Everyone was very friendly and we received a free gift for opening up an account. Their account types were pretty easy to understand and the personal banker was very personable and explained each account very thoroughly. They showed that they were willingly to work with you and what was best for you, and they were not pushy. I would recommend this bank.

I am utterly disgusted at the profiling and racism I just experienced by one of the workers here…read more My uber took me to the wrong address. I was supposed to go to 5070 Peachtree Blvd but instead he dropped me at 5070 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. Leading me having to order and wait for another Uber. I was not there more than 2 minutes before a man came out and said "do you need help" I said no my uber dropped me in the wrong location and I am waiting for a new driver. He said well this doesn't look good we are a financial institution and you shouldn't be here. He then proceeded to say maybe you should stand in the front (I was already standing there). I completely ignored him and continued to wait for my uber. He proceeded to sit in his car and watch me until my Uber arrived along with another worker. This is deplorable and from what I can see in the reviews this is a not a one time thing. This financial institution is known for racially profiling people including their own customers. I literally live down the street. Never have been in trouble with the law in my entire life. The fact that this man could think I was there to do something mischievous when I clearly had on my purse, a pair of $500 headphones, and dressed in a manner that clearly shows I was going out for dinner. Never in my life have I experienced such a thing. I'm going to do everything I can to detour people from ever trying to bank here and will expose them all on social media

Do not join this Credit Union under any circumstances unless you enjoy awful customer service,…read morepolicies/procedures explained after the fact, or spending copious amounts of time searching for answers to common situations. I agree with other reviewers that if 0 stars were an option, that's what I would choose. Do not use this institution for any reason, if at all possible. Departments are heavily siloed, with little knowledge shared, and staff must constantly refer to or involve supervisors instead of answering questions. I was a co-owner on my Mother's checking account when she passed away unexpectedly. Immediately, when informing Associated Credit Union of her passing, all accounts were locked, and online access was denied, even though I was a co-owner on the checking account. I discovered this when trying to access the account, then contacting the CU. I was told this should have been explained when I informed them of her death. In addition, they immediately transferred funds from the checking account to pay her credit card in full, even though this is not the order in which bills are to be paid per the Forsyth County Probate Court, and the option to make payments was not offered. I could get no information regarding her other accounts, even with the Will designating me as Executor. Staff are either unfamiliar with the processes when an account holder dies, or are instructed not to state the polices they are enforcing until asked. Staff constantly referred me to other departments or staff members, and even then it was not easy to get an answer. I use a credit union, which thankfully operates nothing like this one. I had no idea that a CU could or would treat its members like this.

My husband has been a member of ACU for OVE4R 40 YEARS--and I joined as well when we were married…read more From the 1980's up until about 5 years ago--great service. Then something changed. First, we noticed their rather horrible website was down more than it was up, and didn't function well even when it was up. Call the Tech Support line? Good luck getting an answer--and if you do get a real person, they know no more about how to solve the problem than you do, and their best advice is "Call ACU in the morning when they're open!" Then my husband started trying to redeem his credit card "Rewards" points on such things as hotels and car rentals. The site would say we HAD been granted the special rate or credit--but we get to the hotel or car rental place and they've never heard of any such credit nor does it show up on their site! (Nothing like going out of town and finding the reservation you THOUGHT you paid for with your ACU points doesn't even EXIST!) TODAY was the LAST STRAW. Their customer service is non-existent--you call their receptionist, and she doesn't even KNOW THE NAMES of the people she says work "downstairs" in the main corporate office so as to get you to a live person! I asked for one of the ladies who I spoke with earlier on the phone BY NAME and the lady on the phone did not even know who it was--and she worked there in the SAME BRANCH! I had purchased a Safe Deposit Box rental--but the box I got was defective. Not only would it not open for us, but even the ACU employees there had a hard time getting it open! We repeatedly asked for it to be fixed, and they told us they'd call someone to do so--but next time we went back it was STILL broken! Finally we asked if they didn't have another box they could put us in. They did--but said they had only ONE key for it. I said that's ok, I'm the only one ever goes into it anyway. I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT IN WRITING from them that they were making a special case for me and giving me ONLY ONE KEY. They said they would CALL me when they found the second key--but of course they never did. Today I went to go in the box and now THAT box was hard to open, so I decided to close the Safe Deposit Box out and MOVE it to my own bank (which is SO much better than ACU!) They had forgotten that they ONLY gave me ONE key--in fact they said they WOULDN'T have let me have a box with only one key (but they DID! -- as a special case, because MY box was defective--and they said they'd call me when they had the second key, and they never did!) So now they told me (to add insult to injury) that "I" have to pay "them" a $5 "fee" for "losing" the second key--that they never GAVE me! As soon as we can pay off my husband's credit-card bill, we are CLOSING OUT ALL ACCOUNTS. ACU no longer CARES about its customers. I asked to speak to their CEO at that branch via a written form on their website---haven't heard peep one back and don't expect I will. All we want now is to get AWAY from these disreputable, smug, untruthful, uncaring, incapable, and totally INCOMPETENT people--and to take our business to a better place that still CARES and TRIES to do a GOOD job for its customers! (I would name my own bank but don't know if that's allowed--but it's in a large red brick building on Buford Hwy in Duluth near Rogers' Bridge Road).
