Since moving here, I've tried kielbasa from several places, including Murazzi's and Rossi's Market, but Schiff's is by far the best. Their smoked, fresh, cheddar, and jalapeño kielbasa are incredibly flavorful and taste exceptionally fresh. Their hot food bar also serves delicious homemade-style meals every day, and their seafood tent sale around the holidays is fantastic. Schiff's is a must-visit for fresh, flavorful food!

And, while there are many meat shops in the Scranton area, my family's choice for kielbasa has always been Schiff's even though it's about 20 miles from their home. Now, having moved away from Pennsylvania decades ago, I haven't been able to find kielbasa that is as good as that from Schiff's from my childhood memories. So, during a recent trip "back home", I stopped by Schiff's to stock up on kielbasa. Our daughter also requested that we pick up its necessary accompaniment, horseradish. My family loves both the regular white horseradish (spicier) and the red one that is prepared with beets. Schiff's also has an excellent selection of other meats: a deli with sliced meats, cheeses, and specialty salads; fresh fruits and vegetables; ethnic foods such as pirogies; and more.

Welcome to another video everyone, today, I am doing a takeout from a little place called Modern…read moreMarket. It's a small store where you can get drinks and food items like hoagies, which is one of their big sellers from what I understand. They also offer hot items like footlong chili dogs. The owner greats you with a smile. The hoagie which you will see is packed with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and comes with a packet of dressing. These are premade daily every morning, but you can request one to be made. The prices they charge are very reasonable, if you are in the area and want something good, check out Modern Market. Until next video, be blessed and stay safe everyone! Watch Our Hoagie Review 9.19.2025 @ 12 AM https://youtu.be/_aUnHwItHNU

We enjoyed everything we purchased there. All was fresh and delicious. I urge you to give this market a try.

I thought this place would be somewhere between Schiff's and Wegman's. Walking in, it struck me…read moremore as a local meat market than a place you'd go out of your way to visit. Just to give an example, the Meat Locker (long closed) had some creations that photographed well and were genuine specialties. Here, the name of the game seems to be ethnic tastes, namely special types of sausage. Main knock for me is that they sold me 3 choice filets at 26.99 per pound. I think this is outrageous considering Schiff's probably still sells the entire tenderloin for $16/lb or less. The cuts were low-end coming from what I call the "tail" of the tenderloin, actually with a vein of gristle. They also stock frozen local pierogis which I can't fault them on the quality of, but I cooked a dozen of them today and will note that they were a bit too bready and grainy for my taste. I also bought fresh kielbasa which I didn't get a chance to cook but looked great. There are tons of exceedingly positive reviews on another platform singing the praises of Bosak's, but I can't find many specifics and my experience puts it into more of an emergency/novelty category for those who live further downvalley.
