The techs are professional and polite. They take care of the issue while keeping you fully aware of the potential cost. Full disclosure throughout the entire process. I shy away from calling a "major company" but Hometown Hero conducts business like a small town business. I highly recommend getting over any preconceptions you may have of a larger company and put your trust in them. I have not been disappointed.

The technician was here for 45 minutes, replaced a $30.00 part, and the total charge was almost $400.00. I don't think the $150.00 charge was applied to anything. When we asked for breakdown of the final charges they refused to provide it. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this company if you prefer to deal with a company that offers a transparent pricing, are honest, helpful, and willing to explain their bill.

The technician called (did not come to my home) asked me many questions regarding issue with the units and told me he was submitting a work order. The work order enabled him to get an idea the home warranty would pay for repairs. He then told/texted me he would apply the 777.00 for both unit repairs to the purchase price of a new washer/dryer set. 420217/When I texted so I just pay the balance? He responded no that I would need to pay total price upfront and he would refund me the 777.00 when the home warranty paid him. He said he would provide an invoice/contract covering the terms within 24 hours. As of 12/17/2024 nothing. I requested refund of 130.00 service call fee and he refused. I would be wary there is no follow through.

The things that make me like going to this Home Depot... 1. The app. If I don't choose to buy the item online and do a pick up the app tells me what aisle the item I'm looking for is in and what section of the aisle I can find it at. 2. They offer a veterans discount. Not much... But it pretty much covers the sales tax here in Iowa anyway... It's easy to sign up for and add to your app if you have ID.me setup. Once it's in your app you just scan the QR code for the discount when you check out. Like any other Home Depot or Lowe's no one is EVER around when you actually need them. And I've learned to deal with that... Lol Parking is easy. The lot is huge and the store is fully handcapped accessible. They do offer a special parking space for veterans as well (one spot). The store is clean and easy to navigate. When I do need to flag someone down for help they are usually personable enough...when you can finally locate someone. The big picture... It is what is is. A HUGE big box store, with affordable prices, housing every item you could need for a project...and then some!

I walked over to the check out, and saw another customer asking a question- the lazy checker didn't respond and just pulled out her phone- I guess to look up the item, the customer said, "Never mind I can look it up too, but probably faster." Then the lazy can't be bothered cashier, still leaning on a check out stand, said to me in an I'm gonna fall asleep tone, "Those registers are closed." So I went to a different register, then heard another customer say "Is anybody working here that can help us."The lazy employee just sat there on the closed check out stand, but a young man ran over to help. At that point I just pretended like I lost my wallet and left. What was I thinking? It's always the same. ‍ If you go to this West Des Moines, Home Depot, and see this employee, she won't be helpful at all, best to go to Lowe's or Menards.
