Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Crowd just before the show

Queen Elizabeth Theatre

The closest subway station is Dufferin. The bus line would be 29C. They will fill your empty water bottle if you happen to bring one. Floor seating was pretty spacious. The balcony seating felt a little squish/cramped.

I wish to leave this post as immediate testomony to as to what took place at queen Elizabeth…read moretheatre on the wed Aug the 7th 2025 at 9pm at the event "The dreamverse: young stunners & friends." For which I had legally obtained rights to entry by virtue of purchasing a ticket to attend (attached). I had gained entrance to the event and was inside the show and was waiting for the show to start with a friend and his wife. We decided to step outside for a cigarette and some fresh air, but got separated as we left. When I reached the exit my friend has already exited the premises. I witnessed some commotion at the gate as I exited and thought better than to risk being caught in the rush and thought to reagin entry back the way I had come out. I decided to speak with the man at the door who seemed to be a manager of the opeartion. This man was a white male about 5'10" tall. He was wearing baseball hat and a grey shirt (I learned later from other staff that he was the general manager of security). As I asked this person the question of how to get back inside, he said that I must leave and gestured for me to exit (I request access to the video tapes that corroborate this as evidence). I said that I would prefer to just go back the way I had come out as that was the reason I had come to speak with him in the first place. At this point he inexplicably lost his temper in a manner that bordered on abusive and violently pushed me to exit. I stood my ground and demanded rentry by the same door by which I had exited. he refused and pushed me physically to deny entry. At this point he said the words, "I'm not letting you in, you're done." And signaled to security to escort me out. As they came and also physically acosted me without any cause, I demanded that I be allowed to speak with the person that was demanding my exit. I managed to get the opportunity to address the man who had asked to have me removed, and explained to him that I was simply asking to return back to the event for which he had witnessed me exit without being denied entry. He signaled at this point to the security gentlemen to physically remove me. At this point absolutely devastated by the manner in which I was being treated I looked back at the man, directly in his eyes and yelled, "why are you doing this etc." I am appalled and shocked at this treatment and intend to press charges on the management of the event. As stated at the onset this is my immediate testimony that I am recording so that it may be part of the record. I request that a representative of the venue reach out to me to provide their side of events and discuss how evidence will be shared. I will add that as I sat outside and wrote this testimony several members of the staff offered their regrets on how I was treated and offered me water to drink. To this I am deeply grateful.

It's an old Buddhist temple turned into an event space…read more That alone should tell you how cool it is. There are several rooms here, the centerpiece is the great hall... a wonderfully large room with a stage that's outstanding for theater troupes, lectures or large meetings. With it's massive space, interesting acoustics and good sight-lines, there's also the obvious... you could throw a killer party in here. There are other rooms on the main floor. It's a surprisingly good floor-plan for both separation of space and ease of use. Downstairs there are several breakout rooms, classrooms and a giant kitchen. The rumour is that the actual piano that Oscar Petersen learned on in Montreal is sitting detuned in the back of the main stage. Avant-garde groups in the city have been onto this place for a year. It's been rented for everything from conferences and showcases to math-groups and chess clubs. They'll work with you to arrange liquor permits, and are incredibly cool to partner with.

Located just a hop, skip or a stumble away from the Bathurst Subway station, an in an area with more than adequate street parking (within certain hours), 918 is a hidden event venue gem that you actually might mistake as a church - and you'd be right one bc this little beauty used to be a Buddhist temple! The aesthetic is a tad dated in some spots but you can tell they're working hard at modernizing the place more and more while retaining the original charm of the venue. The secondary room and basement are brand new, while the entrance way and the main "ball room" look more original. What I love about this spot? It's the perfect raw space, and you could literally plan anything from a wedding, gala, or trade show to even a concert or speaking engagement here. It's got that look that's the right fit for just about anything - just need to use your imagination!

To provide a fair review, I attempted to interview the girls and get their feedback. Ummm, I didn't get far with them because they were quickly distracted by a squirrel pooping on our porch. With that, I would have to go with my opinion as a parent. We love it. Lorrie, the owner and teacher, is organized, methodical and fun. She's appropriately strict and the kids learn confidence and discipline (but not like the kind you learn in a Shaolin KungFu temple). The highlight is the annual dance recital that's held in a large theater. I was pleasantly surprised by the high production level, especially since the performers are mostly still wearing diapers. The dance studio is in the Junction and it's quite clean and comfortable. The classroom is large and appropriately padded. The waiting room for the parents has comfy chairs but could use some more current magazines. There's a change room and two washrooms. The bonus is there are a ton of things to do around the studio while your kid is in class. You can shop for organic food at The Sweet Potato, grab the best cup of coffee at Crema or indulge with a yummy Bronto Burger. We love it.

She has taken creative movers, tap, jazz, modern and musical theatre - but her favorites are definitely modern and jazz. She loves that each instructor she has had has given her plenty of opportunity to shine and she always leaves class energized. Creative Children's Dance Centre has not only enhanced her love of dance, but given her the opportunity to explore movement and gain confidence she carries beyond the studio. There are a good mix of boys and girls attending and the performances are truly spectacular to watch. Obviously I'm biased to love my daughters performances the most, the the tap and hip hop always get the audience excited and the ballet goes from adorable (the tiny performers) to inspiring as the more experienced intensive training or pre professional dancers grace the stage. As the previous reviewer said, the studio is clean and comfortable. The location is ideally situated among many distractions for parents (coffee shops, gyms, shopping) as well. The instructors are all lovely and the owner, Laurie is one of my daughters personal favorites.

Great new Jazz and dance club on Lansdowne where Dundas and College get together and do the rumba!…read more This was an existing club that moved into this space recently and which now haunts the space above one of Toronto's most iconic dance clubs below, Basement 254. (and another new club just a block away sprouted up this year - Sounds Good). The sound system in this smallish space (shares the same layout as Basement 254 below) is incredible and a signature feature of Contxt. I met a guy hanging out there who is behind the engineering. He told me his company builds not only the cabinets, but the actual drivers which produce the waves, cool! There is not one, not two, but three sets of capable speakers meaning the sound was well balanced throughout the space and not overly loud by the DJ booth and not loud enough elsewhere. Nice work! A great looking casual and inviting bar at the back attracted many who enjoyed hanging out and chatting. Serious coffee bar was adjacent showing that this place must have a daytime vibe as well, although I haven't seen that yet. I was at a party for a friend who is a beautiful person capable of filling a room like this with many loving individuals creating a heartwarming event. The bathrooms were very nice, with beautiful trim and cool art along the way. There was an art exhibit when we visited, which was a collab with another arts organization and had details posted on the wall. Nice! Highly recommended in this popular area and well worth seeking out at this busy intersection where you need to watch your azz when crossing due to spaz traffic coming from all directions so be careful!
