The first visit you get a tour along with learning the rules and regulations. After that, you're on your own. You walk in (either with or without an appointment), pay at the pay station - and you set the amount you want to pay - then take a seat in one of the recliners. Okay, this part is a bit odd; you are in a massive dimly lit room with calming new age music playing. After you take a seat, the acupuncturist on duty that day comes over, quizzes you about your issues, then proceeds to place needed in your arms, hands, legs, feet, ears, and/or head. It does not hurt - there is mostly just a pressure, if you feel anything at all. This community environment, instead of having individual cubicles or offices, is what enables them to keep the prices so low. So, while you may hear snoring, coughing, whispering, etc. you are paying a lot less then you would at many offices.

I have been going to see Becky at Living Harmony for a few years now and she is absolutely amazing!…read more To preface, I was an acupuncture skeptic before coming to Living Harmony (and on top of that terrified of needles). I was unsure about the lack of evidence to support acupuncture treatments (though upon researching further, there is some encouraging info out there, and the lack of hard science is mostly due to the inability to have a "control" group in an acupuncture study). I had seen several doctors over 2 years for stomach problems which they defined as "IBS" (the catch all term for stomach symptoms without a clear cause) and told me they were unable to treat it. After a while the problem became unmanageable and I was convinced to try acupuncture. The treatment area itself if very clean and tranquil. The treatments begin with a consultation where you discuss what needs to be focused on for that session, then you lie on the table face down. If you've never had acupuncture before it's important to note that most needle points you don't feel at all, some pinch just a bit, and a few do hurt. What helped me most was that she puts pressure with her finger in the spot where the needle will go, so you have warning ahead of time and it's never a shock. If there are spots that freak you out (it was a while before I could deal with needles in my face), just tell her and she will skip them. The aromatherapy and meditative music helped me to be calm as well. You lay on the table with the needles still in for a period of time, then you do the same on the front. Becky was so great about answering my questions and explaining the process. She was very sensitive to my needle fears and talked to me the whole time to make sure I was comfortable. After 3 sessions I noticed dramatic reduction of symptoms. Without going into too much detail, the swelling / pain I had been experiencing went away, and I was no longer interrupting my workday with multiple emergency bathroom trips. This lasted for a month at which point I noticed symptoms returning, went back to Becky and was fine for another few months. Each time, the symptoms stayed away longer. Now I go back for treatments for stress/general wellness, but have no residual stomach complaints. I am so thankful that I tried something a little out of my comfort zone. Becky is not only extremely competent and professional, she has a calmness and kindness that makes her a true healer. I highly recommend Living Harmony, it changed my life.
