This is such a neat spot to learn about the culture and history of the cities of Houston and Montgomery, as well as the state of Texas. Not only is there a main house complete with artifacts and informational posters and pamphlets, but there are also incredibly knowledgeable docents who can walk you through the areas.
Julie gave us an well educational interactive tour through not only the front house, but also two other historical cabins and the workplace of a lumberjack. The authenticity of the artifacts, furnishings, and overall style of the lodgings (some pieces are originals, while some are replicas or refurbished) is incredible and really transports you back in time.
This is a wonderful place to bring kids, particularly if they're in a school system in the area that will be having them participate in the Texas historical project. Thank you again, Julie for taking your time during the cold weather, to explain such an interesting history to us. read more
