This review is for Katy at the Louisville location. Did you ever watch the TV show 'Touched by an Angel' and think, "Whoa, what would it feel like to actually be touched by an angel?" If you book a microblading service with Katy at Feather and Blade, you will find the answer to that question. I scheduled my microblading appointment back in March...and then COVID hit and shut everything down, pushing my appointment back. Which, public health obviously matters more than my eyebrows, so no biggie. Finally, I was re-scheduled for early September and I was PUMPED. Even better, Katy honored the original price I paid months before. The day of my appointment, I arrived a few minutes early. The main door is locked so people can't just willy-nilly wander in. Katy was busy cleaning off the table and the surrounding space and I waited outside. After she finished cleaning, she let me into the building. The flow of the space is so relaxing and inviting. I immediately felt at ease. She got a before picture of my eyebrows (any other millennials go through a phase in the early 2000s where you over plucked your eyebrows and they never grew back? Yeahhhh) and then we talked about expectations. I honestly hadn't thought too much about my brows other than knowing I needed them. I knew what I didn't like and told Katy that and some other nonsense that probably wouldn't have made sense to a normal human, but Katy rocks and knew exactly what I meant. She mapped out my new brow shape, talking me through the process and getting my approval with every step. She numbed my brows before beginning any actual work, definitely helped take away some of the sting. The pain level was minimal regardless, plus she talks to you during to keep your mind off it. The attention to detail Katy applies to her craft is amazing. She's done over 800 brows and actively listens to her clients. I felt 100% comfortable with letting her do her magic. She is an artist. saw the owner Holly for freckle tattoos, Husband came with, looked for a second and she asked him to go away. She asked in a semi polite way but still was very off putting. Freckles looked beautiful and was told they would last 2-3 years. Within 2 days they were 100% gone, she is very confrontational and rude, pretends not to receive voicemails, calls, or texts. When I get her on the phone she was very aggressive and pretended she couldn't hear me, very demeaning. Asked for a refund and she finally said she would but has yet to do so. I went to Holly to have my brows done. She was very sweet however my brows are uneven and was hoping the perfecting session would even things over but instead I am afraid they are just as uneven but now even more permanent. The most confusing part was I never took off my face mask. I would assume that the entire face would need to be evaluated to determine shape, size, etc. one side also has a significantly higher and more defined arch than the other. Oddly enough my brows had more symmetry before this procedure. Right now I am looking into options to fade them but just wanted to share my experience since I am now struggling to get rid of the pigment, and it is a struggle. Very disappointed in my experience at feather and blade. I came here for the first time about 2.5 years ago and had my brows micro bladed. I was happy at the time but did notice that over time they faded into a red color (my eyebrows are light brown) so I went back for a yearly touch up. All in all I spent close to $800-$900 for the original micro blade (this includes two sessions) and touch up 1 year after. My sisters and I decided to gift my mom a micro blading session (2 total sessions) for Christmas. I came in with my mom because my mom has never had any tattoo type procedures and was a bit nervous. I was standing next to the chair (not overly close as I am a dentist and I know people need personal space to work). Holly, the owner who was doing my mom's brows, said in a rude voice you need to step back. I was taken aback. I would never talk to a patient or client like that, especially one who had given me business and referred someone to me. I was not leaning in her face but I was standing next to my mom holding her hand. I stepped back and awkwardly sat down because I felt uncomfortable. At the end of the session I mentioned to Holly that my mom lives in California and the touch up session (every micro blade first time session comes with an original session and a touch up 6 weeks after) might need to be closer to 9-12 weeks later. I asked if that was ok. She said that was fine. About 3-4 weeks before my mom was coming back I tried to schedule online and noticed that Holly was only working Tuesdays and Wednesday's which did not work with when my mom would be in town. I thought it was strange that those days were the only availability she had. I searched the calendar further out and noticed she worked those days every week and no other days. I reached out to Holly to see if she would be willing to accommodate us or help us in any way. She was very short and rude in her emails and actually said that I should have coordinated my mom's flight with her schedule and basically said I was out of luck. My mom was very upset because one of her eyebrows after the original session was significantly darker than the other. She says she has to fill her brows in now before going anywhere because the difference was extreme. She did not do that before but now she has to. Holly said she was opening up a business in Louisville which is why her hours are limited. That seems to be keeping her very busy and she does not care about her Lexington clients. I asked Holly for a refund as my mom only received part of her service. Holly claimed to have sent the refund but I never received it. In her emails she responded to me in the most condescending way. I remember showing the email to multiple friends and they were astonished at her emails. All in all, you will leave here with your brows looking great but several weeks down the line they will need some adjustment. Holly is socially awkward and doesn't know how to speak to her clients in a respectful and caring way. She is more concerned with opening up her other business in Louisville. In addition to how she treated my mom and I, she ghosted my best friend's mom who came in for an appointment and had driven 2 hours for said appt. she texted her when she arrived on time for her appt that she had to cancel. My friend's mom had arranged a babysitter and made the drive into Lexington only to turn right back around. Holly did not seem apologetic and did not compensate her in any way. I plan to drive to Ohio to see someone there who will treat me with kindness. I have been telling everyone I know who mentions micro blading not to go to feather and blade. I hope it was worth it Holly. Might be time to go back into accounting/ finance where you do not have to interact with others. read more

