Mike came and assessed my job first and clearly told me what he would do to solve my damp problem and gave me a price that I was happy with. He updated me on when he was going to come and do the job and turned up on the day at the said time, which from my experience with other tradesmen just doesn't happen anymore. He covered everything up before carrying out the work and worked non stop till the job was complete. I didn't want to be committed to him so I didn't get anything in writing, the verbal quote was £715 for 2 walls, the front room and dining room chimney breast walls, the price Mike Walker told me included an insurance backed guarantee but when I paid him I didn't receive my insurance backed guarantee, he told me that was an extra £100, which I had to hand over because he'd cashed the £715 and had nothing in writing about the price. about 1 year later I noticed damp on my dining room chimney Breast, instead of it being covered on his guarantee as I thought I'd paid him to fix the damp, he charged me an extra £60 and it took me many phone calls to get him to do the work. I have now noticed discoloration to my wallpaper and as he has changed his company name and not had the courtesy to return my calls I thought I'd use the insurance backed guarantee but find it's not worth the paper it's written on as he didn't give me any written plans for the work. I would stay well clear of Total Stop Damp.
