Stopped in one night late right before close. All the employees were super nice and friendly even at the late hour. They ended up not having the medicine we needed for our kitty. Feeders Supply - Pet Stores Near Me - New Albany, Indiana

This is the Feeders Supply location closest to our little slice of paradise. I find the staff, generally, helpful and the selection on par with other locations. However, I have had to point out that several bags of cat food on the shelf had expired. Not just one flavor of one brand but several flavors of several brands. Once I pointed out the issue, the staff was responsive and set about pulling the expired food from the shelves. We usually buy kitty kibble from Rainbow Blossom because they carry Evo and Feeders Supply doesn't. But, when there was a recall on Evo products, we had to find a replacement until that mess got all sorted out. There were several grain-free varieties available at Feeders Supply and we made do until the preferred brand was available again. If they carried Evo products, I'd likely buy them here. The store is always clean and tidy and I love the fact that Feeders Supply dedicates space to local animal shelters and adoption centers. read more

Feeders Supply is my go-to pet store. With 3 cats, a dog and more wild bird feeders than I care to admit, I go pretty frequently, but this local chain always has what I need and makes the experience a pleasure each time. The State Street location is probably the largest in New Albany and seems to be bigger than they need, with regards to sheer square footage. The aisles are very wide, so if your dog needs to avoid an on-coming Collie, you have plenty of space. The variety of products is excellent and you are very likely to find what you need by searching or by asking one of their friendly associates. Everything from your typical household pets to some items for wild animal supply (I bought a bat house!) is available. This location also houses some of the cats from the local shelter; particularly the big cats. If you're looking for a feline friend with some heft, this is a good place to go. read more

This morning at 6:00 am I had to lay to rest my new friend Jack after only 2 weeks of knowing him. I purchased him at the Feeder's Supply in Louisville. I contacted the Feeder's Supply in New Albany and explained what had happened and how Jack had stopped eating and perished. The salesperson was sincerely empathic to my loss and offered sell me a new friend at a significant discount. My new baby is bigger, healthier and gobbled 10 crickets as soon as we got home. This concerns New Albany, State Street pet wash area only. Several used towels on the floor, nothing to clean or disinfect the tubs or items they leave out for everyone's use. One out of three vacuums worked. Required mask wasn't enforced while, two out of three that were bathing their dogs did use a mask. Most neglected area of this store, not good. read more

I have had these mice almost a week now and have taken good care of them. 1 out of the 2 is now dead. The other one has puffy eyes, greasy fur, and black fluid coming out of its nose. I have 2 separate mice that seem fine and not like the other 2 we have. I would love to know what is wrong with my dead mouse and sickly looking mouse. read more

What I love about Feeder's Supply: 1. It's local and I shop local whenever I can 2. Very friendly and knowledgable staff 3. I can give my dog a bath here myself 4. They are the only place I have found in the area that sells the dog food I buy (Merrick) 5. Feeders Repeaters Card. After buying so many bags of food, you can get a bag for free. My only complaint is that a couple different times I have been there, there has been dog pee in some of the aisles. This is not as much the store's fault as it is the irresponsible customer not telling them what their dog did, however, it has been so frequent that maybe it would be best if an employee would walk around the aisles every so often to make sure there are no messes. read more

