And these are not wimpy tacos. These are generous sized tacos, generous sides and a generous salsa bar. There is minor confusion when you walk in because the restaurant and grocery store occupy the same space. You order at the food counter but you don't pay until AFTER you finish the meal. Seating is around the corner, tucked away. Also note these tacos take time. It's not the order and you get your meal right away. Expect to sit around 10 minutes or so before your food arrives but it's worth it because it's so good and filling. The ambiance is no frills and sparse but if you can overlook that and just enjoy the tacos, this place is worth a visit.

There wasn't anyone working in the kitchen so I used my Spanish and asked if I could order. The gentleman seemed bothered but made my two tacos. I'm not sure if there's certain lunch times but I went around 2pm. He then had the female worker ring me up. Pleas note they take cards for a minimum of $8. Plan ahead everyone. She was very nice. I got a carnitas and a barbacoa taco. Both were pretty good. No complaints. Each came with onion and cilantro on top. It also came with garnishes of radish lime and salsas. Great prices. Great meats. Would return for sure. Come support local business here.

Of course the enchiladas came with the rice and refried beans. I really enjoyed my meal. The steak fajitas came with the refried beans and condiments, but no rice. First time I saw the fajitas came with no rice. The fajitas was tasty and plenty from the lunch menu. Each person received their own salsa, first time eating at a Mexican restaurant that each person received their own salsa. Which was great! The salsa had a warmth to it, not mild or hot. Tasty! Our server checked on us often and refilled our sodas. One of the best servers (sorry I don't know his name) we had for a while.

Our waitress, Kim G., seemed unfamiliar with the menu and had to ask others for help with several questions. (Including if they had sparkling water) Our food arrived cold, drinks went without refills, and the hot sauce we requested multiple times didn't arrive until we were nearly finished eating. With such a slow dining room, the lack of attentiveness was surprising. The overall experience felt disorganized and disappointing. I'll give her some grace, maybe she was new or maybe she had very poor training. I don't think the tip she received was remotely deserved.

We were greeted by the owner and his son upon walking in...and offered delicious samples of various dishes to help us decide what to order. Each one was incredible, so you can't go wrong!! You order at the counter and then food is brought to your table. There is a fixings bar with limes, cilantro, various salsas, etc. for you to add to your dishes. I had the barbacoa tacos while my husband had the Barbacoa Pozole, which is a traditional Mexican stew or thick soup made with hominy, meat (usually pork or chicken), and a broth that can be red, green, or white. It was AMAZING! Oh, and did I mention they make their own homemade corn tortillas!? If you're in the area, this is a must! They mentioned business has been a little slow lately so they really appreciated us stopping in. Please support them if you can!! You won't regret it!!

We tried 3 different flavors of pozole, Mexican pork ribs, birria, barbacoa and more. The samples were so delicious it was very hard to choose. We ordered pozole rojo, enchiladas, a taco platter (asada, barbacoa beef, and al pastor), and a side plate of rice and beans. The pozole came with a chicken taquito, lime, cabbage, onions, cilantro, a slice of avocado and chicharones. We are native to Southern California and I can tell you in the central Minnesota area, there is no better Mexican food than what is served in this restaurant, not to mention the hand made tortillas! Don't spend your money elsewhere. This has every other restaurant beat, and it's not close. The customer service is on a different level too, we spoke with the two gentleman like we've known them for years. They were so kind and made us feel right at home. These recipes tasted like my grandmother (who is from Jalisco) was cooking for me again. Easily comfort food. Would recommend to anyone. They also make horchata and jamaica aguas frescas, not with syrup or instant mix. There are many different types salsas available, my favorite was the avocado salsa. Medium heat level with lots of flavor.
