I'm giving this four stars even though during our visit it probably was three stars at best, but the place is in its final weeks of business so of course things are older than not being kept up. But that didn't stop it from being very busy and popular and it actually didn't stop it from being a very fun little adventure for two adults with no children lol I'm sure in it's heyday It was a fun place. It was a fun place when we just went. The growling dinosaurs were a hoot. And the staff was wonderful. There were demonstrations and presentations every half hour. I really had a delightful day.

Leonia, NJ - this small dinosaur-themed park on the grounds of Overpeck Park is cute for younger kids (I would say up to age 10), although your older dinosaur-loving kids may also enjoy it. It's open from late May-early November and we came in October around Halloween, so the park was decorated in the seasonal theme. The dinosaurs are cool though the animatronics are stiff and a bit lame. There is a daily schedule of various activities and events. The kids are given a passport, and receive a stamp every time they attend a presentation or complete a task at an activity station. I will say the performers were absolutely terrific - they were funny, engaged, enthusiastic, and really did their best to give a good show. There is also a sandpit a.k.a. "fossil dig site." The Jurassic zoo bouncer (bounce house) and Jurassic Jump are an additional cost. A concession stand sells basic food/snacks like burgers, hot dog, chicken nuggets, etc., which you can eat under a covered picnic tent. The fries are surprisingly great! I can't say I was super impressed by the park experience, but consider it a nice stroll with entertaining and child-friendly features. If it gets too hot there are some shady paths to duck onto and take respite on the benches. We got some good photos however so made some nice memories with the kiddo, who had fun at the park.

When I heard this place was closing for good on November 9th, I knew I had to visit one more time. The last time I went was at their previous location, so I had a general idea of what to expect--just in a new setting. The park is laid out nicely, with a few little trails that wind into the woods near the water and loop back around. There are many dinosaur exhibits. A few of them moved and had sound effects, but with the park shutting down so soon, I'm not going to nitpick the condition of the dinosaurs or their performances. They're cool no matter what. I went right when the place opened, which made it easy to wander freely and take photos without people in the background. I walked slowly and covered the whole park in about 90 minutes. By the time I was leaving, the place was packed with young families and kids. It's definitely geared toward children--or anyone who's into dinosaurs! Incidentally, they are SELLING the dinosaurs so I would encourage anyone interested to look into that. Put them in your backyard and I will come photograph them!

LEONIA: Field Station Dinosaurs is an amazing family friendly experience and there are special days where dogs are allowed! We were lucky enough to attend on the last day of the 2024 season and we thank a friend for sharing a discount code for admission to this amazing attraction! Field Station Dinosaurs is an outdoor expedition to explore 32 life-size animatronic dinosaurs through Overpeck Park! The realism is awe-inspiring and paired with informative signs to learn about reptiles that pre-dated humans by millions of years! There is a beautiful trail that takes you through the park and right along Overpeck Creek. The live shows are great and run every 15 minutes all-day long where you can learn about dinosaurs in a family friendly and humorous way. There are also fun hands-on activities like a fossil dig site (look for bones!), paleo eye spy (find hidden treasures!), paleo picasso (draw a dinosaur!), a raptor maze, bounce house, and much more! The park is small enough to see everything easily within a couple of hours. You can bring your own food and there is also a canteen to purchase some. The park is typically open from the end of May through the beginning of November. They host a dog friendly Halloween costume contest and additional dog friendly dates are posted on social media when they are able to. Dogs must be leashed and friendly, up-to-date on vaccines, and of course, pick up after your pet.

Very cute and fun for the family. Took my 2 year old daughter and she loved it. Definitely room for improvement. My daughter loved the little maze. They have sooo much space that could be filled with activities or other things for kids to do but def would go again.

I doubt that this place has been here a long time and some of the animatronic dinosaurs could use a facelift... however, My Husband and I bought tickets on Groupon and spent like three hours here watching all of their performances and reading the facts and walking around without hordes of children and parents everywhere. It was a nice hidden gem that I've always been meaning to stop and see.. as a kid in the 90s I would've gone bananas for something like this. There were interactive things like Paleo Picasso for my kid to draw along with other kids. Inflatable dinosaur costumes for the kids to put on and run around in. Singing performances and interaction with animatronic dinosaurs.. even at two years old my daughter was really interested in getting her little booklet, stamped and pointing at all the different types of dinosaurs. The diff shop could use some love.. and if they had somewhere to buy food or snacks, besides one vending machine I think they could do a lot better. I would be interested in coming and seeing their after dark show. My husband and I kept talking about how we felt it was pretty safe considering everything was out in the open and fenced in so we didn't have to worry about our child running away or getting lost.

Great for children 2-10. Good dinosaur exhibits and presentations. Surprised that the food concession was good and fairly priced. Up charge of $8 per for bouncy and other extras. Good deal bought admission from Groupon for $23 for 2. Tomorrow is last day for year, open in spring.

