Along the years, I've seen orthopedic doctors where I did MRIs and other exams, but I never got any relief from them. When chatting about it with different coaches (tennis instructor, gym coach, crossfit coach, etc) and colleagues, almost 100% of the times I would hear that this was probably plantar fasciitis, so I used to do all the kinds of exercises related to this, but never got it resolved. In the past 2 months, this pain has been more recurrent and I finally decided to give it a shot with Dr. Ken Rogers. I am glad I did!! Dr. Ken was the only professional that really tried hard to understand where the pain was coming from. He asked thousands of questions that I felt were never asked before by other professionals, such as when it hurts, how it hurts, how do I usually squat, jump, exercise, etc. Combined that with his physical examination, he hit the nail in the head! He diagnosed that the pain is coming from the fact that my foot naturally rotates in a certain way when exercising, putting too much effort in one set of muscles of my calf, which is connected to my foot plant / arch causing the pain. As soon as I started doing certain exercises for my calf I felt a 500% improvement in the pain while exercising! Now that the culprit is identified, it seems obvious that this was the cause, but for sure I feel this way because Dr. Ken was able to explain and connect all the dots in a very simple way for me, which I will always be grateful! If you are having any body pain and is hopeless in finding how to fix it, go schedule a visit with Dr Ken, you won't regret it, totally worth the investment!

Anyhow, I had a good three months of relief before the pain returned. Currently waiting on someone at ARO to return my calls for followup treatment if they offer such a thing. Jury's out but I sure wish I could get a call back from someone over there to complete this process as discribed.

One was with a very well known university which we will not name and came with experience. I had the appropriate mri and other preparations and after weeks of waiting finally got in for a review. I was shocked when I went over the surgery. The first question is asked is what kind of implant are you going to use. The answer was a Titanium one. Gee, I know more about the oil being put in my car. It quickly became apparent to me that this University was not the place. I happened to visit Tampa and was talking to friends there and someone recommended 'stem therapy'. I am not into quick fixes or magic solution, but once I looked into found it to be a $5K procedure. This in comparison to 10x and many weeks of recovery. I decided to take a chance and talked to 3 different centers. I like Aro Motion since Dr Dean took his time and explained why and why nots the process could work for me. Tampa is far from where I live and I only had a few days there, so did not want something with long times. I rolled the dice and did the procedure. It was quick and painless. I left a few days later and never saw the location again. I wanted to wait 9ish months to write a review to understand the results. After 9 months, the procedure has worked for me. I did see Jennifer's 1 star review and I guess she had an opposite experience. I will try and update my review in another 10-12 months, but so far so good. Thank you Dr Dean.

My lingering back and neck pain from an automobile accident plus a more recent series of nasty…read moremuscle spasms left me in serious need of some medical help. Thankfully some friends referred me to see Dr. Thomas Mang, owner / operator of the Chiropractic & Acupuncture clinic along Waters Avenue, just half a block east from the intersection of Armenia Avenue. I scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Mang, and went through the usual medical forms and discussions about my injuries. He checked my flexibility and range of motion, and then prescribed a course of treatments to focus on my problem areas. My typical visit starts with a 15-minute session in "The Chair", which is an electric, pneumatic leather massage chair that tips you back to a zero-gravity position. You slide your arms and legs into sleeves, and then the chair begins squeezing and thumping up and down your back, from your neck down to your feet, and back up again. Next is the water-pressure lounger / massager for another 15-miinute session. In this case you lie back on a lounger while jets of water sweep back and forth over your body. Both of these sessions are incredibly soothing. After that you might receive a traditional massage from one of his highly-skilled technicians, or some electro-stimulation therapy whereby little patches are connected to various spots on your neck and back. Pulses of electricity tighten, then loosen your muscles while you lie there. Next for me is some type of acupuncture therapy which was a very new experience. Dr. Mang used traditional Chinese acupuncture to stimulate various lymph nodes and relieve some tension. Even though this type of therapy was something new, the results were amazing and long-lasting. As my treatments progressed he moved me from the usual acupuncture needles to a cold laser therapy with even better results. Finally, my favorite part of the session were the chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Mang was able to twist and turn my torso till I literally pop-pop-popped like a roll of bubble wrap. His final therapeutic adjustment was on my neck. I would lie down on his table while he cradled my head in his hands. He turns my head to the side, does a little tap-tap along my neck, and then pop-pop-crack. Truly an amazing feeling from a very talented doctor. Dr. Mang has several different offices located in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, but this office on Waters Avenue has Sunday office hours by appointment. The net result of these visits is that my pain has gone away, I'm no longer popping Aleve, and I have much more flexibility in my neck and back. That's a major win-win-win for me!

For years I've had frozen shoulders on both sides but it was no longer painful and I didn't want…read moreany treatment, but while exercising to strengthen upper body muscles for Parkinson's, I did something to my right shoulder causing extreme pain on a Thursday. Friday it was so bad I tried to get into my Orthopedic specialists office for some help, but couldn't get in until the following Thursday. I called my pain doctor, and couldn't get in until Monday, and made an appointment. Saturday the pain was so severe I wanted to commit suicide. I went to as walk-in clinic to see what they could do. They did an X-ray that didn't show any break and figured it was just a sprain. I am also diabetic and steroid shots general play havoc with that condition and I try to avoid them if at all possible, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do and begged for a steroid shot to help with the pain. The doctor told me she couldn't put it directly in the shoulder, just the arm and wasn't sure it would help that much but I was willing to try anything and went for the shot that did nothing but throw my Blood sugars way off. On Monday I went to see my pain doctor. Didn't tell her about getting a steroid shot on Saturday, just described the pain and asked if she could inject a steroid shot in my shoulder. She could, and did, but it did nothing for the pain so Tuesday, I searched for an orthopedist who could see me promptly that day and found Dr. Lewis's office and especially surprised that he specialized in shoulders. I was lucky, they could see me that afternoon. I went in and sat with his nurse first to discuss what was going on, including the steroid shot I had on Saturday and Monday and she took notes. I told her I thought the steroid shots hadn't worked because they werre put in the wrong place. I then saw Dr. Lewis who personally took additional X-Rays, He said the shoulder looked fine and I didn't need to look at any replacement surgery anytime soon. Without telling him I had the earlier steroid shots, I told him I usually avoid steroid shots, but I was in such severe pain could he give me a shot in the shoulder and he said, "certainly, I'll go out and prepare one." He and his nurse left the room and were gone no more than 15 seconds when he walked back in and asked, "Did you just have a stteroid shot?" I explained what I had done and he said he couldn't give me another one for another 8 to 10 weeks and that the shot do work, but sometime take awhile to fully work. We scheduled a followup in 8 weeks. What that showed me was great communication between doctor and nurse that she knew to tell him quickly about my previous shots. The pain did subside for awhile, but has returned. On my 8 week appointment he recommended rehab and sent the referral over to the clinic I was already doing Parkinson's therapy. Five months later, the pain is still there and I've made an appointment to return and see if he wants to make a referral for any MRI to detect for a tear that wouldn't show up on an X-ray, and if so, should I do surgery to fix it. Don't know yet, but I can say I really think Dr. Lewis and his office staff are really great and very professional. I'd recommend them to anyone with a shoulder problem with the greatest confidence.
