I scheduled a visitation at 11 AM for my best friend of 12 1/2 years. After taking care of the payment and paperwork I was led to the visitation room, The moment I laid eyes on the deceased I turned and said that's not my dog to which I was met by that's not possible, I tapped my phone and said this is Eli that is not. I was left in the room with the unknown deceased dog until I went outside to collect myself. I was then told they were on the phone with the vet to figure out where Eli is. They finally said Eli was there but due to human error Eli was already cremated. I was supposed to see my best friend for the last time today, Instead I was traumatized for life and will never know who I actually brought home. I am disabled and unable to work Eli was my heart and world instead of seeing my best friend and kissing his head for the last time I will always question whether or not it was my baby I brought home. This was our first experience dealing with the traumatic hardship of losing a beloved pet and the AMC we took our pet to only deals with the Final Gift crematory in Oxford, CT which was almost 2 hrs away from us. They wouldn't let us change the location so we had no choice. I emailed a few times, called, and really wanted confirmation that the remains were going to be my beloved pet. I paid for the private cremation, viewing, an engraved urn, a foot print, and saw the beginning of the cremation on a tv screen. One last goodbye to my baby was heartbreaking but well worth it. We watched the guy putting our baby in the crematory and close the door. Everything was great until we picked up the remains and the foot print. The certificate had some other pet's name on it. We got clover and her two sisters as babies for our three daughters, one for each of them, and loved them as they lived on our property with us as part of the family. We used this service to have her cremated so we could bring her home to be with her two sisters (who had passed earlier than she). However, Clover never came home, because she was treated as garbage after being thrown away in a "mass dumping". There was no way of finding her or bringing her home as she was seemingly treated as garbage. Staff were entirely unapologetic, blaming each other instead of offering any help to our grieving family. We were looking for answers for over a month before anyone was able to admit what had happened. when we asked questions about how this could happen, we were mocked by the staff. Our vet said that in all their years in service, they have never seen this happen. The urn, first of all, came without the engraving and they are forcing me to go back to the traumatic place my pet just DIED to BRING BACK the unengraved urn and pick up a fixed one. I went to pick up my cat's ashes today and the urn, paperwork, and paw print had the wrong pet's name on them. It left me wondering if I got the correct ashes back. When I brought my cat into the vet, the person helping me at the time clarified my cat's name with me. And it was written down correctly. Worst review possible. The cremation and other products (paw print, etc.) were all professional. But they subcontract to another company the nameplate for the urn/box holding the cremation ashes. And this subcontractor cannot get our text right. They've made errors on three different attempts. It's such an insult to my deceased pet, it's caused me rising, unnecessary upset. The customer service member dealing with the issue is considerate and professional. I feel for her. I lost my dog Reba 4 weeks ago. I received her ashes today with a note that said they couldn't get a fur clipping that I had paid for, and had tried to reach me several times to no avail but didn't want to delay returning her. That never happened. No one called or emailed me, and when I reached out to them last week (week 3, although I will give them the benefit of the doubt due to time for her necropsy), they told me it would be another 10-14 days before I got her home, no mention of the fur. So, the package arrives 10 days later with a card that basically puts the blame on me for the absence of the fur WHEN I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS LOOKING FOR HER. Not only is it insulting when your heart is already broken, but I don't trust that it's even her ashes in the box because this happened, they never communicated it to me, and tried to lie to me about it. I didn't know the protocol on how they would take dead pets from the hospital to the crematory. My dog died april 28 and he was cremated May 5 per the certificate. I was physically ill for days after this. It was explained to me they pick up for animal control and a deceased skunk was put into the van with our beloved animals' remains on the way to the vet clinic to bring everyone's pets remains back. Update: This facilities' response is insulting. