As the Maid of Honor, I was in charge of plans for the weekend and I wanted to start the trip with my own version of a bike tour around Folly. I called 2 days prior to our arrival because I didn't initially think we needed a formal reservation, but started to get nervous as we got closer to the trip. When I called, the guys told me it would be no problem and they would have 10 bikes ready for us at 11:00am that Friday. I wasn't sure what would happen when we arrived, so I held my breath and crossed my fingers all would work out. I was ecstatic when we arrived to see Will and Cameron already at the door waiting on us!! We were maybe 5 minutes or so after 11:00 (10 girls can be a lot to get out the door) but they both commented on us "being on time," so I felt much better. They got us setup and on our way very quickly. I even asked for some of their "expert opinions" on restaurant/bars we should stop throughout the day and they provided us with great recommendations. I think having the bikes on a Friday was perfect because we didn't run into too much traffic and it felt very safe everywhere we went. We were really sad to return the bikes at the end of the day. I thought we would only spend a few hours on them since Folly isn't that big, but we were having so much fun we stayed on them until the shop was closing. By the end of the weekend, I asked the girls what their favorite part of the trip was and the most common response was the bikes!! If I had to do it over, I would probably pay to rent bikes for the full weekend. It was the best way to get 10 girls around Folly Beach!

We rented a hot pink scooter for two since the Vespa looking one was more of a one seater. Let me tell you, she didn't know what she was signing up for. With 50cc's of air cooled raw horsepower between both of our legs this was a honeymoon adventure we would never forget. Riding down the Main Street on Folly Beach in the most macho thing on the island was a real treat. I had to tell no less than 287 women and 16 men that I was married to the person on the back, my wife, because of all the looks we got. My wife said she had never felt such power between her legs like that little pink scooter had to offer. If you're in the area and want to not only look good but feel good an hour at a time, this is the place.

The park has plenty of other activities too, mostly for kids, so you could easily spend several hours here (and probably lots of money).

At high tide it's a tricky walk as sadly there's a lot of natural erosion happening. There are a lot of shells that are so pretty, you are not allowed to take but admire. There is a restaurant right when you walk up that has outdoor seating, live music and a separate bar area. There are public bathrooms but they were pretty dirty when I went. We have not tried the restaurant yet, but the food smells good we will try it next time. The bar looks awesome but it closed early at 8pm on a Saturday so I was not able to try it. The views are beautiful and the pier is huge. Lots of seating and benches, you can also fish on the pier but you need a license. Definitely visit the pier if you are in Folly! We will be back.

The photography group I visited the park with, Leighton Dacosta Photography and Jerrica SM Photography, selected an early call time to catch the beautiful sunrise. Upon arrival, it was quite eerie but, cool! The location was total tranquility once dawn approached. And of course there wasn't a lot of visitors this early which could be perfect for a quite morning for coffee and sunrise or a breakfast picnic and sunrise. I'm looking forward to visiting in my near future now that I will have more days free to travel and explore the world. The kids were able to feed, brush and comb out the horses tails. They were taught the care of the horses hooves. With little to no experience they had a riding lesson on a very gentle horse. They talked about it for hours after we got home. They loved it and I loved seeing them so excited about the experience. We went home with a dozen free range eggs after a stop at their chicken coop to watch the chickens laying their eggs and collecting some of the eggs. Definitely a five star experience!
