We arrived at about 4:30pm (shop closes at 5pm). They advised we needed a new radiator. They scheduled us for first am the next morning. They patched us up so we could drive to a nearby hotel (walking distance). They made recommendations for hotels and restaurants. We were able to drop the vehicle off first thing in the morning. We walked back to the hotel until check out. There was a dog park about 3-4 blocks from the shop... and a starbucks. They had us back on the road that afternoon. While it's quite easy to get frustrated because of the unexpected cost of a repair and a hotel, they were great. The crew kept us updated on the timeline. Their fee's are in-line with what shops charge. They did not price gouge. When you are at the mercy of car repairs it is a fear. The team at SB T/S were professional and worked hard to get us back on the road. We are grateful.

I live in LA and got a new set of tires from them on my way through Santa Barbara. They did such a good job and because junior (the owner) was so cool - I drove back to Santa Barbara the next time I needed a tune up. Well worth the drive. No one likes spending money getting work done on their car, but if you have to, you might as well give it to an independent business that does better, more timely, more affordable work than its corporate-chain competition.

I had just told him that I was bedridden the past month from medical stuff, not even 10 secs later he's making fun of me to the next customer "How's your prostate" laughing up a storm like some sociopath as I walk to my car! Talk about no empathy. He even told me how he took pictures of my girlfriend when she was standing around waiting to get me in front of my car! What kind of creep does that !? Talk about making a customer/person uncomfortable! On top of all that unnecessary social awkwardness, on a professional level, Chris always acts like he can make diagnosis on cars just by glancing at them when he is literally is not a mechanic at all. When questioned Chris crumbles under duress; looks away and mutters the wrong stuff. I catch him in lies all the time; never holds eye contact. The man is always making weird adjustments on invoices or not putting all the information down (shown below*). Rarely holds appointment times. I will make an appointment days or weeks out, I show up and they're clueless that I am even coming in. I will sit for hours on standby while he makes his remarks. Always talking at me, never with me. Chris ordered me wrong windshield wiper pump 2x before getting me the right one, he refused to listen to which was the right one, then on 3rd try got it right by listening to me only to tell me "Won't order another one if it does not work" when it was all on him the first 2 times and it worked because it was finally the one I asked for the 3rd go around. Chris overcharged me an hour in labor* charging me for someone's lunch break back in May then never reimbursed me. Charged me double on a brake peddle assembly back on 12/18/18, hundred bucks when they cost fifty. 4/26/19 Charged me $458 for `Flex-Alite 480` electric fans that I find on JEGS for $322 & general baseline at $350... like ugh. My Red Head Steering Gear box that Chris hyped to me how it's the best ever is totally leaking after it's installed. Went back numerous times to show and they kept brushing me off until finally accepted it is leaking only to try to tell me that "the warranty doesn't cover it because was sitting on his shelf for 6 months prior to installing it into my car and that warranty was up"! Ridiculous! As if that's my fault or problem. So, initially instead of replacing it Superior tried to put a seal kit on it, after they already done that to my 'Power Steering pump' and when that failed I had to get a whole new one! I was not having this. I called Red Head and told them what was up so that they would call 'Superior' and force them to give me my warranty because barely had been 90 days and Red Head has a 1 year warranty with unlimited miles policy. I also come to find out I was charged $541 for the steering gear when retail is $351 - so basically marked up a part for $190 and tried not to issue the warranty on it ! Essentially charged me for a core that I gave on day of install ($150) and marked me up from there. Unbelievable ! When Mike the mechanic went to replace the Red Head steering gear box (7/31/19) he literally took apart my whole front end suspension (inner/outer tire rod ends, idler arm, center link) vs just simply removing the 2 bolts off my power steering pump and taking it out the normal way through the top. Now my ride does not drive the same even after it was aligned by them. The 3 alignments I got from Superior in the last 9 months were total rubbish. So loose, drifting, on the highway my car is sliding into other lanes. A total nightmare. Don't even feel safe now. Bob, owner, installed my Wilwood disc brakes he knew the brake booster was bad, mentioned it yet did not replace the booster. So I had to do it on my own because I was driving around with no pressure at all for months. Also put on my fuel filter - never tightened it on & left the line cramped/blocked. I came home after a couple weeks on vacation to a half a tank of gas all over the ground, all over my engine & gas sitting on electric wires... had I turned my car over I could have easily blown up! No joke. Not okay at all. I spent a morning with rags trying to dry it out so I could leave my driveway after I defused the fuel filter line nightmare by re-routing the line. Bob was dismissive of it when I told him. Also hooked up brake lines in reverse - making the back brakes go off before the front ones = fish tail ! I spent roughly $19,000 grand at this establishment and regretting it. Bad brake job. Bad alignment. Bad Customer Service. = Strikeout **Still owed $125 for a hour of labor that was never done + $100s in marked up parts, after paying over 15k in sketchy labor rates

Never have I been so quick to write a poor review - my experience at J's (Bear Auto) was THAT BAD…read more I brought in a tire - and had called ahead to confirm mount and balance service details. Upon removing my old tire, they informed me that I had brought the "wrong tire!". Much to my dismay (I already have these tires on the car), I inquired how, if they were the right size, spec, weight rating, etc., would they not work? The answer? "There's no foam." The stupid PNCS noise cancelling foam. Which has literally no bearing on tire functionality. At a seeming impasse, I quickly considered my options as it was becoming clear that we had a difference of opinion. They eventually agreed to mount the tire - I'm sure they would have preferred to sell me a different $350 tire. This all would have been a moderately poor experience -- until they OVER-INFLATED MY TIRE by ~20psi. Imagine, a blowout immediately after getting your tire changed. Steer clear if you're looking for professionalism, safety, or honesty.
