My husband and I are members of the Publix Employee Credit Union. Until this year, we have been…read morepleased with the service we received and have always found the employees to be helpful, not only providing service to us, but also helping assist us with applying for other items offered through the Credit Union. This year, it seems like customer service has gone down hill and anyone dealing with loans, locally, the English language was not their first language. For something that should be a simple application, cannot explain our situation and what we would like to apply for, more clearer, the employees obviously have a difficult time understanding and give us the run around. Last week, we had submitted an application, to borrow money against the available balance we have. We found out almost a week later, that not only did the lady not turn in our application, she was on vacation for a week, so no one would help us. Clark Howard raves about Credit Unions. He also makes a point of what to do if you encounter problems and aren't able to get the help you request. After all of this, we are not pleased with the credit union. Having to drive to the nearest location is also time consuming for our and not to mention the high price of gas, for the commute. We are seriously considering taking our business elsewhere, if no one on the board is willing to help us and make us a satisfied customer. Also, another thing that has us thinking about leaving this credit union, is the lack of parking and the location. At times, it is nearly impossible to find a parking spot.

We had our A/c in our home go out last year and we called and asked if we could borrow the money to have it replaced, and it was in the account with in few hours!!! Now that is customer service!!!

They always take time to work with their customers, talk them through any questions or problems, and reach out if needed. What more could I ask for from a bank? It is a little difficult that their hours are limited (9am-4pm can be difficult to make on a work day), but it is worth it for their staff - they make you feel like part of a small community! I must shout out Tamika Madeam - she was so professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Here, they go the extra mile with customer service.

Piedmont bank recently merged with westside bank, and I went to this location to make a deposit since they are closer to my home. I wasn't greeted when, I first walked in, and as I was filling out my deposit slip. The banker Kelly McMillan asked me " what am I doing on this side of town"? I had already told her that I was with westside bank, and she never once welcomed me, thanked me for coming to their branch location, or nothing. She looked at me as if I shouldn't have even been banking there and her question was intrusive ass hell. For a employee to ask why a customer is even at their branch clearly show a lack of professionalism, and discrimination especially being that I'm African American. Then the employee Lauren Poole jumped in the conversation stating she felt offended behind me stating that, I felt like they where discriminating towards me. I was the only African American in the bank, and they both where looking down upon me as if, I didn't belong there. Even after, I asked for a manager they where still arguing with me regarding me complaining about their behavior. The manager kept telling them to stop arguing with me, and they both continued to argue. Just unprofessional, ill mannered, and disrespectful. They have horrible customer, and obviously take pride in mistreating customers. I've never had to experience anything like this at a bank, and I will never patronize this location again.

I decided to join a credit union versus the major banks after really having bad experiences with the major banks (i'll keep the names of the other banks anonymous for the sake of being a nice person). Location: Conveniently located in Jonesboro next to Morrow, Georgia. This credit union is off of exit 231 on I 75 south. There are plenty of stores nearby such as Publix, the farmers market, Plato's closet, and many more. There are also great restaurant to check out as well. Service: The few times that I have gone inside, service has been very welcoming and the patient. The wait is not nearly as long as other major banks and you are guaranteed to get the service you need. I especially appreciate the fact that they have drive-thru hours on Saturday. Bummers: Some negatives is the fact that there are not many locations located around metro Atlanta. However they do offer something that I believe is called Bank sharing where you can go to another credit union branch and have the same service rendered that you would at your home bank.
