I was told I couldn't have the NPI or the Tax ID that it was illegal. It is NOT Illegal my new dentist (the one i left their office for) prints it on my receipt so i can easily file my secondary. Kathy in the office argued they never had his secondary info which has been given to them previously. Then she said she would pull from my file and use that to file it. So how did they have mine and not his when it was given at the same time??? They would not give me the info so i can file. Per a quick internet search (which they should do) In the United States, it is not illegal for a dentist to give you their NPI and Tax ID -- both are legal identifiers used in healthcare billing and compliance, and they are not personal information in the same way as Social Security numbers or bank account details. What the NPI is and why it's shared The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is a 10‑digit, government‑issued number assigned to healthcare providers under HIPAA. It is a permanent, unique identifier used in all standard HIPAA transactions, such as claims submission, eligibility verification, and referral authorizations Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services+1. I called back later that day and told her to please remove me from the schedule that I was told by the Dr. one price and she charged me another price and that just was not fair or right...NO ONE ever goes in to get work done without know the price....that is just crazy! So I let it go...today I get another call for the office to informed me I owe yet another 500.......we rehashed my last visit and she said "well we gave you a service and now you have to pay for the service the Dr. did not know the prices I run the front desk" my reply was I agreed to the service based on what information my Dr. gave me....I did not think it was fair to change the price after I agreed with my Dr on a plan. They only accept two insurance carriers out of the many that are out there. However, they refuse to accept some of the biggest carriers insurance plans out there. Disappointing as we just moved to Ellijay and needed a Dental provider for the 4 of us. Between us, we have three difference carriers (Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare and Aetna) and they refused to be in network with any of those. Not exactly fly by night small carriers. I would highly encourage you to find another provider that will value your money as much as they value their own.