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. First, the response from this facility is nearly a year belabored. The events occurred how I described and it's even more insulting to reopen a closed wound by attempting to insinuate that I either misunderstood and/or was offered options & services in a way that truly never happened. I was never offered or allowed to view the cremation; I was also told that I HAD to pay prior to Max's pick up. HOW DARE YOU say that I did not want to view the cremation. I NEVER called to say I didn't want to attend the cremation. I called twice to insist and you said that isn't allowed. Your version of events is complete crap. Re-evaluate your "story" because its a complete fabrication of the truth. As far as Max's remains: we have them and they are indeed in a plastic bag. Your apology/justification is unacceptable. I'm not particularly happy with the service that I received. My experience was very cold and transactional. I'm very wary about using this facility in the future. First, I was recommended this facility because of their reputation. I called in on the day of my pets euthanasia. I was pressed to make arrangements on the spot. Second, I was told I had to pay over the phone (which was extremely uncomfortable). I did since I felt I had no other choice at the moment. Third, I wanted to stay with my pet until he was picked up from the vet. I was told by Paul that he didn't know when his guys would be there to pick my Max up so then I requested to come to the facility to check out the grounds and asked to view the cremation. I was told by Paul again that they do not allow viewings but I was assured that Max would receive an individual cremation. Fourth, I had to argue with Paul to get my pet tag ID that's advertised on this website. Paul informed me that the tags were really for their records and not for mine. I told him I wanted to ensure I was getting my Max back since I wasn't allowed to come view the cremation. Paul finally conceded and called me back to give me the tag number. This was his first call to me--I had to follow up every other time, even when he said he would call me back. Fifth, Max was placed in a plastic bag. Not the specialized container advertised on this site. I'm thoroughly upset about this. Finally, the wooden urn with his name carved into it was actually pretty lovely. It is cherry wood and his named is engraved in gold etching. I just wish the service was as nice as the urn. read more

My husband and I took our Guinea pig to be cremated. I have to say we were left unimpressed by the service. The prices were a higher than we had experienced at the other company which used to be located at this same location ( Faithful Companion Pet Cremation). We looked past the price hike seeing as how it is a different company (currently, Final Gift Memorial Center), and we really wanted to have our pet cremated asap (but, just a heads up, each extra service like paw prints (in ink) are $30 extra! That's a little excessive in my opinion). They did not have our pet ready when they said they would, when we called to ask when we could pick her up they referred to her as being 'packaged' hopefully by the following Monday. Being that they are in the business of cremating beloved pets I feel as though they should learn to be a little more sensitive and not refer to them as being 'packaged', the whole thing felt very impersonal to be honest. Lastly, when it was time to pick up Mocha's remains, her carrier and her little blanket which was inside the carrier, were not returned to us. All in all I would not recommend this business to anyone who has lost a beloved pet and is looking for good service, good prices and closure. We went into this with high hopes since we had cremated two other pets at this location (when it was owned by a different company and couldn't have been happier with the service back then). When my 11 year old cat passed away suddenly in the middle of the night, I spent the next morning frantically trying to figure out what I was supposed to do. After a little googling I gave Faithful Companion a call, and arranged to bring my cat in. When I arrived, Paul was so kind. He helped me get my cat out of the car and bring her in. We went over the options, I paid, and then I was able to say one final goodbye to my sweet girl. He never made me feel rushed, silly for being so emotional, or anything. He was kind and compassionate the whole time, which was so appreciated. I was able to pick her up the next day, but waited a day since it was more convenient for me. I was able to easily pick up her ashes in the beautifully engraved box and her paw print, and was on my way (sobbing in the car, of course). We had a very great experience here. My mom's cat Squeaky, passed away at home at 16 years old. I went searching for a cremation place nearby that will allow my mom to witness that it's him and only him going into the cremation unit. I was relieved when I found Final Gift previously named Faithful Pet Cremations. I spoke to Kimberly on the phone who was very nice, understanding, answered my questions, and set the appointment. When we got there, we were attended by a nice, helpful guy named Andrew. He helped my mom pick the urn she wanted and the engraving. The room to say our final goodbyes and to witness was very comforting. There's a small bed to lay the pets on, beautiful plaques/decor all around the walls, a comfortable sofa, tissues, hand sanitizer and even books to read. I had to bring my 2 kids with us so the children's book about losing a pet was a great touch for them while we waited. Xavier was so respectful and patient standing aside while we saw Squeaky through a window to witness him going into the cremation unit. He was so gentle and caring as he placed Squeaky inside. That made my mom happy to see. We waited in that room for an hour and got his remains. Thank you everyone at Final Pet for making this difficult time just a little bit easier. Pet cremation services are not anything a pet owner wants to use, and yet at some point, you will. We needed to cremate our dog Dusty after his battle with cancer and Faithful Companion's website led us to believe they were compassionate. Fortunately, that was true. The entrance you first walk into is not as welcoming as you