On top of all that, he's reasonably priced and a nice guy. The curved railing I needed was challenging, and he and his team got it done. Even worked the weekend to stay on schedule. If you're looking for welding or similar metalwork, your search is over. Go here…read more I recently bought an old steel bike frame with a very poor repair to one of the joints: there was barely any metal holding the joint together, and there was a hole melted in one of the tubes. I was concerned that it'd be hard to get the joint properly repaired, and/or prohibitively expensive. I stopped by Custom Metal Manufacturing around opening time. The workshop is a treasure trove: minibikes, custom signs, and sculptures everywhere. Ed and Gerard were super friendly and great storytellers. Ed looked at the frame, said "I can fix that", and fired up his welding gear right away. Ten minutes of good conversation later the work was done, and at a very reasonable price. The joint is now reinforced with ample steel, and the hole is closed up. Everything I hoped for and more.

Boats are expensive to maintain, so it's important to trust that your boatyard is reasonable and…read morecompetent. My boat has been in and out of a number of North Bay yards over the past 30 years, and Bay Marine is the one I trust. Each item in their work orders is either a fixed price or an accurate, reasonable estimate that they usually come in under. If additional work is needed they ask for a change order. Jaime keeps me in the loop as they work through issues. I can get at the boat 24/7 if necessary while it's in the yard. I used to get a bottle of wine along with my bill from KKMI, and it was the most expensive wine I ever got. Bay Marine has good communication, prices no higher than they have to be, and an always filled candy dish in the office. Good enough for me.

Kate's stand was broken…read more(http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/qwJLYZE2xJiBBMyZ4llTBA?select=zQUSAS7vHaXQmTNm5bv3MQ). She felt sad, adrift. Anchorless. Without roots. She had lost her identity, and all the pretty dresses in the world weren't going to make it right. Life suddenly didn't seem to matter, and with her newfound mobility she started hanging with the wrong crowd (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/qwJLYZE2xJiBBMyZ4llTBA?select=yTzQqZoPTc5zSkIOAfaZjA). She wasn't sure how it had all gone so terribly awry, and how she could get back to that safe, secure, and grounded place where she once was. After an abortive attempt to fix it using Superglue, I took Kate's stand to Weiss Welding after explaining the situation to a very understanding man on the phone. He looked at it and assured me it could easily be fixed. He was very sweet and concerned about what welding might do to the appearance of the mirrored base of the stand, but functionality was my biggest concern. A mere day and $30 later, I picked up my new and improved stand, appearing to be even sturdier than before (and the mirrored base looks completely unaltered). I pulled Kate away from making lanyards on Haight Street, plunked her back on the stand, and we were back in business. With a newfound lease on life, Kate not only has turned her life around, but has decided to give back to the community, taking part in anti-war rallies (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/qwJLYZE2xJiBBMyZ4llTBA?select=lAjc9XMtgR3wyyKX3rDz1g) and speaking out against eating disorders. Thanks to Weiss Welding, another mannequin life has been saved!
