I have been coming to Felipe's since I was a small child. One of my children is about to have a child, soooo ‍ That's a long time. The food speaks for itself, but I will still say the food is PHENOMENAL! Staff is always on point and they are great at their jobs. They know the menu, they get to know their customers and they keep the place clean. You get the same quality time and time again. It's not a hit or miss kind of place. You will always be happy and full when you leave. It's a place you can take someone on a first date and get to know one another, take your spouse for a nice bite to eat to just not have to cook and get super dressed up, take the kids too or you can celebrate a birthday, anniversary or anything in your life that matters.. the prices are right on time. They decorate for every season and every holiday. If you are a local or a repeat customer, chances are.. within a few visits they will know something about you and what you are going to order. Felipe's is just a staple in Citrus Heights and a Must Have, over and over again.

Was not greeted as we walked in, let the two people at the front know that we were with the party already seated, they just nodded and let us go back to our table. A young kid came and took our drink orders, he was fairly nice, and brought everything out quickly. A different person took our food orders and was on our table the rest of the night, he appeared to be a manager. He was not so pleasant. He was just very cold, we had to wave him down for refills and our check, and we appeared to be his only table as he spent the rest of his time talking to other staff at the kitchen. The food was fine, the plates were all very hot, but the food was just lukewarm. The food overall was just not very flavorful, and the meat was all very dry and tough. The restaurant itself was beautiful, and was very clean and well kept. This could've just been our experience tonight, but for these reasons, we will probably just stick to our favorites.

Family lunch at Felipe's is a good idea. One of the best chimichangas I've had in a while with a delicious cheese pull! Complementary chips and salsa, which seems to be more and more rare these days. I was a little disappointed that the chicken chimichanga was a dollar extra compared to the beef. Usually it's the other way around. Everyone enjoyed their food but two more things were also disappointing. We had 5 people in our party and we were placed in a tiny booth with a chair on the end. Not sure why they don't have bigger tables. Lastly, wait if you have to use the restroom. It had the most outrageous smell, cinnamon and poop. Yucky is an understatement.

We didn't come there for that and i think it'll be a long time before I go back. I love the food, but allowing these peddlers to annoy and abuse me customers is not okay. Let's just say it make sense why the lot is full. The service was beyond reproach. Our server was attentive and detail oriented and never felt us feeling ignored. I couldn't see the bottom of the complimentary chips and salsa and the food came out hot and delicious. The three meat molcajete with traditional salsa verde (a family recipe according to the menu), pinto beans, radish, freshly roasted jalapeño, green onions, and sautéed cactus. Topped with Monterey Jack, Cotija, and Panela cheese was the star of the show. You assemble everything in a nice flour tortilla and you are in for a delectable and savory treat. The portion sizes are generous and the price point given the amount of food is also very attractive. We shared the molcajete and had plenty leftover for lunch the next day. I always wondered why the parking lot was so full but I longer have to wonder and I'll be contributing to the busy traffic in the parking lot because I'll be back for another round of molcajete.

We usually grab crunchy tacos or breakfast burritos, and it has turned into one of those places we keep going back to because it is just consistently fantastic. A lot of people remember when this was Gilberto's, and that owner was great too, but the new owner has really made this place special. You can tell she and her family care about what they are serving. Last week I stopped in for breakfast burritos and the chorizo was ridiculously good. Not just good. The kind of good where you immediately start thinking about when you can come back again. Her daughter was working that evening and looks so much like her mom it almost felt like copy and paste. She was on the grill while mom was eating, and then the owner got up and made me a sample birria taco. That was a dangerous move, because now I have one more thing on the menu I am going to keep ordering. The meat they make is seriously out of this world. Super flavorful, not greasy, not fatty, just really, really good. One of the things I like most is that this feels like a true family place. You might even see the owner's mom there, who is 80 years old and still helping keep the place clean. That says a lot right there. We come here all the time and will keep coming back. Support local businesses, say hello, and give this place a try. Totally worth it. And if you think prices are high, well... you can probably send that complaint to Sacramento.

By far the absolute worst mexican food I've had in awhile…read more I'll start with place was kinda funky, it's like an enclosed outdoor area when you walk in. There were tons of flies which I should have taken as a sign but still thought I'd give it a try. I ordered and then waited and waited and waited, 20 minutes goes by and people (not person) people who came in after me and ordered at the counter were getting their food which I didn't quite get. 30 minutes goes by and they finally give me my horchata which had some sort of flying bug floating on the top, like cmon how are you not gonna see that when making it or handing it to me? It was clear as day. 35 minutes later I get the 10 tacos and chicken torta I ordered. Seriously 35 minutes for tacos, and a torta! Between the wait, the flies, the obnoxious Jesus freaks and the putrid stinky door dash guy in there I quickly escaped. When I got home is when I knew I really F-ed up Honestly the chicken torta, we could not for the life of us figure out if it was really chicken. Way too salty which is never a good sign and tasted really old. Couldn't finish it. The tacos I went with were Al pastor, carnitas, and the one with bacon and potato. I'll start with the Al pastor and bacon potato one seriously had the consistency of wet dog food. I don't know what I was eating but it was mush and kinda gritty. You know there's a problem when the corn tortillas are orange from grease and fall apart too. Couldn't finish them. The carnitas I could at-least tell was meat but man talk about dry, tasted old and more like beef jerky. Cilantro was wilted looking and didn't look fresh at all. I will never be back not even if this was the last Mexican food place on earth would I ever come back. Save yourself the unpleasantry's and go somewhere else, anywhere else honestly.

Giving 2 stars considering I became sick after eating here…read more I came here to celebrate a birthday party. It does not seem this place gets lots of traction since we came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty. The table ordered chips & queso and a taco sampler. Both were good, no complaints. I ordered the arroz con pollo with the rice on the side. When the plate was placed in front of me, I could smell a stench. The color of my food was brown. I started to compare this plate to El Tapatio as this is the same thing I order from them except theirs is red. I stopped myself because everyone cooks differently. The party started at 12:30pm and so I came with an empty stomach. By the time I got home at 2pm, I began feeling ill. I became very sick with nausea, etc. I was sick the remaining weekend and into Monday. The location is in a pretty nice area. Inside is really clean and pretty.
