Wow wow wow!!! Was passing through Huntsville and found this amazing store! Nina, the owner, is a dynamo! She loves yarn and it shows. She is super brilliant and was an engineer in a former life. She is so knowledgeable about yarn, the different types, the animal/chemical composition and processes used, etc. The selection of different types of yarn and various brands was outstanding. Nina also found a way to connect with everyone in the store, even a shy little girl there with her Mom. Nina gave her some yarn to have to play with. I will be making this a regular stop when I'm in Huntsville. It gets my highest recommendation. read more

Although the selection is good for a yarn shop, the prices are not as listed on some items. Although clearly marked as sale items, the owner bait and switched the prices at the counter and simply refused to honor the price clearly posted on a sign. Additionally, the owner made it clear that the yarn I was buying was not as good a value as other yarn that she offered, it really tainted my feeling about buying the yarn and sort of ruined the experience for me. I think it's fine to have strong opinions about yarns and what you choose to buy, but don't make other people feel badly about what they're buying. Really cozy and lovely selection but the owner was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I entered I was not welcomed like at a normal store, but instead I walked in to a heated debate between the owner and who I assume was another patron. Every other word out of the owners mouth was extremely inappropriate and her excuse for the rudeness and vulgarity was "because she's a northerner". Everything was outrageously expensive and the owner raises prices when you go up to the counter since hardly anything has a price sticker on it. Quiet, homey, great people, nice products albeit a bit pricy. My mother bought some finger weight yarn and loved the product.

I loved crocheting growing up and was so happy my sweet Grandma taught me how (and didn't everyone go through the cross stitching phase???) but that's where my yarn-related personal experience ends. Enter Fiber Artwork! And, I did. My long time best friend and sorority sister is an avid knitter which destresses her and results in some pretty fabulous, beautiful homemade items (beautiful scarfs, wraps, hats, kitchen items). So, for her birthday or Christmas I like to fuel her hobby with gift cards from FA! I stopped in last September-ish to pick up said gift card and to my surprise a large group of sweet ladies (including my sorority sister) were in the back of the shop knitting and chatting and helping each other with their various projects with Ms. Nina leading/offering help/tutoring. I'm not sure if this is a weekly or daily gathering, but best friend really enjoyed it and as I sat watching, I was impressed by the art of all the various projects! Not to mention the fun and fellowship of all who were there! The finished projects on display are exquisite and such a tactile experience - so many are soooooooo soft! She carries everything for the fiber enthusiast from yarns of all price ranges, needles, accessories, it is a fun experience just to browse her shop. TIP: do not use her website to order gift cards - Nina doesn't get notifications because of some glitch, which was a recent issue so I called her store. The shop's recording states to text her and within just a little while she returned my text and happily fixed the issue. She teaches free classes but I don't have the details on that, maybe it is on her website. Visiting family out here in Huntsville from California and, of course, I had to check out the local yarn shop. I'm so happy I did! Nina, the owner, greeted and welcomed me like a guest coming over for a meal. And what a yarny meal it was! Complete with other guests who were busy knitting away in the back and also welcomed me with open arms. Figuratively, of course, because we all were keeping distant and, yes, wearing masks. :) - The selection of yarn, tools, accessories and bags is abundant and on point! - Prices range exactly how you'd think; from more affordable to high end. - Inside the shop it feels homey and welcoming and warm and bright. - Nina is accommodating and resourceful. - Cash and card are both accepted. I will be coming here again and again whenever I'm in town to both purchase wonderful things and to join in on the knitting circles. read more

Nina is fantastic! It's obviously she loves what she does and loves passing on knowledge to others. I've been knitting for a grand total of about a month now and I've already finished one project and a block pattern from a book that teaches patterns. At the end of all twelve, I'll have a blanket and I already have a new addiction! The cost of the yarns can be intimidating to a newby, but the product is well worth it! It's a fun shop with knowledgeable and welcoming staff. It can be a bit overwhelming for those of us who are novices, but the staff is there to support and help with yarns appropriate for your project and even joining a knitting group in the evening to get help with a project or just sharing in the joy of working on your own project. read more

I have never been so offended and disappointed in a business, ever. I was in this shop today and was told, by the owner (with a look of disgust on her face) that simply because I Loom Knit my work is not art. I put the same energy and heart into my projects just as you, Shame on You! This is definitely not your friendly yarn shop - well not if your a Loomer anyway. read more

I cannot believe this shop has so few ratings. It is AWESOME! Nina, Elise, and the staff are very friendly, very helpful, and a joy to work with. I had to move to Huntsville a couple of years ago to help take care of an aging parent. I traveled and moved a lot before that. I have been in a lot of LYS and this one is the best ... hands down! There are always some customers who are willing to help as well. We are like family members. If you're a long-time knitter or crocheter or just want to learn, this shop is for you. There is a Thursday night knit group there in case you can't make it during the day as well as extended hours. If you are a knitting or crocheting fiend, this is the place for you! I wish I could give this store more than 5 stars. I live in another state, but have family in Huntsville, and Nina's yarn shop is a place I have been visiting since I stumbled across it years ago and in the old location. Even though I am a rare customer, it's like I'm falling in among friends. Nina remembers me, she always has neat products to entice and inspire me. She has a great variety of yarns, tools that range from practical to whimsical, and a sunny personality with great humor which makes it more fun to shop. She also ships, takes credit cards, and has all kinds of shop samples to give you ideas. Go! Go! Absolutely worth the trip! read more
