Wow what a surprise. We came in on a Thursday around 1pm. Reading the reviews I really wanted to try this sushi out : ) It is located inside the gas station and you have to wait to pay at the gas station counter. I asked the gentleman behind the counter about his working at Blue Nami (in Roseville area) and he confirmed that he used to work there and that he wanted to open a place up in this area but no restaurant spaces are anywhere near here...yet. My go to order for any new sushi place I go to is the California roll. If a restaurant can't get this roll right...?!? It was surprisingly good!! Rice was well seasoned but just a little softer than than traditional sushi rice (been eating Japanese made sushi my entire life). This roll makes me want to come back and try some others... Well what do you know? Good sushi at a gas station! I called to see what time they closed and they had already closed but the chef answered the phone and said I could still order!! How cool is that. I called over an hour after they had closed! He was very nice and answered my questions since we hadn't been there before. I read a review that said the chef used to work at Blue Nami and I could def see the resemblance in the rolls! OK with me since we used to love Blue Nami when we lived in Rocklin! We ordered the Lion King, Eel Roll, Demon Roll and the Chef Special Roll (the chef told me he could make other special rolls so I ask him to surprise us) Our favorite was the eel roll and least was the chef special. It had fried jalapeño slices on the top which I thought was genius but they were not fresh fried which I didn't care for. I also wish the rolls were just a little bit larger. I was still wanting more after two rolls! Plumas Lake is extremely lucky to have a place like this in town! Will be back next time we stay at the casino read more

Yes. I ate gas station sushi and YES I liked it! This place is fresh and reasonably priced and oh so close to home! I was able to text my order ahead of time which was terrific! The chef is efficient but don't expect a pick up and go, this quality is much better than that. It's made fresh and to order! You can call/ text ahead or order at the counter. Sushi in a gas station! But the guy knows what he's doing. Try the bear role with cilantro. I was skeptics bc cilantro is not normal on sushi but it was bomb! Also got the lion king and spicy tuna. Hubs and I ate it up on the drive home in less than 15 minutes. Will def be back. Reasonably priced too. We head up this place when we're heading home from the airport. Holy crap! I met Javi officially last week. I use to come in before and he was always so friendly but I never really talked to him because you know "gas station sushi" has always been a no go. One day last week we got to talking, he told me his backstory and said he's even willing to let me try it to let go of my skepticism. He told me he gets all his fish from the same vendors that all the top restaurants in the surrounding areas do. Let me tell you, my wife and I tried the Lion King today. It's better than most restaurants around here.
