Great credit union overall! Friendly staff, great rates, and the mobile app is easy to use. I've never had any issues with FPCU.

First let me say I have been banking with this company since 2006. The only benefit I have ever received from this Credit Union is financing a car. I have always kept a generous balance and a good credit score. I was approved recently for a $32,000.00 car loan that I didn't take, but I was declined a personal purchase loan for $5,000.00. I was bothered enough to go and ask why in person. All the reason's were not well taken and FPCU lied about my credit being a 687 when even on my personal bank app it was listed as a 704 in real-time, and my other two scores were even higher. I have my on thoughts on why I was turned down but I won't say because only God knows the truth. If you want more than a car loan, I suggest you put your money in a organization that will help you achieve goals. read more

They have friendly and knowledgeable staff when you have a need for personal banking and an excellent app for everything else. I don't know why others are so negative about Financial Plus Credit Union. I have never had a problem with them. I live in Central Florida now that I moved here in 2009. I do most of my banking via computer, rarely telephone. They have served me well over the years. Always friendly staff. Last year, while on vacation near Flint, I lost my wallet. 1st time that I can remember. I called them, and with no ID whatsoever, they told me to come in. I did, it took me less than 20 minutes to get a working debit card. I was also scammed at least twice in the last 18 months....on my debit card. They took care of it over the phone. I had to wait about 4 days to get a new card, but that was a minor inconvenience. I love Financial Plus! read more

The worst company possible to do a load with. My boat loan is through them, and despite making all of my payments, they consistently threaten me and ask more and more documentation. Do not get a loan through them. They are horrible at communication and make it very hard to pay them while sending threats in the mail even if your account is current. read more

Place is terrible. They charge you to cash a check written from their own establishment. You can't cash a check of theirs and their drive-thru. And if their Lobby is closed they won't cash the check through the drive-through even though they're open. I've had to wait 1 hour through the drive-thru when the coronavirus is happening. I would see cars pull up in the next Lane and people would be there 10 minutes and have your cashes checks cashed and I'll still be waiting. It is 2020 yet you can not make a loan payment on line. I pay every bill we have on line or over the phone except for this one. They make you mail in a payment or visit a branch unless you open an account with them and pay directly from that account. I guess that's one way to ensure they have customers. Very poor customer service so we will definitely not be getting another vehicle/camper loan through them. read more

1987 called, they want their banking services back. FPCU is designed for those that hate convenience, love hidden fees, and welcome outdated procedures. If you need something simple like your account number, simply call, hold for 15 min, give your SSN, birth date, location of account opening and make and model of your vehicle. Sure, ALL other institutions list this info on their login page, but FPCU is vintage banking! Want to connect a non FPCU account? Sorry, those options are for other, more advanced institutions. The octogenarians that use FPCU, their primary focus, don't like "technology" or "convenience." They prefer rotary phones and stamps. If you qualify, use USAA or ANY other financial institution. read more

Dan with 5 stars clearly must work at this place. Worse experience of my life with financial institution. God forbid the owner of the account or loan passes away. I have never seen such an incentive approach and complete lack of customer service. Run from this place. For me to go out of the way to write this review says something. The customer service desk needs help! The line is NEVER less then a 20 minute wait. It's the same guy who didn't solve the problem the first time & takes 20 minutes a person. There was 5 people in line, it's was people standing to the entrance door. Not another CU employee to help. Plenty of CU employees walking past but no help for the guy sitting at the customer service desk. I left after 35 minutes. read more

I was just trying to pay a car payment.... They DO NOT make this easy.... If you call at the end of your grace period...... It's going to cost you 15 dollars over the phone for it to post THAT day... Otherwise its 10 dollars for the next business day, and you can't pay online The lady told me its a different process... Now we all know that is a line of BS... So mad I drove INTO Flint to pay it.... I was on the phone checking rates everywhere... and Yes, found a new home for this loan. read more

Going downhill fast. Rude customer service rep I talked to today blew off my problems of not getting payments deposited into my account. She didn't even look into it or pull up my account info. Previously they sold me on an investment advisor that was on-site. He ended up never responding to emails or calls, and then left his position last fall. My account then wound up in the hands of some guy in Minnesota who doesn't respond to any calls either. My mom used to work for Financial Plus, and I've been with them since I was 1, but I'm about to close my account. The place is going way downhill. Avoid at all costs. read more

Every time I come to the branch on Van Slyke, it is always a very long wait time, at least 20 minutes. Use the Fenton branch instead. It's much faster. read more
