My neighbor put up a fence. Yes it is so much better then the ugly chain link and wood fence she had, there were weeds and plants that become unruly. Instead of putting the fence on her property line, it was placed a little further back, so that all that is left on our side. They cut down the big ones but left the stumps dirt level or a little above. Other plants, weeds, rocks limbs and rubbish on our side. That should be all on her side that is her mess not ours. Since it is her property I cannot do anything to it. Before the fence was up and if they could pull out the posts of the wood and chain link fence they could have fully removed the hole plant and not leave us with the stumps on our side. Please rectify this situation. read more

Similar experience to others. Communication ceased once deposit was made, strung along with no clear start time. You get what you pay for. We went through Hone Depot to save some money, but man.. I regret it. Going out to rebuild a section of the fence right now that always blows over in windy conditions. I'm still making payments on this garbage vinyl fence. They also failed to remove the concrete moorings from the old fence, which was part of the deal. We found them hidden in bushes later in the year. Nice. read more

I cannot say enough about this company from the owner to the staff and the installers. I had someone run through my fence from the back yard to the front yard. My fence was demolished and with one call Patrick came out and put up a temporary fence for my dog and got me a quote on the weekend to get it fixed. Not only that my fence was repaired and looks as good as new in less than 72 hours on a holiday weekend. I highly recommend fence one for all your fence needs. We contracted with them for a split rail and wire fence for a dog yard; at the same time we asked for a gate for our back porch. Quote for the fence was reasonable but didn't include the gate. We asked again about the gate, they said sure. They installed the fence, but didn't lay it out according to our requests, and again ignored the gate request. Fence was adequate but the materials were marginal and the crew left gaps in the wire so it doesn't keep the dogs in. I have now called 4 times, each time getting a "we'll get back to you" on both the fence and the gate. They never get back to us. As with other reviews, I would say "unreliable"; there are lots of fence companies, I recommend you choose another one. read more

Fence One is unreliable and unprofessional. I signed a quote with them on March 1stto repair a chain link fence in my yard. I chose them because my dog keeps escaping and we needed to repair and add tension wire to stop it. They told me it was 2-3 weeks lead time. I even called them back to add more work to the job in early April, but they never sent the quote. I called a few times in April and even early May (at that point, we're way past 2-3 weeks) and every time there was a different excuse and another 'we'll get that done in 2-3 weeks' time. Meanwhile, my dog keeps escaping and I keep making excuses to our neighbors. I had given up on them until I saw them working on a neighbor's house - and we were the ones who gave the neighbor a recommendation to hire Fence One. I'll give them the fact that they were doing a different type of fence, but we have been waiting since March 1 to get this fixed without so much as a call back from them. After I called to complain, they spent the next two weeks telling me 'you'll have it tomorrow and we'll be there by next week' before I finally gave up again and hired someone else. By the time the fence gets fixed, it'll be 4 months (or more) since I trusted them to do the work that was supposed to be completed in a matter of weeks. By the time I realized they weren't coming it was too late - no other contractor could fit me in or prices were so crazy it would cost me 3x what I expected to pay. They've wasted a lot of my time, cost me more money, and could never just be straight with me. read more

Zero communication in this company they took a month to start my fence job they did a shoty job trying to get them back to fix the problems was like pulling teeth and I hadn't paid them in full. I emailed them texted and talked to them on the phone they wanted to get paid but I wanted the fence correctly installed the gate the bottom was 3 inches off from the top the fence was crooked and the oner Al come out to look at it one day and turns to me and says " I should never take the small jobs" then looks at the problems and says to me "how do you want me to fix it".. just a very poor company to deal with all around it took 3 weeks after the owner came out to get it corrected... read more

