It had remained unopened and stored away in my garage. Out of curiosity, I opened the box and sure enough, no critters had gotten to the contents. Over the next few weeks, I began taking MREs along with me to work. Outside of a couple packages of Skittles and a package of M&Ms, everything was still as fresh and edible as when they were packaged 24 years ago.
