We had a party of 8 and were seated quickly. I didn't love the booth we were sat in as it made it difficult for some people to get up and down during our meal and would have preferred a long table but whatever. The food was good for a chain and my Fish and Chips were exactly what I expected. Service was good with no drama and while one of the Desserts was forgotten they recovered well. Total bill was 135 GBP which for 8 people is pretty decent value. This isn't fine dining by any means but for a chain is one of the better choices.

Bright and inviting from the outside, with a good portion of outdoor seating, ideal for the great weather we've been having. Inside seats about 30, the tables decoratively covered in embroidered tablecloths. As soon we entered we were greeted with a smiling face asking how we were, that kind of positive impression goes a long way! Although its table service, we were drawn to the tempting looking cakes under the counter, the coffee cake looked fantastic and I liked the fact you could see the staff preparing cakes, salads etc, behind the counter. But breakfast was definitely the order of the day, a decent amount of choice from teacakes to a Full English. I went for the Bacon and Sausage Sandwich with doorstep granary bread, fantastically tasty, courtesy of high quality ingredients and very fresh bread. My wife had a large teacake which was equally tasty. The drinks we had were OK, the cappuccino a little milky, and the coffee a little weak, but on the whole, a great breakfast, all the better with the wonderfully sunny outlook, this tearoom has. We will definitely return for breakfast again and to sample those tempting cakes. A few other things worth mentioning, they sell bread, cakes and rolls too, as well as making celebration cakes to order. Be aware though, the only toilet is up some steep stairs.

Beyong that we are talking a pretty average, but nice enough, centrally located bar. It is based in the 'Hockley' area of the City and is therefore within a good easy walk of several other decent bars such as Revolution, Market bar, Ha Ha, Dogma etc. Drinks are probably towards the higher side if you just fancied getting a pint of lager, but then again there is the upkeep of that lovely Palm tree to consider, so just class it as a donation!

But we stood at the bar with a drink and admired the beautiful husky that was visiting the pub and after 20minutes were seated. The food was absolutely delicious and cannot be faulted in any way. The only reason why I've not given 5 stars is because I was really looking forward to a lamb shank and unfortunately they had sold out and hadn't told me when I sat down. The service was very pleasant and we were even offered extra gravy half way through our meal which I think is a great touch. Great pub, not cheap but definitely worth every penny.

A good variety of outdoor seating, both at the front of the pub and in prime location next to the canal, perfect for a summer's evening! Inside the pub is modern and spacious, with pictures adorning the walls from Willington in bygone times. We visited on a Bank Holiday and the Dragon was very busy with diners and drinkers alike, sheltering from the incessant rain! Menu wise, a good variety of dishes, both traditional and more modern. As it was so busy on the evening we visited, we just went straight for the mains. We went for the 'Dragon burger' and the Moroccan Tagine; the burger was tasty enough, with a pleasant accompanying side salad and great chips. The tagine was the pick of the dishes though, full of flavour and a sizeable portion, with cous cous, but could have done with a portion of veg, but that was an extra. Other dishes included steaks, fish and chips, homemade pies etc. A good meal, and we will definitely give the starters and desserts a try on another visit.

Having read the previous reviews and needing a place to go and celebrate our wedding anniversary,…read morewe decided to give the Old Vicarage a try. The Old Vicarage is a grand looking building adjacent to a church in Branston, on the edge of Burton. The whole place as you entered had a touch of class, from relaxing in a lounge area to choose your dishes to being shown to your table only when the starters were ready, we knew we had made the right choice. We had chosen the three course option (£21.95 + supplements), and were shown into an opulent dining area with large tables, amply spaced and tastly furnished. My starter of mixed terrine including guinea fowl and rabbit, with melba toast and a sweet chutney was tasty, without being startling. The main course and dessert however, were a different story. The main of monkfish and prawns in a chilli and garlic based linguini was full of flavour, whilst my wife's seabass was cooked to perfection. Our desserts of lemon tart and a trio of chocolate desserts were arguably even better, probably the nicest white chocolate I have ever eaten! The pacing of the courses was just right and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Finishing off with petit fours and coffee in the lounge, it felt like the special occasion we wanted it to be. The Old Vicarage is not cheap, but serves great food in wonderful surroundings.
