Over priced and was not informed of any additional charges due to switching a Chalupa to a puffy taco, even though you asked the waitress. My rating is zero stars they're not worth that. Fina's has been around for at least 10 years.. It is a nice hole in the wall on the corner of hildebrand and Blanco. The caldo de res is wonderful. Hand made flour tortillas with your meal. Chips and salsa and guess what folks this ain't no chain so they don't charge you for the chips!! The salsa is nicely spicy but not overboard. The hard shell for the tacos I don't particularly care for. The taco texture, taste is basically your tortilla chip. I prefer my taco shell not to be as thick.. It's still good. Fina makes the best beans, there has got to be lard in there to give it that wonderful flavor.. read more

This review is long overdue! I first visited Fina's Kitchen years ago, when our kiddos were in elementary. Fast forward to the present and not a lot has changed. Same great service and yummy tacos. According to my daughter who is now in college, they have the absolute best potato and egg tacos in San Antonio! In addition to the delicious food, what I really like is that the owner and staff genuinely appreciate your business! After not visiting Fina's in quite some time, I was impressed when the owner asked how our youngest son was doing by name! WOW!! Such a nice touch! read more

I've been coming here on and off for years but usually because my friends want to who live nearby. Waitresses play favorites even to the point of switching your plate of food right in front of you to give their favored patrons (my friends who come here more often than I) the bigger plate or larger taco; really amazing - as if I wouldn't notice? Maybe they should just give equal portions to begin with so as to avoid such unprofessional and biased treatment of their guests. Average to poor food. I used to get tacos but decided on plates in recent months as the tacos were not well cooked. Taste and texture is sometimes on but mostly off. And not to mention, as stated already, rather inconsistent amounts of taco filling. Loud environment and clientele. I've been joining a friend across the street at Rolando's for breakfast on Sundays for a few weeks and I always notice they have a nice crowd over there so we thought we'd give them a shot. Like a lot of taquerias in town, the parking situation is not ideal. There are fewer spaces than tables so you try to fit in where you can. It's a nice facility and I do agree with one of my fellow Yelpers, I think the structure of the ceiling inside, although pretty, tends to amplify the sound in there because it is loud. Service is friendly, but leisurely. There seems to be no urgency to get orders in or out. The tortillas are hot and absolutely fresh, but bland as compared to their neighbors across the street. The table salsa is good, a little on the sweet side and again not as good as their competition at Rolando's who give you three options with varying degrees of heat. I ordered the calabacita con puerco, one of my favorites and my friends had tacos and a picadillo plate. It was a good half hour before our order came out. Granted, this is pretty standard taqueria fare but it was thoroughly underwhelming. The usual should be done so well that it surprises you at how good it is. My first note on the picadillo plate was that the beans and the picadillo was equally watery so they leveled out together. There was no nice, healthy heap of tasty meat and potatoes, but more of a pair of puddles. A taste proved bland. The same went for the tacos. We had to guess at the contents of one tortilla because what we thought was potato and egg, which was not on the order, actually turned out to be chicharon and egg, which was. The taco was literally only the two ingredients on the menu, chicharones and egg, no salsa, nothing else but a monochrome, white party of blah. My calabacita looked like it has been roasted in the oven rather than stewed in a pot, but that would have been okay, if the flavor had been there. There were only the ghostly vestiges of what should have been a celebration of tomato, cumin, bay leaf and garlic. If you have a sensitive stomach and need a place that won't upset your delicate composition, this is the taqueria for you. If you like flavor and are in the area, look across the street to Rolando's. read more

This place is the best! The enchilada sauce is absolutely amazing and everything I have tried has been delicious. The staff is super friendly and very prompt you never wait long for anything you need. Their green salsa is spicy but addictive you can't help but pour it over everything. My husband has been coming here for 20 years and now me for 3. I couldn't ask for a better Mexican food place and there are LOTS in San Antonio. This place is far from us but we still manage to eat here about once a week. If you haven't tried this place you are definitely missing out. read more

I live in the area and this was my 2nd time since it opened several years ago. Now I remember why I haven't been back. I ordered the Caldo de Rez and it was bland with no flavor. It had very little vegetables and hardly any meat. The server never came back to refresh my drink or ask if I needed anything else. When I got to the cash register to pay, the attendant asked me if I wanted to leave a tip. I told her no, that the server never came back to check on me. She gave me a smirk and nodded her head.