Avoid Fence One at ALL costs unless you like being ignored, strung along, and don't really need a fence installed. Owner visited the site on May 13th and provided a quote by email. Owner visited the site again on May 22nd and stated that the quote was reviewed and the value wasn't correct. Quote increased by over 30%! Despite the increase, on May 24th a contract for work was signed, a deposit was given, temporary fencing was installed, and we were provided an anticipated start date of, "3 weeks from today" (June 14th). Between May 24th and June 12th, NO communication was provided or responded to. Facebook messages were ignored. On June 12th, 2 days before work was to begin, the company finally responded to our email and phone call stating, "Work cannot begin until July 9th. We need to order materials, mainly for the gate." On July 3rd we called to confirm the July 9th start date and were told, "We have a scheduling meeting Friday, we'll call you after that." Needless to say we never heard anything Friday! On July 5th we Facebook messaged to confirm scheduling. Company called and said, "Materials delivered Monday, old fence removal begins Tuesday between, new fence install begins Thursday. You'll need to pay for the materials upon delivery." On Monday July 8th, NO materials were delivered and NO communication was provided until we called and were told, "Materials delivered tomorrow with start of fence removal." On Tuesday, the day the work was finally scheduled to begin, there was NO crew on site; NO material delivery; NO communication from company. We called and were told, "We have a new lady in the office and there was a scheduling miscommunication. Owner #2 will come and walk the site tomorrow at 6AM. Materials will be delivered after that and work will begin Thursday." On Wednesday, Owner #2 walked the site and shared that gate to be built hadn't been built and would be delayed. We discussed compensation for the month+ long delay and owner assured us, "We'll make it right". Following this visit, Owner #2 emailed stating, "We can no longer do the work and will refund the deposit." It's clear that after being under contract for almost two months, this company had NO expectation of ever completing this fencing project. To say we are frustrated is an extreme understatement. I would NOT recommend to anyone! I cannot believe a company that operates in this shady of a manner is still in business. The bright spot...I did not have to fight to have our deposit returned and they did install temporary fencing. read more

We went to the Hartford Home and Garden show and were really excited when we met Patrick (the son) of a local father and son fence company. We were immediately impressed and walked away after meeting both of them knowing that, when we were ready for our fence project, we were going to trust Fence One! I had the old wooden fence replaced with vinyl by Fence One in 2020. There were many issues, including needing the fence as close to ground as possible to keep out squirrels n bunnies but the installers kept saying "don't worry" even after my neighbor came out to express concern for his own small dog getting into my yard, the dog is not nice. Now storms and snow squalls panels blowing down risking the safety of my dog ang coyotes in the neighborhood! To find out on utube that the panels and braces should actually be attached by screws or brackets also! Never done. Panels have blown over in these crazy winds despite my many calls and voicemails over many months nothing was repaired nor calls returned. This is all in addition to my gate being not secure or safe and since then enclosed with cinder blocks in front and back. No thanks to Fence One I am now paying a contractor another almost 1K to fix all these issues . read more

I hate leaving this review, but customers need to know what they are getting into. I hired this company a year ago to install a fence. Al came right out for a quote and was very nice and professional. There were some slow and confused communications but the fence went up and it was beautiful. Very happy with it. Sadly, less than a year later, a large limb took out two panels and a pole during a snow storm. I called Fence One in early April to have them come look at the replacement work. I was told they'd be out there in the next 2 weeks. No one ever came. I called about once a week for the next month and never heard back. I was going to let it go, but then my neighbor came over and showed me how much of an eyesore the broken fence was on his property. So I called Fence One again and luckily got ahold of someone in Mid-late May. I was told I was on the list, they would probably get to me next week! I was thrilled! Next week came and went. So did the next. I called, left a message no reply. This repeated about every other day for two weeks. Then they picked up and told me the following week! Perfect, I told them! My family is on vacation, please feel free to fix it while I am away! When we got back from vacation, no repair was done. So I repeated the call and no call back routine for a couple more weeks until I finally caught Al's son on the phone. He said his dad was in my town next week and we set up an 8 am appointment for a Tuesday. Well 8 am that Tuesday rolls around, I'm in my suit, ready to go to work just waiting for Al. 8, 815, 830, 9 am. No call. No Al. I call them back, asking if Al is okay. I am told he'll be there by 1030. I say that's fine and call in late to work. When he hadn't arrived by noon, I went to work. In my penultimate interaction, I spoke to a female receptionist and explained the history above. I said, I understand it's a very busy season and I'd be happy to do the repair myself if you'll just sell me the replacement parts, I'll pay whatever price. Fence one claims to be the licensed dealer for my fence brand in the area. She said she would look into it and get back to me. There was no getting back to me. I called one final time and got Al's son on the phone. I again explained the situation and essentially begged them to sell me the fence parts so that I can make the repair myself and get my neighbors off my back and have some peace of mind and a complete fence that I've been waiting for all summer. The gentleman was rather brusque and said will send Al out to see if that's appropriate. That was three weeks ago. They installed the fence fine, the price was OK too. But being abandoned like this is infuriating. And the people on the phone clearly don't care. I would recommend going with anyone else and wish I had instead of saving a few dollars. read more

