Being new to the area, I was on a mission to find a good salon for my hair care needs. I've been…read morewearing protective styles for the past two years and wanted to continue. After some researching, I decided to try The Natural Hair Doc. It met my initial basic criteria - not far from home (again new to the area and I didn't want to venture deep into the unknown), ease in scheduling, and ease with payment options. All checks! The true test would be how long would I wait upon arrival. This can be so problematic. Another check- no wait at all! My stylist, Kerry, was courteous and friendly. She asked how I prefer to wear the front and went right to work. In about a little more than an hour and a half, she was done. I appreciated her explanation about the oil she applied, and why she braided my hair differently from my previous stylist, which would put less tension on my hair. I look forward to visiting their new location!

I asked for square and every single nail was round, bulky and uneven. Honestly one of the worst sets I have ever gotten in my 20 years of getting my nails done. Surprisingly when I went to the front desk she said my nails were fine and "how much more square do u expect than that?!" And she said they looked nice and I said really because this is one of the worst sets I've ever seen. She told me there were two different kind of square that's why and one is more round. I told her that would be squoval and I asked for square (they charge more for different shapes anyway) she fixed my nails to how they are supposed to be (thankfully) and then put my nail polish on very uneven and no where close to the beginning of my nail. I asked the guy to fix my polish after fighting with myself to stop bothering these people and he told me "they look nice u can't go close to skin it's not good" I said okay u can go close to mine It's fine. I'm kicking myself in the butt for even giving them a small tip, thinking I was being a pain but really their service is horrible and I will never go here again even as a last resort! My first and last time here. There were also 2 people in there with me who looked completely miserable the service at this place should be a crime they are robbing people and making u feel like you're not entitled to nice nails! I'm sure that 5 star review is one of them!

My hair was freshly washed and I only wanted 2 braids which were done very neatly. I like that Awa's accepts cash, Cash App and Zelle as forms of payment. Awa's prices are fair and reasonable compared to other salons. Not only do they do braids but weaves/sew-ins, wigs, press & curls, relaxers which would make them a full service salon. Awa's accepts walk-ins but I would think if you were getting a service that would take a while you might want to call and schedule an appointment. You will not be disappointed at Awa's!
