I was very happy with the price, especially since most "curly hair" salons will charge for a first-time consultation and then into the hundreds of dollars for a cut. I thought her quote was very affordable. The location was easy to find, but the street doors to the building are locked, so you need to go in through the parking lot and find the inside hall doors, which are unlocked. Her single room salon was very clean and organized. She was very thoughtful about the cut I wanted, and asked questions about how my hair usually behaves. She said that she believes that the person who knows your hair best is you, and I really appreciated that, because I've definitely had stylists in the past who have heard me, and then gone ahead to give me whatever cut they felt like. I was hoping that adding layers and taking off some length would help my wider 2B/2C curls shrink and give my hair more volume, and the results started immediately and continued into a few days after the cut. My hair feels easier to wash, style, and manage in general, and it maintains its look for longer. Heather recommended some products she likes, but she didn't push for me to buy them, which is another thing I've experienced in other salons. The appointment lasted about 90 minutes. Overall, it was a really great experience--one of the best that I've had. Heather was very friendly to talk with, and very detail-oriented. :)

This review is for Kali Jones in particular - I've been happy with all of my haircuts from her! She's very good at recommending styles and cuts, but is completely cool about listening to exactly what you want and making sure she gives it to you. Every time I go she gives me tips on how to do my hair (I'm not very good with hair...) like how to blow dry it, use a flat iron to curl it, even how to cut my own bangs if I dont feel like coming in for her free bang trim! She's always going to hair conferences and trying to learn new things to make her an even better stylist- which I appreciate because then she brings new hair options to me! If she moves from this salon, I will definitely follow her.
