My husband and I were extremely pleased with Linda's Beginner Obedience classes. We enrolled our…read morerescue into the 7 week program and I truly think it has changed our bond with him. Linda has a lot of insight and years of experience with training and the level of confidence she has with these dogs is remarkable. Our rescue knew very little commands, was horrible on a leash, and would get so excited around dogs he would bark like crazy. After speaking with Linda and finishing the course, I can walk him by myself safely and he is no longer chasing after every animal and barking. She also takes time to speak with you each class if needed and allows you to make up a class if you already have a prior commitment during that time of day. My caution to people who decide to sign up is the effectiveness of the classes are entirely dependent on the owner. Linda will teach you everything you need to know each week as we progress but it is very evident the owners that do not take the time to train their dog at home. They end up not continuing because it requires the owner to enforce what they've learned and continue it at home. It does not happen overnight but I guarantee if you continue to work with them you will have the same success we have had with our dog!

I am not sure if Mary or Ruth are no longer involved, and if so, that may explain it. We picked up our dog and she was clearly very ill. She was limp and lifeless in the car. We went straight to the vet. She had a 104.5 fever and ended up spending the week at the vet. I called to ask how they could not have noticed she was so ill. I got a note of apology, which I appreciated, but they really missed this one. We have since moved to another kennel.

I was never totally happy there anyways so I did some research and found the Pet School & Hotel. I swear I don't trust anyone else to groom my special needs dog. The groomer always does exactly what I ask and Charlie comes home with a cute seasonal bandanna. The small detail really means a lot to me. The prices are also incredibly affordable... I would recommend this business to anyone in Louisville. I am about to move to a different area of town and I will gladly still make the drive to this place.

After the very first visit, I was astonished and how well my 6-month-old Golden Retriever responded. It was an investment that has give me a return of more than I could have ever dreamed of. I know that I have Doug's support throughout Zahra's lifetime and that, to me, is priceless. WORTH EVERY PENNY AND ASTONISHINGLY FAST!…read more Doug Rountree with Bark Busters of Louisville is fantastic! In the first hour, he completely changed the way we interact with our dog. Before we began the training, our puppy was lovable but demanding and thought she was in charge of our whole family. Practically 90% of her behavior problems (like mouthing/biting, barking, jumping on people, pulling) are virtually gone in less than a day! The rest are already much improved and I'm sure those will continue to get better as we reinforce our expectations with her. Our home is a much more peaceful, enjoyable place and our pup definitely seems happier and less stressed now that we have set clear, consistent rules in a language that she can understand. I love that it's done without treats or physical correction but instead uses how dogs naturally communicate to change behavior. Thank you Doug!

Destiny Spence, was assigned to us by The Dog Wizard (louisville@thedogwizard.com). Their system worked well and met our needs. First, we were able to easily schedule all of our appointments in advance. Because Tizzy was six months old and we had a time crunch for completing her training, we opted for the private "in-home and public spaces plan. After meeting Tizzy, AND US, Destiny agreed that was what Tizzy needed. Destiny took charge and quickly showed us how to get Tizzy's attention, reward, and NOT reward her behavior. She did the same with us, too, because only one of us is almost a disciplinarian. After each class, Destiny sent us a reminder of what was covered and expected in the next class. Tizzy successfully graduated by passing all her classes. She knows how to walk correctly on a leash, place on the spot where I want her, come to me ALL OF THE TIME, even when she's outside, and that NO means stop whatever she's doing. Our house is much quieter now because she knows NO means stop barking and being hyper. An added compliment to Destiny is that she was prompt, consistently communicated with all of us, and was honest in pointing out when we were the problem, not Tizzy. Yes, we highly recommend The Dog Wizard and Destiny Spence for both dogs and their family members. ADDITIONAL COMMENT: THE ONE NEGATIVE COMMENT ON YELP IS ABOUT THE FRANKFORT LOCATION. Our dog's leash aggression issues were making our everyday life miserable. We had tried video…read moretrainer methods, worked with another trainer for months, used an e-collar, and nothing worked, actually things just got worse. After coming home from walks in tears over and over, we finally decided to take a chance and enroll her in John's two week day training program. John tailored the program to fit the needs of our dog and the goals that we had as a family. Our dog came home every day from her day training with star pupil report cards. We were so confused. Was she faking it for John? Was she not going to be good with us like she was for John? Our fears were put to rest though. Every day when we picked her up, John would quickly go over what she learned in training so that we could work on those same tasks at home. He also sent us updates throughout the day and videos of her progress. Once the two weeks of training were up, the next phase is multiple one-on-one training sessions with John and our family. I think these sessions are what set John apart from everyone else. Our dog learned all the tools she needed to succeed during her day training sessions, but it was the one-on-one sessions out in the real world that really helped put all the pieces together. We came to John with our dog wearing her e-collar even for the most basic of walks and still couldn't control her, now she doesn't wear her e-collar at all, and we are even able to pass other dogs with only her flat collar on! I feel like I am in control and that she isn't walking me. She still has her moments, but I am able to get her under control swiftly and easily. I am so thankful to John for helping my family find order and peace. With yearly maintenance training sessions, we have been able to continue our progress and be proud of our dog! John has come to our rescue so many times since the training program ended with other behavioral issues and even helped us with a really difficult situation with both of our dogs while we were in the middle of moving. John is seriously the best. He truly loves what he does and it shows!