might want, but the area where they allow you to say goodbye to your pet was lovely. Though my mother did not make an appointment before bringing Dusty there, she found that she could not say goodbye to him without one and they were able to accommodate her a few hours later on the same day. This appointment allowed her to spend some final minutes with Dusty and watch him be loaded into the cremation chamber with his bed. This loving touch allowed her some real peace of mind. They treated Dusty and my mother with complete respect at this very emotional time. We were also pleased that they provided us a nice wooden box with engraving at no extra charge. It is a wonderful touch and though we may replace the box in the future, "Dusty, No Ordinary Dog" is an engraving we chose at that sad moment and it is perfect for now as we grieve our extraordinary dog. read more

I didn't know how I'd decide which one to use, but as soon as I talked to Paul at Faithful Companion I immediately knew who I wanted to have take care of her! He spoke with such compassion, and he took time to explain everything...even listening to my sentimental ramblings when anyone else would have rushed into the business details. In terms of business details, they do set themselves apart in ways like picking your pet up within an hour of receiving the request, assigning one person to accompany your pet throughout the process, engraving of the box is included, remains are ready within 24 hours, and they encourage in-person pickup out of respect for the pet (although shipping is available). My Family and I would like to thank Faithful Companion Services @ Marocco Funeral Home on Colfax Avenue in Clifton, NJ for providing us with the most empathetic, and impeccable services for our deceased Family Cat "Leo". Leo was 18 & 1/2 years old. He was an enormous part of our Family. We believe he actually grew a soul with us as St Francis said was possible. We were devastated when he became terminally ill. We were with him every step of the final hospice process, and by the Grace of God were able to prevent euthanasia and allow Leo to die at home comfortably and with dignity, with all of us at his side at his final moment.... which did break our hearts. Leo passed away at home at 11:30 PM on Friday, December 13th, 2019. The following morning on Sunday we took his body to Faithful Companion at Marocco Funeral Home. We were greeted by Mike. Mine was extremely empathetic to our situation. He carefully explained all types of services offered. He also saw how broken up we were and consoled us by telling us the story of how his dog passed away and how he handled it with his Family. He couldn't have been any better. The services are very very fairly priced.... a basic cremation for an average cat begins at $230.00 and can go up from there based on any additional services requested or on the type of urn or container for the creamains chosen. My Wife and I chose to have Leo's paw print casted into a plaster heart, and to have clippings of his fur sealed in plastic and we chose the basic cherry wood box container for the cremains. Mike allowed us our final moment for closure with Leo's body, and he consoled us yet again. We left. Two hours later Mike called us back and told us everything was done. We returned. Mike not only properly cremated Leo... placed his remains in the box picked... engraved the box exactly as we requested... and clipped his fur... but instead of giving us one ceramic heart with paw cast.... he included a second at no charge. He again consoled us and told us he understood our pain. Mike was better than great. Our entire procedure ran about $265.00. It was money well spent to not only have final closure with Leo... but to keep him with us forever. I wanna give Mike and all Faithful Companion staff 5 out of 5 Stars. My 11 year old dog passed away after battling cancer. We called two places to find out about private cremation services before finding Faithful Companion. Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in NY and Pets Rest in Peace in Secaucus. The guy who answered the phone at Hartsdale was very matter of fact, with no compassion whatsoever. At Pets Rest in Peace, the person's attempt at compassion sounded forced and disingenuous. Anthony at Faithful Companion, however, was both compassionate and professional and treated us with the utmost respect, listening to our needs and explaining their process. Within a day of her passing, they were able to pick her up and transport her to the crematory. We met them there and were able to say goodbye and waited the 1 1/2 hours until her ashes were ready to bring home. This was exactly what we needed. I think this will be the saddest and most depressing positive review I've ever written. My furry cat family member passed away at the ripe old age of 19 without warning. It was a very sad day just like losing a human family member there are a lot of questions and worrying about what to do next. Most people that have never owned a pet will look at you very oddly if you bring up what to do with the remains of an animal. The vet we took my cat to has a bereavement coordinator (who, of course wasn't in on the day I was there...just my luck) who helps you go through the steps. I picked this place because it was at random, however once I started talking to the gentleman that helped me, I knew I had picked the right place. I didn't have a lot answers to the questions, but he was patient and I apologized for being a mess, but that was ok. If I ever have to go through it again, I would use their services.