It was a lot of fun for the little ones, especially our baby who saw a dinosaur for the first time. We had heard a lot about this place, given its proximity to Overpeck Park where we often run, walk, and play tennis. It was a pleasant surprise to discover this spot for our little one. There are plenty of activities and events designed for young children, including fossil digging, dinosaur songs and events, mazes, and jumping activities. However, we felt that our baby needed to be at least 2-3 years old to fully enjoy the park. Overall, it's a unique park to have in the area, and our family is excited to see how it develops over time. By the time our baby is old enough to remember, everything will be perfect, right by the river!

I didn't expect much from this place, but it was actually not that bad. The dinosaurs were a bit crude, but still acceptable. What I really enjoyed was the activities that they offered. They have many small activities that kids can enjoy for 15 - 20 minutes. My kid loved them. The T-Rex feeding activity was really nice.

Once you go, you don't have to go again. Cute but pricey. Not a lot of shade so better on cooler days. Almost 3yos and 6yo not scared at all (nor did they think the dinos were real.) Digging in the sand was probably their favorite part (which can be accomplished for free else where.) The staff of educators were very nice and child friendly. An hour or two max and you'll have the lay of the land. There's something lackluster about the experience. If you can get free tix do it. If traveling a distance, may not be worth the trip.

Definitely not worth the price of admission. Very nice adventure for a few hours. Nice display of animatronic dinosaurs. On this day some were not even working. Nice area for kids to dig for bones and for an additional fee of $5 they could even dig for a small fossil. Very friendly staff. Outrageously expensive snack truck and souvenir shop. This place definitely has potential. Easy parking.

Good dinosaur exhibit for young kids. It's a little pricy but good to kill 1-1.5 hours if you do all the activities.

If you are debating whether a membership is worth it or investing on some tickets for the family, I say GO FOR IT! you really won't regret it I have a membership and it's been the greatest membership I've had thus far. I have the family zoo plus membership where three adults including yourself get in for free plus 4 children. You have the option to add another adult on the card- the purpose is so that person can go to the zoo with the card without you having to be there. The person whose name is on the card must be present. You are able to remove or add a person at anytime. For me it's more flexible and convenient to only have my name on it to not restrict the people I could take. The membership grants you access to the zoo for a full year, including the Central Park zoo, prospect zoo and queens. there's a membership that grants you access to the aquarium as well but is more expensive. Parking is not included in the membership but is available for an additional fee at the time of purchase with your membership or at any point during your membership. Every time I go to the zoo, regardless of the season we find parking so we don't need the parking at the zoo. You get a 10% discount at the gift shops and food spots. You get free access to jungle world, nature trek, the children's museum, Congo world, the big carousel, wild Asia monorail and the butterfly garden which you would normally have to pay an additional fee to get into besides your regular zoo admission ticket. You also get early access to new animal exhibits before the public does. And those are only some of the benefits that you get, you also get additional discounts for things that aren't covered by the membership such as the holiday lights show (25% off) I am delighted to say that I have never seen the bathroom at the zoo in bad conditions EVER. I don't know how they manage to keep it so clean, regardless of the large crowds. Overall, the zoo is always clean. The guests are respectful in the sense that there is never garbage on the floor. It is worth it to purchase a souvenir cup. You get free refills throughout the day and for any future visits. I've been using the same cup since last year with no issues. There are some areas where the refill is a $1 and others where it's free with that specific cup. If you are a member, remember to mention to the cashier that you are one so they can apply your member discount for your food and drinks, they often forget to ask if you are a member. The best recommendation I can make is to use the interactive map provided by the zoo, available on your phone. You share your location with the map, and tap on the animal you want to see and it will direct you to it live. It will look similar to your iPhone maps when you're walking without the audio. Trust me the interactive map will make things significantly easier and less aggravating. You can miss a lot of animalsthat are close by without the map, you would be walking in circles without it and end up note tired at the end. The signal over there is not great but the maps function work perfect for me. I recommend you wear walking sneakers because you will WALK a while lotttt. You also can't get in the nature trek without sneakers. You can bring in your own food and drinks to the zoo, there are designated areas to sit down and eat. An insulated book bag works wonders for me. There are strollers available for rent which you will absolutely need if you don't have your own. The zoo is very inclusive when it comes to people with disabilities which is great, they have alternative routes all over and tell you in advance if a particular route will lead to stairs, and if so there's alternative routes that are stairs free. There are also quiet areas and headphones available upon request. The most perfect time to go is right before spring, you will have the animals to yourself ! I discovered that solo dates to the zoo is the most majestic experience ever! You get to enjoy the zoo with no rush and it's even better without the crowds. The animals are also more relaxed and don't hide when there's less crowds. For the first time ever I got to see the tiger walk right next to the glass. Prior to the spring there will be exhibits closed for the winter but none that take away from the experience. The zoo is free on Wednesdays and so is the botanical garden which is close by. I went to the botanical garden for an hour to journal and spend time with god and proceeded to the zoo for the rest of my day and it made it 100x better to see that these beautiful animals are a gift to us form the lord 10/10 recommend

