I hung up and ordered a new one that costs $10.30 for the item AND shipping. Be wary of this company.

Whenever my unit was operating under field conditions, we were issued MREs for sustenance. I started my military career when many items in the MRE were freeze dried. Further along, the MREs evolved into a meal that required water only for the heater pack This past summer I ran across a case of MREs that were produced in 1996. It had remained unopened and stored away in my garage. Out of curiosity, I opened the box and sure enough, no critters had gotten to the contents. Over the next few weeks, I began taking MREs along with me to work. Outside of a couple packages of Skittles and a package of M&Ms, everything was still as fresh and edible as when they were packaged 24 years ago. I enjoyed each meal and remembered some of the tough times we had back then. My hat's off to the men and women who worked together to produce these meals for our military. Keep up the good work!
