My son started pre-pandemic and continued through virtual and then back on campus- so we've seen how MCS has dealt with change and the obstacles covid-19 threw at them and wow they were amazing. They really stepped up to the challenge every step of the way. They exceeded all expectations and then some. They always helped me get to the point where I was comfortable with things and went above and beyond in every stage of the pandemic. They were amazing pre-covid but they really shined during covid. Their virtual learning was so good and the teachers (Mr. Urbach) were able to adapt so well! We went back on campus in September - and they made us feel as safe as they could - following social distancing protocols, constantly cleaning, etc- while providing such a great education and support system for my child and myself! It has been a struggle this year for everyone but the love and support and the dedication that the staff and the teachers have provided for me and my family has been amazing and I don't think can ever properly express how thankful I am for them. Also- logistically as a preschool their schedule is amazing and the kids really get to learn about themselves and Math and literature and the Bible. It's a good balance of play and fun and learning and they get to do so much art! They have a lot of activities to help develop their fine and gross motor skills. Not only does MCS provide a good education but they also provide a good foundation in helping these young children be confident and caring young individuals. They definitely give them all the tools both academically and socially for them to succeed- which seems like it'll be a great foundation for them as they move forward in life.

I really wanted to give this school 5 stars, but i was so disappointed in our experience this year…read more i think if your child attends the morning or all day session, you would have a great experience. and I would recommend this preschool to anyone looking for that time slot. but for us, my child was in the afternoon session. it was great in the beginning of the year. i saw a lot of progress and the teachers are wonderful. you can tell that the kids are cared for. but after the start of the new year, they took out some of the older kids from the all day class they kept piling in more and more new younger kids in the afternoon class. this class was supposed to be a 4 yr old class to prep for kindergarten. now over half the class are 2 and 3 year olds. the poor teacher is stuck with bored 4 yr olds and younger kids that can't keep up. no one is really learning anything new. the director was showing around a new aide and i overheard her refer to the class as the "buffet class". not sure if that's something to be proud of! if the school is going to advertise a 4 yr old program, they should stick with it throughout the whole year. I'm just am really disappointed. i was hoping to send my younger one here, but now i think I'll have to look elsewhere.

As a working parent with 3 young kids, I need a child care place where I trust. I also need convenience where they can pickup kids from school to afterschool care so parents don't need to take time off during midday. I also need flexibility where they can drop off and pickup kids to other extracurricular activities within the plaza such as Kumon, Cal color, Ping Pong, and Music/Piano. Sunshine meets all my expectations. Sunshine really distinguishes itself with their flexibility! When my sons had afterschool activities at Warm Springs or Leitch Elementary such as basketball practice and games, math contest, or chess class; Mr Jeffrey the transportation manager did not hesitate and made extra trip to pick them up. In addition, when my son needed to attend other extra curriculum class 5 mins drive away from Sunshine, Sunshine didn't hesitate to help. I had never thought an affordable afterschool care place can accommodate these additional service!!! Sunshine is very reliable and really makes things easier for working parents. Not everything was perfect. When my kids started preschool at Sunshine, all of them had a rocky start. All felt sick during first week. It was heartbreaking for me. In hindsight, all toddlers go through this journey of catching germs and building up their immunity when interacting with other children. After few months, they were fine. Talking to other parents, this is a challenge for all young kids going to any preschool the first time. No goodbyes. Just excuses. This was supposed to be his last summer before middle school -- a milestone he looked forward to with so much excitement. He was especially looking forward to seeing some of his friends who come to the daycare only in the summer but don't go to his school. Now, all he's left with is heartbreak and confusion. He wonders why the children who hurt him remain welcomed with open arms, while he was the one punished for simply standing up for himself. That message -- that speaking out leads to being cast aside -- is crushing, and no child should ever feel that way. What hurts even more is knowing that one of the children who called him a slur is the daughter of a teacher who works there. It makes me question what kind of environment truly exists within these walls. My son deserved so much better. Yes, the incident with the staff member's daughter happened over text--but she is the daughter of a teacher who still works at your daycare. That matters. Children often pick up language and attitudes from their home environment. The fact that this child felt comfortable using a racial slur says a lot about what may be normalized around her--and that should raise serious concerns about the values being modeled by your staff. You referred to it as a "disagreement" that took place "outside of school," but calling someone a racial slur is not a disagreement. It's racism. And this wasn't an isolated case. My son was called racial slurs by at least five different children during his time at your daycare. Each time, the response was minimal--typically just a forced apology, and once, a classroom reassignment. No real consequences. No restorative practices. No signs that the deeper issue was taken seriously. The most alarming part is that the last time my son was called a slur, we weren't even notified. We only found out because I went through his tablet where he was talking about it with a friend. When my husband emailed you directly asking how our son would be protected going forward--because he still wanted to attend summer camp and be with his friends--you never responsed. Then suddenly we were told he couldn't attend, even though he'd attended for nearly a decade and we'd never once had issues with timing or enrollment in past years. To be honest, I feel it's a bit unfair for a place to receive a low rating because children spend a lot of time playing outside, make crafts using scissors, or because a child cried when adjusting to school. These, in my opinion, are natural parts of childhood and development. Personally, I would only leave a negative review if I had a genuinely bad experience, such as staff not doing their job, children being unsafe, not being cared for properly, or not being treated with love and respect. But that has not been my experience here at all. As parents, we all have different expectations and values when it comes to raising our children, and we naturally want environments that align with them. For me, this place has done a beautiful job with my son. He is in an environment full of play, learning, love, and strong values. I don't want my child to be in a competitive or stressful setting at such a young age. In fact, I've been pleasantly surprised by skills he developed here that I hadn't explored much at home, like using scissors confidently. Once they are in grade school, they can enroll in the Foothill Adventist Elementary next door on the same campus. I pulled my 3 year old fr his home based daycare and transitioned him here so I can claim childcare on my taxes, give him more structure, socialization with his peers and I can see the difference. Instead of him glued stuck on the babysitter's TV or iPad, he has outdoor play, arts and crafts, gradual learning words and numbers. Most importantly, they learn manners and are geared towards what's appropriate and not. In the summertime, they are laxed and allow the children to enjoy the outdoor more. They also have fun activities planned with game day, waterworks's, rent jump houses, etc. Childcare hrs 7:30-6pm, max hrs/day a child can be there is 9.5 hrs. They provide breakfast, snacks and lunch which is all vegetarian. They prep their nutritious food onsite. Only downfall is they use disposables plates, etc which is not environmentally friendly. Office staff is friendly and always greeting with nice salutations. My son got scared of his teacher for a while, but that was because he was misbehaving. Other than that, it's a pretty nurturing environment. Compared to other childcare center, it's more affordable and food is provided. They also have some financial aid for those who qualify.
