There was also a very nice staff member inside who chatted with us for awhile and told us about some of the movie and TV productions that have been done around Fillmore and Santa Paula relating to trains. If its a train, chances are it was filmed around there. Did ya know Throw Momma from the Train was done there? Neither did I! He told us all about the area, the agriculture, the filming that takes place, his time in the service (he was a veteran of Japan, Korea, and the Middle East back in the 60s or something), his opinions about the high speed rail, and his knowledge of the highways all over the West. All we saw of the museum was the model train set and Kenny so I can't really speak much about it, but the place gets 4 stars just because of him. May we all be in such good shape if we ever live to be his age, whatever that may be.

The young man, Quellen (I hope I spelled his name correctly) who helped us, was very polite, knowledgeable and professional. Front desk staff were also very pleasant. The atmosphere of this library is calm and is well maintained. Would definitely come back to this location to book passport services or if ever in the area, utilize library services.

Depending on where you come from, it just looks like an unassuming building from the park side. With that said, it's a really nice location. There aren't many special frills with this branch, but I think that's fine. It feels slightly more 'utilitarian' of a library. You're here to check out books, do some work, & get out. If you're looking for community events, that's right outside at Petit Park. I don't say that as a knock. Far from it. I think libraries like this have a great use case. Because of the park outside, there aren't many kids running around. This has been one of the more quiet libraries I've been to in my quest to get all of the branch stamps for their 100th anniversary. It's a perfect place to research or focus on something. Keep in mind that because this shares a parking lot with the park, parking can be very limited. Be prepared to park on the street & walk in.
