Absolutely the worst escrow agent I have ever used. Fidelity's staff and practices are the worst. Stacy P. handled our transaction and from all we could surmise, this was her first. At one point in the process she asked the mortgage lender to define "closing." She clearly needs further training on the house buying process. Her missteps caused a lot on undue stress fr everyone involved.
The worst part is that Fidelity and Stacy waited until the last minute to spring a title insurance charge of $1,900 for buyer's (not lenders title insurance for which they charged me $532) title insurance. She did not include this in the estimates and never mentioned it until the end when it was too late to drop it - at least according to Stacy. This insurance is totally optional and I did not want it but because we were so late in the process and Stacy said that we would have to go back to the lenders and the sellers, I accepted it to get the deal done.
This practice by Fidelity is totally underhanded and is the reason why we have the Consumer Financial Protection Board. read more
