I'm not sure how to put into words the amount of love and gratitude I have for Kaitlin, Chelsea,…read moreand ATP. Being a client here has been the biggest eye-opening and educational experience of my life, so I'll try to put it into words. I first met Kaitlin Coughlin, DPT at a different physical therapy clinic, then followed her to ATP to continue on as my *highly qualified* personal trainer of sorts. Kaitlin's knowledge base and skill is completely unmatched. She is the perfect mix of empathy, smartness, silliness and motivation. She has an incredible amount of body awareness and a natural gift of helping clients tap into theirs. Her strong suits: - posture and alignment - spinal mobility - manual physical therapy - core strengthening Kaitlin has a whole-body approach and can help alleviate if not fix almost any musculoskeletal issue. She meets people where they are at and helps them progress at their own pace. Many people can feel overwhelmed by PT as yet another thing to DO. But, Kaitlin makes body mechanics and movement enjoyable, and can often make predictions of what clients will be able to do in the future if they practice what she teaches. While ATP is a direct pay clinic, the best thing is that there are no major restrictions here. Each hour is dedicated fully to you. Comparing my experience to the prior PT clinic, there are no lengthy forms for insurance or employers pushing two/three clients at once. Kaitlin is also not bogged down with administrative work, so she has time to fully tend to you. Each session allows a re-evaluation of sorts so that hour can be tailored to whatever is most concerning that day. You can spend an hour doing manual one day, then cupping therapy the next. A wide range of equipment is used to help with training including that which is found in a Pilates studio. Personally what helped me the most was spinal alignment (starting with manual, and progressing to self-manipulation) and breathing exercises. ATP is such a non-judgmental and inspiring place that I have never once left a session without feeling like all is right in the world. This is exactly the environment you need to focus on your body and start making changes. Chelsea recently joined the ATP team as a Pilates instructor and essentially a body movement coach. She is a professional dancer so she takes her coaching seriously. She is among the most motivating people I know and she will PUSH YOU! Both Kaitlin and Chelsea's dance background make them a perfect duo to teach body mechanics and improve function. Chelsea's strong suits: -Pilates -motivation -power filled movements, like in professional dancing In my opinion, all physical therapy and training should be done the way Kaitlin and Chelsea are doing it at ATP. They are for everyone, whether you are just delving into the physical therapy world or are a seasoned athlete. They will help if you just need to learn how to safely handle weights and make your way around a gym. They have transformed my life and I have absolutely no doubt that they'll do the same for you.

With scoliosis, seven compressed vertebrae and a compromised SI joint, it has been challenging to exercise and regain the strength & body I once had. Chelsea brings me closer to my goal every time we meet and has personally customized my workouts to address my injuries and weaknesses. Her gifts and talents, along with her likability, are such a blessing, and I recommend her to anyone without reservation. Meeting her can be life-changing!

