If I know one thing it's that we are all universally anxious about getting our haircut. The range of concerns are endless: will it look good, is the barber friendly, how much will it cost, is the person with the scissors going to throw a Sweeney Todd and so on. For those fellows out there who are looking for a standard, no frills but also no disasters (yet) haircut, then look no further then Figaro's. I switched to Figaro's after I got sick of paying a premium for a haircut and being consistently dissatisfied with the results. My thinking was, 'how much worse could it be if I just went to that Figaro's place'. Turns out they do a pretty decent job. Like those old style barbers there are no bookings or 'hair appointments' required, just come in, take a seat and wait. By the time you reach the barber's chair you have about 30 seconds to describe what you want before those scissors start snipping. Remarkably the barbers here are quite skilled. They can take initiative and their intuition often seems to work out - at least for me. Turns out I didn't know I wanted shorter hair before they gave it to me. Prices are absolutely reasonable: normally around $20 for an adult. As a side they only accept cash so be sure you have some handy. This wasn't the most intimate haircut I've ever had but it was pretty darn good. It was probably in and out of there in 30 minutes, including the time it took to wait for a barber to finish with another client. Though I was disappointed that I didn't get a head massage and an interesting insight into who my hairdresser is dating, what I got instead was a above average haircut for below average prices. Literally the worse customer service - went in to ask if they had gift certificates as I wanted to get my boyfriend a hair cut for Christmas. The lady rolled her eyes at me scoffed and said 'no it's a barber shop' A simple no would have been fine. And lots of barber shops have gift certificates. Today I went for the 2nd time here and just as the first did not enjoy it. I believe in giving a place a second chance as I could have someone else cutting my hair / difference experience. Today I noticed it all around their shop. There was no cleaning of the scissors / clippers from the last person used (not just on myself but all the other staff as I watched on in disbelief). The lady did not sweep before me so on my way to the chair I was walking on a head of hair, not fun when you have thongs on and getting it in your feet. After describing what I wanted (just the back of neck shaved with clippers that overgrows, and around the ears (something quick and easy as I have a function to go to) she decides to start going at my whole sides with clippers? Not what I asked for at all and not happy. Too late to say anything so just wore it out. Upon paying (Cash only - No problem) I asked for a tax receipt only to be told they don't do them and could not write their abn on the other receipt for me. To me now I doubt their business on a professional level and will never return, and will actively tell friends not to use them either, there are other salons / barbers in the center that are more professional for the same price. read more