Great job installing fence. I have had others install fencing for me before...the fence one crew was outstanding and did a great job. Extremely clean - surprising for a fence install! Giving it four stars as the sales process was very complicated. Errors on the quote, kept having to tell them to correct simple things (email address, amounts, etc) and like other reviews....no follow up after initial deposit. After two months, I called to ask for a update. At that point, was told that the price quote they gave me was off by $800. I don't think they were planning to ever call me after my initial deposit. Anyways, I had to pay more but the owner was very professional and Karen in the office was great. Just be prepared for a very aloof sales person with terrible follow up and check every detail on the agreement. read more

Then he returned finished the work. They left a few details out and again kept pushing me back in the schedule. He corrected some small details but not the major one which was a large gap in the gate. It barely latches because of the space and now i have rabbitt using it as a highway. Reached out again to him two years later because i got tired. No response. I had a fence originally installed during the summer of 2013 - for that time period I would give the company 5 stars - they lived up to all they said they would do - and actually went above beyond to ensure the fence was completed by a specific date. Fast forward to now. In November 2018 a section of my fence broke an fell down. I emailed pictures to the email address on the website asking for an estimate to repair the one section. No Answer. After the first of the year I completed their online form stating that the fence was damaged and I would like an estimate to have it repaired. Filling in the form during the winter months I was hoping to get an early spring time frame for repairs. No Answer. I again filled out the online form at the end of May. The company called and said some one would come out to look at the damage and prepare an estimate. A man come out the 1st weekend of June we talked about what needed to be done and he stated he would have an estimate for repairs. The following Thursday as I had not yet heard back I called the office and was told that the man would be in tomorrow (Friday) and they would have the estimate for me. A week goes by and nothing. I called the office on Friday and the person who answered was apparently not having a good day. They stated they were with a customer and would call me back. So I waited and waited and waited - NOTHING. The next week I filled out a 3rd form online asking if they let me know where I could purchase the necessary pieces to have the section repaired - NOTHING so very disappointed - and will never recommend this company to anyone looking for fencing. read more

Fence one started out as a good deal and the estimator was fantastic. We essentially went with them however they didn't show up on the day they said they would- a couple days later. They worked for 2 days and I haven't seen them since even after repeated calls saying that they would be in touch and still heard nothing. Can I deduct money from their estimate for horrible customer service?? Still don't know when they're coming back. I guess I'm lucky I haven't paid them a nickel and maybe I'll put them through the same BS that they put me through?? The estimator even told me that they have a dozen crews working for them? Thank you, Fence One, for the beautiful work you did to replace a section of our fence that came down during one of the many Nor'easters of early 2018. The part of the fence that came down was an older, cedar fence that didn't match the newer fence that had been installed a few years ago by prior owners. You were able to not only match the newer part of the fence but also fortify the entire fence and make sure there were no gaps. The work had to be done at the top of a precarious hillside and you navigated it perfectly. The gentlemen were courteous and made sure I understood the work they had done. And they did it so fast! Insanely disappointed !!! Considering contacting BBB soon . First off it took them over 5 week after taking my deposit to start the job . I had called multiple times to ask when it would being and Patrick kept pushing me back over and over again ! Saying they would be there and NEVER showed up ! When they finally had their guys come out they sent 3 guys that left their beer bottle caps in my yard and saw them peeing in my yard !! I was home and they could have asked to use the bathroom ! They did a horrible job ! Said it would be custom made to be level with the ground because I have a small dog . I was told " you should have gotten a bigger dog!!!!" They finally sent someone else to "fix"it ... they pounded the fence into the ground more and now my fence looks uneven . There are still tons of large gaps everywhere to the point that I have several bricks lining my property !!! I have called multiple times for them to fix it and they still haven't and it's been months ! I put my fence 2 feet into my property ... And They also did fencing for my neighbors property and closed my property off without my permission !!!!! The only time you can get a hold of them is when they want their money . Other then that you can't get anything done in a timely manner !! I paid over 10 grand for this fence and it looks like crap! I had this job done in April ! It's now the end of December! I called a few weeks ago to have them come look at it ... Few weeks ago he told me he would be here in an hour ...... It's been weeks ! Look for a different fence company .
