Though it's just as easy to buy much of the newsagent's goods downstairs at Woolies (where cheaper magazines, drinks, candies and general stationary is a quick travelator ride downstairs), a lot of people frequent this newsagency. There's usually a few people lingering around the right side of the counter, waiting to ask for a casket ticket or Scratchie; and then there's the magazine browsers standing obliviously in the aisle, meaning sometimes the store can be a little difficult to navigate. If you want to buy a card, regular magazine or candies at a reasonable price, there's no reason to come here. However, if you're somewhat artistic you might find this newsagent intriguing. There's an extensive range of stationary such as coloured cardboard and opaque contact paper (the adhesive paper used to cover schoolbooks). They didn't have opaque contact paper around when I was a kid, but it's awesome stuff: I bought several rolls of fire-engine red and black opaque contact paper here and turned an old dressing table into a funky 70s-style retro dresser. It basically works as liquid paint or wallpaper - not the flimsy stuff I remember from my childhood. Artists in the area should visit Paddington Newsagent before turning to more expensive art supply stores. There's an extensive range of artist's pencils and beautiful paper along one aisle; even when I'm not feeling like buying, I still enjoy browsing this section.

It was the 2nd time around for me, and when I was pregnant with my first, the doctors told me drinking Raspberry Leaf tea was good for bringing on labour, and I'm not at all sure it worked. This time around, I wanted the damn tea as well, and no one stocked it. Not one of the chemists I went to or the smaller health food shops stocked what I needed... not even the supermarkets. It's tea people, come on! So I walk into Go Vita and a lovely man greets me with a 'woah you are getting to have the baby now yes' and I nodded yeah yeah. What's new. So I told him what I was after and he said that they didn't have the tea, but had raspberry leaf capsules, so i wouldn't have to go through the bother of making the tea. Fantastic I thought! He then went on about when his daughters were babies and I was stuck there for another few minutes, but it told me this guy was the owner of the store, and he definetely knew his stuff. Which is always a fresh air from asking the staff who never know anything. This is a great place to get your supplements no one else has, and they are all natural therapists and owner worked... so you'll always be getting highly personal service. Love them, will definetely be back... if baby number 3 is ever on the horizon. PS. The prices may be a bit higher than the normal place you buy stuff at though.

I must not be looking right or they just didn't stock it. Forgetting about the search for Quinoa grain, I ended up going to Go Vita to buy some fish oil supplements and as I was about to go to the counter to check out... There it was, Organic Quinoa grains. As it turns out, there are a lot of great organic products you can buy here that would be great to cook with. Not just cook with, there are plenty of products that are great for skin care like their goats milk soaps, I love it. Feels so great for my skin. The staff are very nice. They really informed advice and genuine care for their customers. Given that they are professional naturopaths also gives me peace of mind knowing that their advice isn't just wishy washy chatter, but actually sound information. Go Vita is a pretty good place to go, to stock on some hard to find supplements, vitamins and other healthy products. I am a nurse and someone who has chronic health issues so I am understand what makes a good doctor…read more I am thrilled to have found Taigum Central Medical Practice, there are 10+ doctors on staff and also practice based nurses. Recently they employed a physiotherapist and a dietitian works from the practice fortnightly. It is a one stop shop for all things health. I have always been able to get an appointment quickly, for example i phoned at 0805 this morning and I was sitting in my doctors office at 0900, now that is service! Of course you pay for what you get. Most appointments are $70 with a rebate from medicare for $35. The friendly receptionists are happy to process your rebate and have it sent directly to your bank account. I have seen a few people get bulk bill appointments, I guess it depends on circumstances. The waiting area is large and comfortable, with a small children's play area and a TV for us grown ups. The waiting room is almost always bursting at the seams but people are seen quickly and if there is a delay you can get a buzzer from the reception desk and go to the shops in the shopping centre. Mostly if they are running late it is only by 15 minutes. I for one am happy to wait because it means that if I am really unwell that I know the doctors will take the time with me and not rush to get on to the next patient. They also open late a couple of nights a week until 7pm for those who need to see a GP after work. Also they are open until 12pm on Saturdays for those who have become unwell over the weekend. If you need a referral to a specialist these GPs are fantastic and know of the best specialist in Brisbane to refer you on to. Parking is free and just out the front of the practice.

I injured my ankle a few years ago playing touch and being a young student at the time decided to forgo seeking treatment. This was a huge mistake and over the years not only did my ankle never heal, but my body adjusted to compensate - which only caused more issues and pain. I decided to finally seek help and after trying two other physiotherapists nothing seemed to be working. Luckily for me, I stumbled across Barefoot online and based on their approach decided to give them a crack. During my first appointment, we did a very thorough overview of my specific injury, my whole body, my day-to-day experience and what I wanted to eventually achieve physically. I was pleasantly surprised at how in-depth this process was and how the results from this meeting alone drastically improved my injury. Following my appointment, I was assigned exercises that were practical, manageable and most importantly enjoyable. What's better was that were I to be under the weather or get bored, I could easily interchange or intensify my exercises. Over the next few months I saw my physiotherapist, Sal, many times. Every appointment I went to was reactive and based on progression. Depending on my adventures between appointments, my treatment and exercises were modified to ensure I saw and felt improvements with every visit. During busy weeks where I was unable to train as much as I would have liked, I never felt any guilt coming to see Sal because she understood that life is complex and I knew that between her expertise and confidence in me, we would be back on the horse in no time. For over a month now I've been using specialised training equipment Barefoot lent me, free of charge. By comparison, I know physio's that charge for tape! What's more, as my ankle improved I needed less and less appointments - a sign of true dedication to the patient. What has made Barefoot truly stand out however, is that I am treated as more than a simply customer. Sal was (and still is) incredibly attuned and sincerely dedicated to ensuring that I not only continue to improve my ankle's condition, but that I also live a genuinely good life. During my time here, Sal and the team at Barefoot have treated me like family. I always look forward to our appointments where I am not only expertly and professionally treated but enjoy meaningful conversation and a sharing of our experiences. Sal's outlook on life and problem-solving talents even helped me gain a new perspective regarding my own future pathway. I could continue this review with the many specific moments and features that make Barefoot Physiotherapy the virtuous establishment it is, but for the sake of anyone reading this I'll sum up by saying: they don't just treat the injury, they treat the person; and Barefoot has treated me very, very well. Kempsie Road Medical Centre offers your basic General Practitioner's service for those unwanted non-emergencies, as well as a nurse on duty to take care of the even smaller things. Dr Satish Prasad is the doctor and he has over 20 years experience practicing as a medical practitioner and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, as the placards over the walls can attest to. Apparently he also speaks fluent Hindi. What I like about Kempsie Road Medical Centre is that it's still a new practice, and therefore has less patients. Appointments are easy to make; I've found I can usually get an appointment on the day I call (rather than waiting for weeks like you do at some places). Oh, and they bulk bill. Perfect for uni students.

I don't know if I do want to recommend it to anyone else, just in case too many people discover how great it is and then it becomes hard to get an appointment!
