As a resident of Phoenix of the past 15 years, I'm writing this review of their past performance and intentions via their recent news release regarding their plans to eradicate violent crime. After reading the article I had to chuckle to myself. I've lived here in the valley for 15 years now. I've read the crime news stories and reviewed some of the research regarding growth of crime in the valley. I also happen to consider the crime as a weed problem. In the article they use the words eradicate and long term. Long term is considered 7-10 years and eradicate means to destroy completely. Eradicate is also associated with pest and weed control. Sure violent crime may be down over last year but we are experiencing a Covid-19 economic effect. The immigration laws may be contributing too. During the 2008 to 2014 economic recessionary time frame violent crime decreased but then went back up with the economic recovery. The data shows the Phx-Tus corridor violent crime rate is up over the last 10 years. Or is it just a systematic issue ? The state and city officials have been proud of the population and economic growth. It's been good for businesses. It's supposed to be a good thing for everyone, except for the criminals. But the criminals do run their operations like a business. American history tells us this. An obvious example is Al Capone. He took advantage of a legislative effect that produced an economic opportunity. The Phx-Tus corridor is the one of the main drug trafficking areas in the US. By how long it's been around it's like an established institution. Perhaps like the untouchables, the FBI has hired some new super agents or maybe they have a secret plan to dismantle the systematic crime operations that exist ? I can't help but be skeptical. Based upon history I think law enforcement may only be able to slow the growth of the weeds. When economic recovery comes, I only anticipate it following the upwards trend. The criminals are enterprising & they work hard. They are work bitches to meet their own goals as much as you and I are in trying to pursue ours. Law enforcement's optimism sounds like my own optimism when I moved here to Phoenix. 'We can do this !' I thought I was still in America, a place where I could continue my American way of life, pursuing the American dream. But the property crime makes Phoenix seem like a communist type of sharing program. Honesty, reading about the instances of the violent crime is puzzling. I don't fully understand how on earth people get into such trouble. Their line of thinking is beyond me. Unfortunately, communities all over the country experience the same thing. The way of life just isn't endearing. The American flag may fly over this part of the country but it seems like it could just as well be a communist or pirate flag. The crime levels do impact our democratic way of life. By the time the Phx FBI gets the crime eradicated I could already be 7 ft under, hopefully in a truly free part of the USA. I say 7 ft because I want to be buried down one more foot than normal so if there is an afterlife and I'm located next to any hell raisers or party animals, I'll hopefully get a little more peace than if I were buried at the normal 6 feet. But for the sake of another generation I hope the FBI succeeds. That's my candid review of my 15 years of experience with Phoenix law enforcement's efforts to control and reduce the violent crime while I've resided in the city of Phoenix, Arizona.