Katy did my brows perfectly in a natural looking dark blonde. She followed my natural shape but with a slightly higher arch than my natural arch, which I requested for a more elegant look. It's perfect. Even 3 months later it is just what I wanted. People don't notice I've had it done. I was concerned about the color being too warm or too cool, or about the result being too bold. I live in Indiana and after all the time I searched, I decided a 2.5 hour drive was worth it & I don't regret it! I love my brows ! Worth every penny and hour driving. My first session went well. I understood there will be fading from the brows. When I returned for my second session, the mircoblading stylist could see I had returned with just my brow. It didn't hold at all. So, instead of it being a touch-up, we had start from scratch. Okay, no big deal. But after I left in 4 weeks it was pretty gone again. I called in 6 weeks to let them know and I asked for more experience mind you will to pay for a touch up if I could go with someone else. I was refused the offer. So, when I was told to go back to the same girl, I was told she'll call me and we could talk. The girl, didn't call but emailed me to avoid just talking about it. Instead insisting to make an appointment as I would online. I felt that was unprofessional and if I was the problem. It would of been much better to have received a phone call as I was told, since it can be difficult for a client to reach out when something is wrong with the service. I wanted to write a review on my experience with Feather and Blade. 3 years ago, I booked an appointment with Holly for eyebrow micro-blade. I walked in the door and Holly asked me what I wanted done. At that time there was not much information about the process and there were very few places that did this work, or even posted any reviews in Lexington, Ky. I didn't know I had any options at that time regarding what I wanted (combination, ombré, or microblading) her response is whatever you want. Like so many other people we go to a professional because we have an expectation that they would share what choices we have and what might serve us best in the end. There was no conversing just a quick picture and then we were off to start. First off, my mistake for not being better informed and assuming that Holly would provide guidance. So please do the necessary work to call places, speak with them, talk with others who have had the same procedure done. At the time I booked the only responses I ever received were "we will discuss at your appointment" never happened! The pictures you see on their website is a before and right after procedure. Color is dark, fresh and shape looks great. Beware it is a false sense of good-looking eyebrows after all healing is done. You are given a treatment plan to follow for 4 weeks before returning for touch-up to correct any mistakes. I had eyebrows that were very misshaped not even close to being even on my face, they were very narrow for my face, the tails had two lines going down also not even on thickness, color was very ashy and blotched. I went to my touch up and still walked away with the same results. $500.00 later. Fast forward to (2022) now I spent the last 2.5 years trying to get someone to fix them and I always had the same answers no one will do work over another artist's work. After my time with Holly, I didn't want to go back to her and to get the same results. I checked with others to see about getting them removed and the process would cost $ 300 plus it would take 8 months and would be like a bad sunburn for a while (long process very expensive). I went through a lot of eyebrow pencils, powder, and everything to get them to look halfway decent with some shape and color. Finally, the day came when I had exhausted my patience and decided to call Holly back, I first tried to book with Katy in her office, no chance. Before this final call I had tried to book someone in Cincinnati, Louisville and Nashville, again no one would try to fix someone else's work. They all ask you to send photos before they will even talk with you. I was hopeful that 3 years would have made a difference in her artistry. In November 2022 I went in and had them redone and I can honestly say in my opinion it was a waste of money. The shape is still very much off and I am back to trying to find a product that will fix my botched eyebrows. It certainly takes a toll on one's self confidence. I had 2 other business' look at my eyebrows and both suggested that woman over 65 should use a combination eyebrow due to wrinkling of our skin and uneven color caused by microblading alone. They both also stated that in order to fix them it would be another $800.00 (removal and eyebrow combination redo) and up to 8 months before I would be done with proud eyebrows. My eyebrows are now uneven, thick stroke lines, and it has a zebra like appearance fading, ash color. Other professionals said it appeared that the microblading did not penetrate the skin deep enough and the mapping out may not have been done correctly. Please read this review and take the time to research who you choose to invest in wisely, ask lots of questions, this is difficult with Feather and Blade (because they get a deposit up front , nonrefundable) before you even can book an appointment. Some in town will meet and talk with you first so you have a better understanding of what to expect. I would recommend also asking for pictures of their clients eyebrows after they have at least 3 months done from a full frontal view. People wouldn't object because it would only show their forehead and brows and not reveal their identity. Remember this can be a wonderful experience and the clients can be great advertising for their business, or like in my case it can produce a costly, time consuming regretful situation not easily fixed. It is your face and it does matter so please make your decision wisely and take your time!!!! read more
