I went to William Monnig, Handley, and Eastern Hills HS in the 90s and started junior college with the math skills of a 3rd grader. I could do long division but I didn't even know how to reduce a fraction. I was passed over as stupid by all of my teachers. None of them thought I was smart enough to waste their time on. Actually, it's hard to concentrate on school work when the kid next to you just made a big scene about sitting next to you because "white people smell like milk or bologna." Or when 8 girls have formed a circle around you in PE class and are pushing you around. These types of things happened daily and in front of teachers. No one ever tried to intervene. I, however got plenty of detentions for not going to class. Gee, I wonder why? I lived in fear for my life after a girl tried to set my hair on fire. A girl I had never even met. Don't think for a second that anyone asked why I wouldn't go to school. Decided to get the heck out of that dead end hell hole when I was 17. I was still classified as a freshman. Bravo Fort Worth! I sure hope you get one of those blue ribbon banners. Hahaaaa! Actually, I wish we would have had a voucher program where I could've chosen a healthier and less hostile environment. Ya I tested low because I didn't know ANYTHING. Thank God this is America. The land of opportunity. Where pulling one's self up by their own boot straps and hard work pays off. I went to jr college to catch up on what I didn't learn in my formative years, transferred to a university, and graduated with honors. No thanks to you fwisd. I was always top in my class when taught in a stable environment. Wow Fort Worth, how did you let me slip through the cracks? How many other kids didn't make it out like I did? Worst. Schools. Ever.

In fact the routine of wearing a uniform actually helped with his organization skills. We could not be any happier. The student to teacher ratio is ideal; on average, there are about 10 kids in each class. His previous school had 800 students in his whole class. At Newman, he has about 60 students in his entire class. Newman really is private school experience without the expense. Teachers are very genuine; it's really about the kids. My son's GPA went from 2.3 to a 3.4. He is involved in sports just as he was at his previous school with the exception that he is actually being coached. It's refreshing.

My child did decent in public school but I found that we were experiencing problem after problem - Teacher retention, constant practical jokes, unruly students, zero consequences... my child was turning in assignments whenever he wanted. I felt like he was learning some really bad habits that would make for a rude awakening in college. My child was not happy about leaving his friends and moving to Nolan is junior year initially. After a month , he says... it's like kids are happy to be at school, the kids are all well behaved, I have some of the best teachers I've ever had, through religion class I'm learning a lot about myself. They are strict with uniform, bell schedule, behavior expectations but when my child sees everyone else falling in line, he does too. He is a child of color and we find that he has felt very welcomed and excepted by staff and students. Admin has taken the time to really connect with him. I'm so incredibly grateful to Nolan.

I would not recommend this school based on our experience…read more My children attended during their freshman year, and they repeatedly came home upset about how rude and unwelcoming they felt the environment was. One of my children had an especially difficult experience with a math teacher and came home crying after an interaction that left them feeling humiliated and discouraged. We chose this school expecting that the significant cost would translate into a better educational experience and supportive learning environment. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at all. We ultimately transferred our children to another school, and the difference has been night and day. They are much happier, more confident, and doing significantly better academically. I hope Nolan takes concerns like these seriously and works to create a more respectful and supportive environment for students. Especially for parents who are hard workers and want a better ENVIRONMENT from students AND teachers horrible.. 0 star if I could give one.

I have officially pulled my son from Uplift Summit International Preparatory indefinitely due to systemic, intentional neglect by the staff. Parents need to be aware of what is happening behind closed doors at this campus. 1. Staff Are Starving Students and Restricting Packed Lunches My son has a severe, diagnosed food aversion that we have worked through therapy to manage. Because of his extreme pickiness, I explicitly communicated his needs to his teacher at the beginning of the year. I packed him a specific lunch every day with foods I knew he would eat (including Lunchables, fruit, and protein shakes) to ensure he didn't starve. I also requested they place a school lunch tray in front of him daily to help him see what other kids were eating to encourage him. Instead, he came home crying and starving every single day. When the school finally allowed parents to visit for lunch, I attended twice. Both times, staff actively stopped my son from eating his packed lunch, telling him it was "snack food" and refusing to let him eat it. Furthermore, his school account proves they completely ignored my request to provide a tray--they haven't put one in front of him since August 12th (the second day of school). They are quite literally dictating what children can eat at the expense of starving them. 2. Total Disregard for Medical and Allergy Protocols My son suffers from severe seasonal allergies that worsen from Fall to Spring. The school playground is purely dirt that gets kicked up all day. I provided boxes of KN95 masks and explicitly instructed his teacher that he must wear one during recess for his health. The staff completely ignored this medical necessity. They took zero responsibility, leaving my 5-year-old child entirely on his own to remember his mask. The adults at this school have shown an unacceptable lack of accountability for basic child welfare, safety, and medical accommodations. If you expect a school to keep your child safe, fed, and healthy, do not send them here.
