It's so funny leaving this review 20 years later. I went to CU from PreK-1st grade. It's a part of…read moremy childhood I hold onto fondly. I was a student when the giant treehouse was built. I don't want to be a teacher but if I were I'd want to be like the ones who shaped my time here. It makes me tear up thinking about all I experienced from meeting famous authors, starring in musicals, tipping in my Halloween costume on the yellow brick road, and that one time I refused to color in my connect the dots assignments and it was sent home with a note (my mom later framed it). Arlington is already diverse but it was good to see all the different backgrounds my friends were. If you're wondering if your kids will value going here, I am certain they will remember it fondly as CU fostered my love for reading, adventure, and friendship.

We made the tough decision to transfer our daughter to Children's University to be closer to home…read more I couldn't be happier with the decision. The greatest compliment has been my child saying about her old school, "I'm not returning because I love CU." (Talk about music to our ears when she said that.) CU is a warm, family-oriented environment that caters to the individual child. It provides the academic rigor vital for us, along with a host of enrichment opportunities from robotics and animal husbandry to chess and cheer. During our exploration, what sealed the deal was what we witnessed during our CU tour. We passed a group of children (who appeared close in age to my child) working on a group project in the library. They were discussing their different perspectives and had books that they were referencing. While we knew nothing about the project, I was impressed by how immersed they were in the work, and all appeared to be thoroughly enjoying the educational experience. So many vital skills were underway without them knowing it, which filled us with optimism about our child's future development at CU. Our family couldn't be happier to be part of the CU family. Our daughter is thriving; she has the best, most wonderful teacher. It's a true partnership, and we're beyond grateful. If you're looking for a program for your child, I recommend CU. It's a blend of academic excellence with a curriculum that challenges and inspires, enveloped in the most attentive environment dedicated to helping your child reach their fullest potential.

STEER CLEAR! - a former student…read more I was an Alpha-Omega who almost graduated from here. I transferred out in High School and found that every other school in this area is better than this cesspool of toxicity. First of all, faculty here is horrible. I would say 10% of them are decent people, 70% are rude and incompetent, and 20% are EVIL PEOPLE who should NOT be let around/allowed to work around kids. Over my time at the school, there was multiple issues with discriminatory teachers (who chose to belittle children off of race, gender, religion, etc.) and teachers who had questionable actions towards students. All of these issues get swept under the rug, of course, because the Oakridge way is to never take accountability for their wrongdoings and push it onto the child somehow. Any problem with faculty is dismissed by Admin, and if something of severe consequence happens to your kid, good luck getting anything fixed. I had many horrid experiences with teachers, as did a lot of my classmates (to the severity of which any other school would fire them for) and the school always conveniently managed to find an excuse or spin it to where it was on the kid. This was a common occurrence for a lot of students; more than just me. The Headmaster as of right now, Mr. Burgy, really cares about the kids at the school, but the board (filled of people who get free tuition and haven't been enrolled in 10-20 years) severely limits and hinders any meaningful and good progress in the institution. The board is the one pulling the strings behind Oakridge, and that's the biggest issue. They don't spend any time on campus to learn about issues, and instead go off of their outdated experiences. The students aren't much better either. Lots of bullying and hurt took place here, but that's the environment the school breeds. The school claims to care about bullying, yet when I was getting death threats and cyberbullied online, they wanted to turn a blind eye. (I've yet to determine if it was because one of the bullies was a teacher's kid, or just negligence like previous bullying instances with other students.) Seriously, save your kid's mental wellbeing and your pocket from endless therapy bills by avoiding this place. If you don't listen to anyone else, listen to me, someone who lived this school for 13 years; who grew up here, and was discarded and treated like trash.

They call for pickup for minor infractions and you can tell that they are doing everything they can to push my kid out of the school bc they don't like him. They don't care about ur kids just ur money so don't give them any of it. Worst experience ever and I'm shocked these people r actually running a daycare. It's a transactional experience.

