We were clients of The Financial Consulate for several years. In a bull market, this financial advisor performed well for us (as almost all do during a bull market). We were not upset over the 2008 downturn as that was "across the board" but even several years after that, performance was dismal. We transferred everything to another advisor and our portfolio took off like a rocket that is still soaring. Furthermore, our advisory fees are thousands less since we left The Financial Consulate. Tax preparation by The Financial Consulate was a nightmare each and every year. Each and every year it was necessary to examine our prepared return line by line to correct mistakes. So glad we got away! My reason for this review is that very recently I was reminded that at one time I strongly endorsed this organization and I must now withdraw that endorsement. read more

The advisors there have been a constant source of help and expertise in just about all areas related to my finances. They will meet with you anytime you like and have even helped with decisions related to care for my mother, who is having some challenges with dementia. I continue to recommend STAY AWAY from the Financial Consulate in Hunt Valley. I have departed from them for about six months now and my portfolios have been growing consistently with my new firm. Financial Consulate is not woman friendly and does not like to answer questions and now I know why. When you consistently lose money for three years and then have some very low growth and then ask what you think are reasonable question don't wait for their angry responses. Stay away from people who don't have your best interest in mind. My money was working for them not me. I realize now that my fees paid to them were more than I ever earned on the accounts. Slick.
