Peter and his team did an excellent job on the exterior painting of our house and garage. They were extremely thorough and very detailed. They spent a good amount of time prepping, taping, and covering windows to make sure the job was done neatly. They also sanded peeling/chipped paint and patched holes in the stucco. They were respectful of our property and also our neighbors' property that they needed to access to paint the side of our house. Peter is very knowledgeable about paint brands, colors, and finishes. He had helpful recommendations for things we hadn't even considered, like painting the porch floor a lighter color to contrast the darker walls so it didn't feel like a dark cave and selecting a flat finish to avoid highlighting places where the stucco was patched. We hadn't picked all the paint colors before the job started and Peter stopped by on his day off on the weekend to share samples of paint colors that he obtained for us from the store. We really wanted a bright color for our door and even though it required many coats, Peter was willing to do the extra work to make the bright yellow look good. Peter was heavily involved in both overseeing his team and in doing a lot of the work himself. Every morning he met with his crew and gave very detailed instructions on exactly how he wanted everything done. He was on site for the entire job making sure everything was done properly. When they finished the work they did a good job cleaning up. Peter and the team were extremely responsible, honest, and very talented. The cost was reasonable considering the high quality of the work and craftsmanship. I needed to get the entire inside of our newly purchased home painted before moving in, and Peter and his team at Final Coat Painting did an excellent job. I got bids from multiple companies, and while Peter's wasn't the cheapest, he was the most detail oriented. He noticed cracks in my ceiling, asked about ideas for accent walls, and carefully reviewed the different sheen options I had. He seemed to be very thorough, and the last thing I wanted was a bad job done so I went with him for the job. It was an absolute pleasure working with him. He gave me frequent updates, and if I asked for a picture of his work, he would send one my way. Paint selection with him was actually a super fun process. We picked three paints, and he put ALL THREE paints in EVERY room of our house so we could see all three colors in the different rooms with different lighting. Final Coat Painting came to the rescue with fast, high quality work! My husband and I decided we would paint our bedroom ourselves, because how hard could it be? We went to Sherwin Williams one weekend, asked the rep what we needed, and came out with $200 in products/equipment that we had no idea what to do with. The rep had strongly sold us on using a shellac primer for our walls that turned out to be highly toxic to breathe in and was completely unnecessary. We also learned very quickly we are not good at painting... With a poorly primed wall and a bedroom in disarray we realized we needed to call for help ASAP. We reached out to a dozen painters to see if anyone was available on a Sunday to come see the room and give us an estimate to fix it FAST. I highly recommend Final Coat Painting! Peter and his crew did a stunning job refinishing the built-in cabinetry tops in our San Mateo Home. They were a mess. The latex that had been painted over old oil-based paint was literally coming off in strips. I was going to tackle this myself - I'm pretty handy - I thought. At a glance, Peter knew the issue with why the paint wasn't adhering. He sanded my poor job down to where it was even - with an orbital sander that had a vacuum. This was in our bedroom so I was concerned about the dust, but not a speck. Then he filled and primed with the proper formula to get the paint to adhere this time. On another cabinet top, we had let a tea light burn down, and it blistered and peeled the paint. Looked like h$%l. I thought he would just fill, sand a,d repaint the spot, but e did the full top and it looks immaculate. I was planning to work from home that day, but felt comfortable leaving Peter and helper alone in our home since Final Coat is bonded and insured, while I went to work. When I returned from work, everything was done, and not a trace of dust or footprint. Additionally, the price was exactly what I expected, and they went way beyond expectations. Peter and Mario did a fantastic job on the exterior of our home. We had picked out the colors we wanted and he bought samples so we could make sure we liked the colors we picked out. As it turned out, we thought the colors were a bit underwhelming, so he showed us color charts and helped us pick out colors. He was very helpful, because he has a good eye and the colors he helped us choose look great on our house. As far as the work that they did, I can only say that they did a lot of prep work and scraped and patched every crack and every bit of loose paint. Their work was meticulous and Peter even re-stained our small deck in the backyard because they forgot to put down a tarp and there was a small amount of overspray. Great job painting my apartment by Peter and his helper. Peter was very communicative and was able to do the job soon after he gave me his free estimate. He even picked up the paint for me, which was super appreciated. He did the whole job in a day and a half (living room, hallway, 2 bedrooms and baseboards throughout)--super fast! They painted all my walls and my baseboards and everything looked clean and perfect! There was one spot on my baseboard which appeared bubbled a day or so after they finished, but I let Peter know and he came out and fixed it in a snap (it wasn't his fault, it was the way the nail was in the baseboard, but he still sanded things down and fixed it up)! We had our house exterior repainted last year (2018) by Final Coat Painting. They did an excellent job !!! Peter, the owner, check on the progress on a daily basis. He even did most of the stucco spraying himself. They prep the house with high pressure wash & caulked all the cracks before applying the prime coat. The wood trim had a lot of cracks. They sand the wood down to smooth surface & applied 2 final coats over the prime coat. They even re-painted the rusty metal railing at the front door steps without charging any extras. 4/27/2018 After meeting with (3) painting contractors and receiving estimates, I decided on Peter Hornyak of Final Coat Painting. He had excellent reviews and was recommended by paint suppliers. His estimate was detailed and provided substantially more preparation than the others. A very important factor in my decision was that Mr Hornyak would be on site during the entire job. He estimated (8) days to complete the job with his two men. Preparation was extensive since the house has considerable wood siding. Once all the sanding, scraping, feathering and caulking was completed, the entire house was primed. Three colors were used on the wood , stucco and trim. All received (2) coates of paint. Concrete, decks and bushes were all protected during painting process. At the end of each day they cleaned the area and put equipment away. Peters two painters were extremely polite and courteous. For (8) days the painters arrived at 7:45 am and worked until 4:30 pm. My expectations on preparation and attention to details is higher than most people. They exceeded my expectations ! I'm convinced that Mr. Hornyak will paint your home as if it was his own. It was an absolute pleasure to do business with FINAL COAT PAINTING! read more

Peter told me he is very busy and won't be able to take on any new jobs until August or September when he came over in March. However, he was willing to give me an estimate in advance. The cost for exterior painting of a 1-story 2160 sq ft is $9450 and another $4660 for painting fence & retaining walls. I'll need to get more bids before deciding. We have stucco walls, and one thing Peter mentioned was he doesn't have a stucco machine so any patches he performs will be flat and won't look the same as the existing stucco walls so hiring a stucco person to patch the cracks is something to consider. read more

The Final Coat team was booked far in advance, and we considered how in demand they were a positive indicator. We were not disappointed.