Following the change in ownership from the original proprietor, it is evident that the condition of this establishment has taken a downturn under the leadership of Tiffany Reason. During the time when Melissa held ownership and managed the place with integrity and empathy, our experiences were positive and commendable. Unfortunately, the transition to new ownership, with Tiffany Reason assuming the role of director, has resulted in a notable decline in the overall quality of the establishment. The recruitment of teaching staff has been a particularly disappointing aspect. It is clear that the current staff lacks the necessary qualifications for their positions. Recollections of our child's initial days at the facility stand out, as it appeared that the staff expected our 18-month-old to comply with instructions beyond his developmental stage. One distressing incident involved a teacher using forceful tactics to confine our child to a chair. This unsettling experience was repeated on a daily basis during our time there. Regrettably, both Tiffany and Kelly are lacking in the essential attributes required to effectively manage a childcare enterprise. This is evident from their conduct, including the unauthorized use of personal belongings for their personal gain, without seeking prior consent. Despite their assurances to reimburse us for the damages incurred, we have yet to receive any compensation. Our tenure at this establishment was short-lived, spanning only 4-5 weeks, during which the decision to depart from this environment proved to be a wise one. We have been fortunate to find an alternative school where our son is thriving under the guidance of dedicated educators. Since our departure, we have been approached by numerous friends seeking recommendations for childcare options. Regrettably, we have been compelled to share our unfavorable experience and advise them to steer clear of this establishment. Our child's well-being is of paramount importance, and it is our sincere hope that others can learn from our unfortunate encounter. It brings us immense satisfaction to report that our son is excelling in his new school, and we hold his teachers in high regard. In light of our journey, we strongly advise parents who prioritize their child's welfare to carefully consider alternatives and exercise caution when contemplating enrollment at this establishment. I personally would give them negative stars but unfortunately google does not allow us to do so.

When I said something about the end of day report app the director said they do t use it for 3 year olds. I said well she is 2.... The two year old class was clearly too full. The infant class smells terrible. The floor and walls are sticky and drawn on. Director is not welcoming and seems in a rush or irritated by parent interactions with her. Lastly they let someone take my child from the school without checking her Id or if she was even on the list. All of this happened in 3 days. This place is cheap and unorganized. I wish I could get my money back but Tonya hasn't called me back. I want to report this negligence to the state as well on Monday. BEWARE!!!

Key points from my review…read more * Staff is disrespectful to other teachers, parents, and students. I was told Ms. Scales does not know how to run a classroom by the "principal", when I have first hand experience that proves otherwise. * There are only 03 grade levels (Kinder, 1st, and 2nd), but the school tries to keep your money by magically accommodating other grade levels. In other words, the school has "3rd" and "4th" grade students mixed with second graders with a teacher who is not equipped or certified to teach such. Parents should realize the severe setback that can cause for their children. * The school advertises small class sizes, but has 28 in one kindergarten class. * The teachers will dismiss students disrupting the class and will send them to another class (preschool) or make you pick them up. They will refuse to teach your child. * There is a security system that is often times not working, with no one in the office or checking Ids, you are often left with anyone having access to take your child. * I was put in a predicament where we found my six-year-old was left roaming the halls unattended for over 15 minutes. She could have walked out at any point. * On google, many of the positive reviews were "paid" for through raffles of game consoles and free week of tuition. * The staff will physically pick up and move your children even though the "principal" admitted the state will not allow them to touch your children any longer. I would never trust anything any employee here has to say to me. This facility is short staffed and runs sufficiently in clicks and lies. I genuinely believe your child will experience a complete mental setback if you were to send them here. I have since had my daughter at a new school and it has been amazing. There are other options in the area that consistently communicate, are positive, certified, and structured. For the money you pay for this daycare facility, it is not at all worth it. Put your money elsewhere or you will also be paying for therapy. Because unfortunately, all that you have read is only a snip-it of the dissatisfaction and frustration my family has endured. My original review is 1800 words that still could not fully explain how this daycare facility will fail your child. My daughter has blossomed since leaving this school.
