I had read about this restaurant in a travel magazine and since we were going to be in Buenos Aires, we decided to try it. Located on a side street in a residential neighborhood. It is a very modern sleek restaurant with an open kitchen. They serve home made pickles, very good. They gave us samples of their craft beers to try. I tried their in house smoked pastrami, very good, served on home made pita. My wife ordered one of their salads and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint is that they speak very little English. Otherwise, a great experience.

    So tender flavorful Woza!!!

Amazing! So very good! Jewish food in Argentina done with such craft and flair that it really should not be missed! Beet hummus, pickled vegetables, salads with beans, dill and more truly show the joy of small plates by being able to mix and match. Throw in giant kabobs served on steel skewers or a pastrami sandwich and you are in upscale deli heaven. Kick it up a notch and go for the Pastrami, the on the bone, 12 days in the making masterpiece and you will be in for a world class treat. So very, very good!! Tender and full of spice and a bit of smoke from being cooked with fire! Pair it with half a dozen small plates and it could easily feed a group of four people or two hungry travelers about to embark on a 24 hour trip of planes, trams and buses to reach their much missed home! Well worth fitting in to any visit to Buenos Aires!

One of my favorite restaurants in Buenos Aires is Mishiguene, the modern Israeli creation from chef Tomás Kalika.

Hummus/Pita - this was complimentary and the first place, after eating at 30 restaurants in BA where the bread came out warm! Shawarma - I had over 3-4 shawarmas in BA and the shawarma here was the best one, if not the only good one I had. There is flavor in the shawarma sauce and the bits of pickle add complexity. Bife de chorizo / Grilled Beef - the sirloin steak was cooked exactly how we asked, medium rare. The accompanying fries were crispy and topped with paprika I think. Mixed Grill - consisted of shish tawouk, shish kebab and chicken kebab served with a dip of hummus, pita and french fries. The shish kebab was moist and had a smoky flavor, it was my favorite. The owner spoke to us at great length during our meal and after our meal. He told us his story of coming to Argentina as a trained chef. It is his intention to serve zabiha food to people of BA and tourists like us! Baklava - he offered us complimentary baklava which was sweet like the baklava. No exaggeration at all, this was the best baklava I ever had. It wasn't messy to eat and each layer stood on its own. The top layer was thick and crispy at the same time, not sure what phyllo dough is used but what a well done baklava. ALSO - the menu has such variety. They have burgers, shawarmas, steaks, grilled salmon, quesadillas, sandwiches, salads and wraps, etc. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I missed the…read morepopup that Chef Tomás Kalika had at Intesect by Lexus in 2019 where my son-in-law was a sous chef. This was my opportunity. I seized it. I secured a reservation for my wife and I and was not disappointed. Situated in a neighborhood not unlike Surfside in Miami, this so-called Mediterranean restaurant exceeded all my expectations. From the greeting we received upon entering; to our server, Mariano, explaining portion sizes as well as the many dishes in which my wife could order or that the sous chef could alter due to allergies; to the suggested wines that may accompany our order. I had my heart set on BABA GANOUSH appetizer and PASTRAMIED RACK OF BEEF- their signature dish; the Baba Ganoush had tomato in it so that was out for Edna but another eggplant dish was substituted and it was just what the doctor ordered. The Pastrami preparation I opted for was not available but the PASTRAMI WELLINGTON: Beef Short Rib Pastrami, Mushroom Duxelles, Swiss Chard and Dijon Mustard; Served with Date Demi-Glace and Assorted Peppercorns, I eventually ordered was to die for. Edna opted for the fish of the day which was MULLET in a fine sauce made with Pastis. For dessert, I wanted something different and we got it: PUMPKIN, BLUE CHEESE AND MISO consisting of nixtamalized Pumpkin, Blue Cheese Mousse and Pumpkin Tofee with Miso. it was a small portion but it was delicious. A few words about the ambiance: the inside was beautifully decorated; the lamps hung in a low glow to accentuate the dark wood walls; the Michelin certificates proudly hung in a discreet spot; an outdoor section had been assembled to accommodate the throngs of diners as the interior is on the small size. Geez, it was only a Monday night!

