The girl who took our orders was sweet and pleasant, the others seemed in a rush and were bringing us orders from other tables by mistake. The restaurant was busy, so that's understandable. The formaggio pizza we shared had the most delicious blend of cheeses on a perfectly soft thin crust. The dough was made with a good quality flour, it was easy to tell from the taste and texture. Girotondo is the kind of place where you walk in, climb the stairs, and immediately wonder if…read moreyou've just crashed someone else's dinner party. The tables are communal, so you'll likely end up shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers which, honestly, is half the fun. When I went, the room was buzzing like a Friday night in Rome. The staff was absolutely slammed, and after 20 minutes of waiting I did the classic "walk up to the bar and smile politely" move. Worked like a charm as service came quickly after that. Pro tip: patience is your friend here. I ordered the bruschetta pomodoro (simple, fresh, no notes) and a margherita pizza with ham. Not trying to reinvent Italian cuisine, but they nailed the classics and sometimes that's exactly what you need. So, if you like your dinner with a side of chaos, chatter from total strangers, and the feeling that you've stumbled onto a local secret, Girotono is worth the climb upstairs. I was told it was ready before I left to pick it up. Pizza was cold when I got it home. Third time only one of my two pizzas were made. Had to wait for the other to be made and when I got home the first one that was made was cold. They were having problems with the order system, landing pizzas and boxing according to order, and making pizzas. This was all causes primarily from the order process they use. They also had problems walking as the floor is covered in corn meal making it slippery. When you are thinking about not falling you are not thinking about your task at hand. I have worked in 4 different pizza restaurants in the US and have never seen such a paralyzed work environment all the way from the ordering process to the unsafe floors. Get some rubber mats with holes at the rolling station to keep the corn meal there. Pros: pizza tastes good. Fair price. Cons: cold pizza. Poor ordering process. Unsafe work environment.
