My husband and I purchased both the boarded puppy camp & the specialized boarded service dog…read moretraining for a total of just under $8k. Before starting puppy camp, we explained behaviors our puppy was having trouble with at home. They assured us they would be able to help with everything. After going through the 2 week boarded puppy camp, none of the behavioral issues showed any improvement. Our puppy also did not display competency with the basic obedience commands he was supposed to learn. I figured he's still a puppy & the additional service dog training will get him all worked out. Unfortunately the service dog training was a complete waste. After all that training, our dog would only perform basic obedience tasks with a correction leash over his nose. If the leash was not on, all bets were off. As for the service tasks, they're non-existent. This facility prides themselves on not using treats to train. However, when they demonstrated the service task he "learned" on pick up day, they brought out peanut butter. I was very confused. While holding the peanut butter in the air, they got our dog to jump up & put his paws on them. His service task IS to jump up & put his paws on my husband when he's having a mental health episode. The problem is, my husband won't have peanut butter on hand when his dog needs to alert. Our dog only learned to jump on people carrying food. Nothing more. After I took some time to think about the situation, I sent an email explaining our disappointments, & that we have to put our dog through another program. (We did find a great trainer that was able to train our dog correctly-but it cost another $6,000.00). They responded to my email without taking responsibility for anything and refused to issue a refund. We would have been happy with even a partial refund, because they did board our puppy for weeks, even though he didn't get the training he was supposed to. How they explained their training methods, the training we were supposed to receive, & our responsibilities as the owners in their response email, was completely different than what we were told in person. In a nutshell were told we would be getting a dog that was finished in basic obedience & his service task training. They ended up saying we misunderstood, & that their program is a 'hybrid' model where they start the training, but we complete it ourselves at home. No where on their website are the services we purchased described that way, nor does it say anything about a hybrid model in the contract we signed. We were very clear we were looking for a program that would finish basic obedience & service task training. They confidently told us they would do that, & at home we would only need to reinforce what the dog had already learned. I don't think anyone would pay $8,000.00 to have a dog started only, & need to be self trained to finish. Especially not a service dog. After this, we did training classes at Petco to keep the puppy learning & socialized until his start date with the new trainer. Petco initially let us join their intermediate class, thinking our puppy would be ok since he'd been through so much boarded training with US Dog Training Camp. We were demoted to level 1 basic puppy training on our first day of class. That's tells you everything you need to know. We actually had an employee put their dog through a boarded training program with these guys at the same time. Neither of us knew the other had our dogs at this place until we saw the dogs together on their social media page. He was just as disappointed with his results & was sick he spent $5k. He feels his dogs behavior is actually worse after coming home.

After the very first visit, I was astonished and how well my 6-month-old Golden Retriever responded. I went from being frustrated and, honestly, disappointed in myself, to one of hope and excitement for our future. It is some of the best money I've spent. It was an investment that has give me a return of more than I could have ever dreamed of. I know that I have Doug's support throughout Zahra's lifetime and that, to me, is priceless. In my opinion, you will find none better than Doug with Bark Busters. Zahra and I are forever grateful we found him through the recommendation of my nephew, who used Doug for help with his Giant Schnauzer. You will not be disappointed, I can promise you that!

WORTH EVERY PENNY AND ASTONISHINGLY FAST!…read more Doug Rountree with Bark Busters of Louisville is fantastic! In the first hour, he completely changed the way we interact with our dog. Before we began the training, our puppy was lovable but demanding and thought she was in charge of our whole family. Practically 90% of her behavior problems (like mouthing/biting, barking, jumping on people, pulling) are virtually gone in less than a day! The rest are already much improved and I'm sure those will continue to get better as we reinforce our expectations with her. Our home is a much more peaceful, enjoyable place and our pup definitely seems happier and less stressed now that we have set clear, consistent rules in a language that she can understand. I love that it's done without treats or physical correction but instead uses how dogs naturally communicate to change behavior. Thank you Doug!

‼Warning to fur parents in Mt. Washington‼…read more I am so happy to report that Pepper has been found. I can't thank Tara Bassett and her team, Stephanie Price and Annamaria Love enough. Please read this entire lengthy post and share this story! Pepper and her 2 siblings were left in the care of The Dog Spot LLC in Mt. Washington. I believe they were in her care for 4 days when Pepper went missing at 4pm on August 9th. I spoke with Carol at 530, I was frantic. She immediately became defensive. She said she only left the dogs unattended in the back yard for 3 minutes while she started dinner. When she returned Pepper was gone and she assumed she jumped the fence because of nearby gunfire. She questioned what else i wanted her to do. I asked her to notify authorities, post on social media and hang flyers. I asked her to put some food and water outside the fence in case Pepper returned. This is when she said the dog wouldn't come back there. I was a bit puzzled why she didn't think Pepper would return but i was so frazzled i brushed it off. I hung up with her to start posting on social media. Tara's group and my son searched for hours until dark. When I arrived at The Dog Spot LLC Saturday morning there were 3 dogs playing in the backyard but no one around. I walked around the outside of the house looking, rang all doorbells,no answer. I called the number and Kayleigh, an employee, answered. She allowed me to check on the other two dogs. Kayleigh said Carol ran to the store. Kayleigh and another employee were looking around the property all morning. Kayleigh and i began searching the 9 acre property, following numerous trails and animal tracks. We circled about an acre or so and came up empty handed. We began discussing needing a drone or a professional tracker since we were dealing with over 150 acres of farms and woods surrounding the property. This is the first time i saw Carol! And we had to ask for her to come out to the yard! I decided to go into the backyard and look for any holes in the fence. Thinking maybe i could get an idea of which way Pepper went since noone actually saw her jump the fence. I found Pepper stuck in a layer of briar bushes and thorns. Rescuers began cutting down the bushes. Pepper was very scared, it took a couple hours, 4 cans of vienna sausages, and her sister to coax her out. I did notice that every time we almost got her out she would look for Carol and hide when she saw her. She wasn't hurt, just a few thorns. I'm pretty sure the rescuers suffered more cuts and bruises. Another special thank you to all of them. I truly believe Pepper was stuck in those thorns and bushes the entire time. I am beyond upset that the perimeter wasn't searched better and with more people. But there is so much that upsets me about this situation. 1. The Dog Spot LLC website says they will treat them as their own. So if Carols dog were missing she would send out 2 young women to search and hope for the best? Not to mention they didn't think to look in the dense briar bushes in the backyard! 2. I found a copy of their contract on their website. See photo. It actually says they are not responsible if your dog escapes. Now im sure theres a law somewhere that says the dogs have to be supervised but come on they aren't even going to take responsibility i ask again is this treating the dog like your own? 3. If you remember, when i arrived there were dogs in the yard with noone within hearing distance. This infuriated me! They just lost Pepper and they are still leaving dogs unattended?? 4. Authorities, search teams, posters, social media....This wasn't done by The Dog Spot LLC. They did post to their business Facebook page around 6pm after me requesting. Thanks again to Tara and her team for getting flyers, alerting authorities and spreading the word. 5. When i walked through the kennel i saw at least 20 dogs. The 4 or so hours i was there i only saw 1 employee and Carol. 2 people for 20 mostly big dogs, seems like they would have a few more people on hand. 6. I have yet to even hear a remote apology. I will never recommend or allow anyone i know to use the dog llc. I hope that they set up better protocols for the safety and searching efforts for the dogs they care for.