I've had chronic back pain for over 15 years. The past 4 years I developed an incredible tightness…read morein the back of my hamstrings. They constantly felt tight and no matter how much stretching I did, the tightness remained. It's a feeling that hard to explain, but they were extremely fatigued all the time. Additionally, I had severe pain in my lower back and sharp pain in both hips. As an avid gym rat, it was getting to the point where the tightness and fatigue were inhibiting my workouts. My runs got shorter and shorter to the point where I didn't want to run and even walking up a hill was a chore. My lower back was so sore it inhibited my sleep at night as I was constantly flopping and turning sides because nothing was comfortable. I dreaded vacuuming because the bending down irritated my back. At the gym, no matter how many squats I did, I could not get that good "soreness" in my glutes. The only thing that hurt was my back. No matter how many situps and ab exercises I did, my abs were never sore. Over the past 15 years I've done EVERYTHING. I've lived in 4 different states and must have seen at least 12 different chiropractors in which they all did the same thing - put you down on a bed, give you electric stim, and a manual adjustment. I've done kinesio tape, cupping,Graston, Active Release, Thai Massage, PRP injections into my hips and NOTHING worked. After I had any of this done I felt the same as before I went in - no different. I knew certain muscles were not engaging while others were over compensating. The final straw was about 6 weeks ago when I did two You Tube Videos - 30 minutes each, one for abs, one for squats. The instructor had a hard time making it through, yet I felt nothing - except I had a very sore back. I was tempted to call a chiropractor but knew I had to do something different. I started researching posture and came across the Egoscue Method. I called and talked to Christi, and told her the issues I was having. I went in for the initial consultation where she did a digital map of my posture and showed me on the computer where my body was over and under balanced and why I was having the issues I did. My body was almost locked up. My first session with her was such an eye opener I signed up right there on the spot. She didn't need to convince me. Basically my femurs were over rotating. I'd always thought I had high arches but she explained I wasn't balancing on the whole weight of my foot properly. In your body, everything needs to be aligned properly to work. So in Egoscue, Peter Egoscue, the found, explains there are 4 anchor points on your body - your shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. If any of these are out of alignment that's where the problems start. I was skeptical that such simple exercises could give me results, but after doing the exercises on my own for 4 days, the pain was GONE! For four years I had that tightness in my hamstrings and when I went for a run, it was no longer there. For me, this has been such an AMAZING process. I know I still have sessions to do but in just 4 sessions I feel 80% better. ( I'm very diligent in doing my prescribed exercises EVERY single day). The exercises are simple but they basically teach the body on how to realign itself so it can function. Now I look at people all the time walking down the street, hunched over and think to myself - they need Egoscue! As FYI, I'm writing this review on my own accord, haven't been told to or paid by anyone. This has changed my life, and I've recommended it to many friends. Give it a chance, because it could change yours too.

I've been going to physical therapy here for 4 months. My therapist, Lauren, is great. She listens…read moreto me and works to help me get to my goals. She definitely knows her stuff. As a terrible runner who got a stress fracture in her ankle and suffers from chronic inflammation, recovery has been a process but I feel like OPPT is doing all they can to help me recover and to be a better runner. The office is located on the second floor of a 3 story building on the corner of Dakota and Cleveland in South Tampa. It sits directly behind the MacDonald's on Kennedy Blvd. The front office staff is super sweet and on their game. They give reminder calls if you're coming in 1x per week (more often and you don't get a call but you get a print out of your schedule) and check patients in and out. There are usually several clients seeing therapists at a time and almost always sports on TV. The office is big and there is a large open space with a treadmill, bikes, an elliptical, weights, and therapy tables. Everything is clean and sanitary. They are constantly wiping down tables, washing towels, and changing pillow linens. Your first visit is a consultation which I think always takes place in one of the private rooms. Everybody is very professional and friendly. After the first visit the pain/fun begins. Each session usually starts with a 5-10 minute warm-up (which will vary based on the body part you've injured) after that the sessions change- it might be weights, resistance band exercises, balance work, etc. etc. It changes every visit. I had friends tell me they don't go to physical therapy bc they can do all the exercises at home. Well, I certainly don't think that is the case. I don't think I would be as healed as I am today or have as much knowledge about my body if I wasn't in PT at OPPT. OPPT has flexible hours for therapy with all therapists available early morning or evenings on rotating days for those who work. I'm really happy that my injury brought me to OPPT (which was recommended by my podiatrist). I will also be happy when it's time to leave though. :)

I was told my insurance had been verified and that the visit would not be more than $150. However, when I arrived -- before I had even sat down -- staff immediately began telling me I would likely need X-rays and additional services, while also trying to sign me up for a "discount program" that costs $50 just to join. After I declined the program, I was then told the visit would no longer just be $150 and that there would be an additional $85 charge. This felt very misleading and sales-driven. Unfortunately, it seems like the focus here is more on upselling than on simply providing the service the patient requested. On top of that, the front office staff and another employee who joined the conversation were quite rude, which made the experience even more disappointing. I would recommend confirming pricing very carefully before coming in.