In general I'll try to avoid visiting zoos due to ethical concerns, but I think the Bronx Zoo might…read morebe one of the more ethical ones out there. It is one of the few exceptions I allow. I've never once seen the entire zoo in one trip. I've been going there since I was five and wouldn't be surprised if there are parts I still haven't seen yet because it's so expansive. All my visits as an adult have all been with groups of children, and it's difficult corralling and motivate kids to keep moving in such a large zoo. I found it best to ask each kid what they want to see most and hit up those spots. Treat everything passed along the way as a bonus. These trips often include city kids. These kids are used to walking entire neighborhoods just to get to school or anywhere else, but the zoo still wears them out, so imagine suburbanites used to the car life on these trips. Those kids struggle. We've always left before even seeing half of what the zoo has to offer. If I didn't live in NY and wanted to really wanted kids to see the zoo more fully, I'd break it into a multi day trip rather than attempt it in one go. But kids are always happy with my abridged trips to just say hi to their favorites. I'm the one left wanting. I'll probably have to start going solo or with adults in order to really explore. I do think it will be possible to see everything in one trip with just adults. The zoo is just not little legs friendly. The Bronx Zoo is probably the most expensive zoo I've ever visited. If an exhibit is popular, anticipate pulling out some money to pay more to see it. That's ok for me if the money is used for good, but it's something to consider if on a budget. I wish they were more strict about not letting people bang on the glass in the primate exhibit. I leave the primates for last on trips because watching them makes me so sad. That sadness gets punctuated by bangs and taps on the glass by inconsiderate zoo goers.

I bought a Groupon deal for 2 people to 6 Flags with transportation. It seemed like a good deal until AFTER buying the Groupon, the company asks me to pay $29.43 in taxes directly to them. They then canceled the trip due to weather a whole week before the trip was scheduled for. I could not make the alternate date so I asked for a refund. I jumped through a few hoops before Groupon refunded me and then I spoke to JOMAR SMART at 646-327-7545 who promised I would see the taxes refunded within a few days. After not seeing a refund after a week, he has since been ignoring my daily calls for two weeks since. I filed a dispute with my CC company but it is not likely it will get resolved if these people went AWOL. This is a scam artist taking of with people's "taxes". It's pretty much criminal.

Being that it was a good deal I convinced my sister and mother to purchase the deal as well so that we could have one last family outing as the summer was whining down. I contacted the vendor ( Activity Bus) on Friday September 18th 2015 to make arrangements for my outing. The vendor communicated what theme parks he would be servicing and what dates were available. We agreed on Hershey Park on Sunday October 11th, leaving from Downtown Brooklyn at the Barclay's Center. We communicated to Mr. Smart that we are a family of 10 and he assured us that he could accommodate us. On Thursday September 24, 2015 I contacted Mr. Smart to inform him that it was brought to my attention by my niece that Hershey Park was closed that weekend. Which is something I would accept the vendor/organizer to know prior to making arrangements. I contacted Mr. Smart via text and phone call leaving a voice mail and received no response. In the texts that I sent I asked Mr. Smart to please provide further information and plan details. on Friday September 25, 2015 at approximately 8pm I was able to speak with someone a woman that answered Mr. Smart's phone, who was polite and helpful who offered Great Adventure as an alternate. That was fine and we agreed on Great Adventure for Sunday October 11, 2015 for my family of 10. I communicated with the woman once again on Thursday October 1, 2015 as i needed to change one of my participants to which she was accommodating. I also at that time asked the woman for the details of the trip i.e. what time the bus would be leaving to and from the park, what could li bring onto the bus the usual stuff and was told that i would be contacted three days prior to the trip with all the details which I was okay with. On Friday October 9th 2015, I contacted Mr. Smart via email asking if he could please provide me with the details with Sundays trip to Great Adventure. NO RESPONSE. On Saturday October 10, 2015 I contacted Mr. Smart leaving messages on his phone NO RESPONSE. Finally someone answered the phone and told my sister the details of the trip and where we needed to meet the bus. We were all set and excited for our family day or so we thought. At exactly 1:57 am on Sunday October 11, 2015 we received a text from Mr. Smart stating that the trip had been cancelled due to a on going dispute with GROUPON and ill activity from participants. And that we needed to contact GROUPON for our refunds. Let me say this first of all they were not disputing till 1:57am. They could have contacted families from earlier during the day. What they did and how they did it was completely and utterly unprofessional. There were a series of red flags with this vendor but we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and support a local up and coming business. To make matter worse when we contacted GROUPON they themselves had no record of any disputes with the vendor. GROUPON did in fact refund what was paid to them however the so called taxes that were paid directly to the vendor has yet to be refunded and of course no one is answering calls or voicemail's. This has been the worst experience this vendor is unprofessional, and unreliable and does not deserve anyone's business.I there was away to give negative stars that is exactly what I would give them. Extremely Disappointed in Crown Heights Brooklyn!!!!!!!!!
