Attention anyone who is dealing with Fidelity National Title Insurance in Grand Junction:
Monday, my wife and I went to sign the papers to refinance our home (saving us almost $200 a month due to lower interest rates). We were seated at a table in a conference room, masked, when our closer, Nikole, arrived and sat down about 3 feet from us unmasked. When we asked if she had been vaccinated, she replied "no". So we kept our masks on.
We are both vaccinated, and boosted 2 weeks ago, but she didn't know that. And since the vax is less than 95% effective, than means we would have a one in ten chance (since there were two of us) of becoming seriously ill, or dying, if she had infected us.
Apparently, some Fidelity staff feel no need to protect their customers from catching Covid, even if their customers are high risk senior citizens, especially when Mesa County is Colorado's current Covid hotspot! One in five Covid deaths in Mesa County are vaccinated people. The vax doesn't really protect, just significantly lowers your risk, but the risk is still there, especially for seniors.
I find such a blatant disregard for the safety and health of their customers appalling!
We wear masks to help protect us, but since we are vaccinated, primarily to protect the unvaccinated in case we might have contracted a breakout case and were asymptomatic in order to prevent spreading Covid to others.
Apparently, some Fidelity staff have no desire to be as considerate, or responsible.
I urge anyone who might be referred to Fidelity to refuse their services and find another company (call ahead and ask) who places the health and safety of their customers first.
Also, if you are a Mesa County resident, please share this post to your wall to help warn others. You just might save a life, or many lives.
Update: I received a message from the closer stating "I am requesting that you remove this (FB) post as it is tortious interference with a business", which appears to be a not so veiled threat of legal action if I do not remove my post as a tort is a wrongdoing such as libel.
As nothing in my post is untrue, but is either factual or an opinion, neither of which constitutes libel, I am not removing the post.
Also in her message, instead of apologizing for putting us at risk, she suggested WE should have requested she wear a mask or go outside (instead of her offering such after we informed her we were not going to remove our masks as she was unvaccinated and my wife had just attended a relative's funeral who was unvaccinated and died from Covid), thereby placing the blame on us for her failure to follow CDC guidelines and placing us at risk.
So instead of an apology, or stating she would wear a mask in the future to protect their customers, I get a thinly veiled threat of a lawsuit.
Another reason not to patronize Fidelity, in my opinion.
Apparently, their slogan "Protecting our insured is our first priority" is nothing but hot, Covid infected, air. read more