So we toddled over taking an extended fruit stop for cherries etc to stave off Tajo's hunger. On arrival the 2 wines I ordered were out of stock but the Luigi Borsa white wine blend they subbed was good enough to change the order from a glass to a bottle ($50,000 ARS) The mixed bread platter soon arrived as I marveled over the towel like napkins the biggest ever! After our starters of Potato Varniki for Tajo (6) we got Zhoug ...great!(10) and Wagu steak bites (7) with a chutney like condiment...meat very rare but not that beefy. Then we ordered the entrees...Seafood Farfalaj & Farm Chicken. So we waited.......& waited............& waited...........until it got so late we had to box our orders for home to put Tajo to bed .. This reminded us for the 30 minutes it took the guy at the fruit stand to pick out the cherries, wash & polish them before finally finishing the transaction...very typical of the "Portenos" (or people of the port) & their lackadaisical attitude with speedy service being from Buenos Aires When we got back to our nicely appointed AirBnb to eat, the rumor that this place was Michelin rated did not hold up to that level for us ....good..... but not sublime ...........................................maybe try again next year?

There is a food truck near the entrance that serves beverages, but you have to wander back a ways to the kitchen and ordering/pick-up station. First impressions, ambiance and operational description: 2 stars ---- The place is very linear and extends quite far back. ---- There is nobody who greets you. ---- The ambiance is sort of like a German beer hall, but accommodated in an Argentine house. Kind of quirky. ---- There is outdoor seating along the right side, under cover of a canopy and there is indoor seating on the left. Seating amounts to long picnic tables and benches, so you end up sharing your table with others, which is perfectly fine, except groups of either 2 or 4 occupy a spot, leaving only room enough for two. Needless to say, most parties are 4 or 6, leaving everyone a bit frustrated and having to shift around so others can squeeze in and get seated. ----The place to order and pick up your food is a ways back from the front. Once you arrive in this incredibly bright space it's not clear/intuitive who is supposed to take your order. (It's the person you face as you walk into the space.) There are no servers. ---- The menu is located up rather high, above and behind a series of blinding lights that make looking at the menu uncomfortable. Also, it's not behind the person from whom you order, but over the kitchen, which makes it confusing as to whom you are to give your order. ---- You pay the for your food (not your drinks) at the time you order it and they give you a claim check and a receipt. They tell you to return to pick up your food in 10 minutes. ----This arrangement is a bit crazy because the counter is filled with plates of food waiting to be picked up and the room is packed with people staring and the menu and ordering food AND other people trying to get through to grab their food. Then those people have to negotiate their way through the crowd to get out of the room and too their tables. It's chaotic and poorly thought out. Or should I say, not thought out. ---- Once you have ordered/paid, you trek back to the food truck at the front to buy your drinks and then search for a table. The place gets incredible crowded. I saw several people sitting on the floor, next to full tables, because there wasn't enough seating for their entire party. ---- Once were were finished, it wasn't clear whether you are supposed to leave your trash on the table or if they clean up after you. Finding no place to deposit the plates and trash, we left them behind, which made me wonder what the next group would do, being faced with our pile of trash. The food: 2 stars From what we could determine, the menu is limited to sandwiches, but a large variety, and french fries. I ordered pastrami with everything that they offer to put on it. The pastrami is nothing like that which we're accustomed to Chicago or New York. It's not peppered, not thinly sliced. The flavor of the pastrami was perfectly fine, but it's thickly sliced and on a thick onion bun that had the texture of Wonder Bread. The others in my party all liked their sandwiches, but we all had the same complaints: The sandwiches, which are supposed to be hot, were cold, as were the seasoned french fries. Personally, I think they should be embarrassed serving food in this way. The service: Other than interacting with the people taking orders/payment, there is no service. The price is reasonable, but they need to impose some sort of rational organization/flow; overcome the frustrating seating issues; and, for cryin' out loud, serve the food hot.