I like Feeders Supply because it's an independent locally owned and operated Mom and Pop store that has blossomed over the last 25 years in the Kentucky and Southern Indiana area. I have been shopping there for years. They have a program called the "Feeder Repeater," which is a reward program. You buy so many bags of your pet food and you earn a free bag when your reward card is full. I have two large indoor doggies and they have a huge appetite. So it's a bonus for me. I have ordered my pet food online in the past from Chewys.com or Wag.com but overall, I prefer the convenience of a local store. They run specials throughout the year and combine that with their reward program and it's a better savings. As far as their selection on pet food, they carry pretty much every brand from Orijen, Blue to your basic Purina. They have some baked bones that are made in the USA that I purchase every week as an additional treat. My dogs love the peanut butter bone. I don't purchase the chews, not because the ones they carry are questionable. Pretty much every chew sold at any retailer in my book is questionable. As for pet collars, I have always purchased the more expensive reflective collars. The color and reflection lasts for years! They always have a nice selection when I've purchased them in the past. The pet wash is also a part of their reward program. I usually give my dogs a bath at home or they go to the groomer. However, I have used it in the past when they were younger. Most of the time, it has been very clean with plenty of products available. I like the large wash stations, retractable shower heads, adjustable water temperatures, complimentary towels and ramps. Pet beds, I have purchased so many, many, MANY beds through the years. I don't care where you go, SAMs Club, Walmart, Petco, Petsmart, Target, ect., they are all basically the same bed. Just a different style, a different material. They are ok but none of them last. I found Orvis.com and purchased a true tempurpedic bed for my senior dog. It's high $$$$$, but I've had it now for 2 years and it still looks and feels brand new. It is a better deal overall because this one has lasted. Most people probably wouldn't spend $500 on a pet bed, but add up every pet bed you've purchased and I bet you've spent more than $500. Back to Feeders Supply...as for their employees, most of them are in the age range of seniors in high school to college kids. They are minimum wage. I wouldn't expect them to be highly educated about any specialty food. But that's most pet food retailers. Plan on doing your own homework online and know what you want when you walk in. I frequent the New Albany store on State Street because it's the closest to our home. Most of the employees at this store are friendly. My only complaint is sometimes the shelf is empty of the pet food I want to purchase. I will ask an employee, such as one of the guys and they will go check and bring the cases out to me from the back. However, I have found that on several occasions a couple of the female employees won't go and check. They just say they are out. Since I shop there every week and have been for years, it's obvious they have a few lazy employees. But I try not to let one or two bad apples bother me, because I like the convenience. Besides, I know they won't last in retail anyway. So it's only a matter of time before they're history. Overall I like shopping at Feeders Supply and I want to support a store that offers local adoption from my communities animal shelter. This is not a pet smart or pet co. I went there to get muzzles for our Scotties and that was about the extent of it. I do not like the dog clothing they carry. I was not impressed with the selection of their dog food either. I was looking for a bag of Purina Veterinary Diets HA Hydrolyzed. No, they do not carry that. Dog treats are made in china or made in south America. My Scotties got sick eating the cow hide so I threw away the rest of the bag. I was also looking for a bark control collars but an employee was not so knowledgeable so I bought them from Tractor Supply and Co. and bought the dog food from Chewy.com. read more

Most of the employees seem like they don't want to be there and don't want you to bother them, especially to get fish/shrimp from aquatics department. I tried to use a coupon they have posted on their website for 10%off supplies when you buy a new home for small animal... which it states that aquariums do qualify! A girl at the State Street location argued with me though, saying that it was only if you bought the entire display set up (showcasing aquariums and accessories and stands all together on display) which includes a LOT of stuff and a stand. A guy (manager maybe) corrected her, after I pulled up the coupon on the site to show them, and told her that it could be used for everything I was purchasing other than the aquarium (which was over $100 worth of stuff), and she still didn't apply it to my purchase!! I live next to the Grantline road location, and needed something additional that evening, so I ran up there and showed them the coupon, receipt and showed them that I did not get the coupon applied to my purchase earlier that day. While no one seemed to know what the coupon entailed or was familiar with it in the least, after showing them the verbage with the coupon on their site, they agreed that I should have gotten it. Even though, the manager said she could not do anything about it and that I could try to go back to State Street Feeders and see if they can adjust it. Hmm... Seems pretty unorganized and unprofessional, not to mention highly frustrating!!!! Now, even though I am literally a 1min drive from the Grantline location, I will travel to Petco 20 minutes away before I will return to feeders.
