It was a rough morning. I had just gotten over some stomach issues, and if I recall correctly, I'm pretty sure my husband and I got into a small fight right before. On top of that, I have a deathly fear of riding bikes because of past trauma. But for my new husband, anything. Despite how dreary the situation was set up to be, this bike tour with Fat Tire was one of my favorite memories on our honeymoon. We arrived for our 10 AM tour after thinking we were going to be late, but the staff was very accommodating towards everyone. Our tour guide was Raquel, and I grew attached to her. Apparently she's from Florence, and the passion for her city was inspiring. I was enamored by the history lessons. We biked around for about an hour and a half, and she never made me feel like I couldn't keep up. My husband and I saw beautiful landmarks with the rest of our small tour group and went back to visit some of them later on. Though there were parts of the tour where I needed to walk my bike or stop myself from "capsizing" the positive experience helped me overcome my fear! read more

We booked a private e-bike tour of Florence. Rather than do the standard tour around Florence our guide Paolo offered to take us to the countryside as my wife is a less confident cyclist and wanted to spend less time in traffic and with many tourists walking all over the place. Paolo was more than enthusiastic to do that and changed his tour and talk to accommodate us. We had a great ride up to Piazza Michelangelo and then to the other side of the hillside where we were amongst the olive groves just past Villa di Volsanminiato. Rather than having a conversation about the history we had an interesting conversation about how Italian culture is changing with work culture and the difference between urban Italy and older rural Italy. Not your normal Italy bike tour conversation I am sure but really interesting and something we had not had a chance to do which is to have a converstion about what it is like to live in Italy with a native Florentine. We would do this again without hesitation and if you decide to do a bike tour definitely see if Fat Tire hasavailability and ask for Paolo specifically! read more

This review is for Italy Segway Tour's Florence Food Tour. This was one of our favorite tours (out of the 3 cities we visited in Italy). Our guide was Vanessa. We were fortunate to have her all to ourselves...you can't beat a private tour! She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and full of life! You could tell how proud she was to be a Florentine! When she heard we hadn't done a tour of the Florence Cathedral, she promptly proceeded to give us the highlights of this important building. As we made our way through the tour, she also pointed out some of the best places to get pizza or a quick bite. We extremely enjoyed tasting and learning about coffees, pastries, balsamic vinegars, olive oils, wines, and other foods that were typical for a Florentine. We also did not expect to taste a dish of pesto pasta or truffles. The tour was excellent! As an added bonus, Vanessa was so kind as to take us to a leather store after we told her we did not know where to go to buy a quality leather bag for an inexpensive price. The family-owned store was Lorenz Leather...they were very nice and helpful and their products were beautiful and reasonably priced! We bought a one-of-a-kind leather handbag that was handmade by the owner (it looked like a Gucci bag) and a leather jacket that was hemmed for free and ready for pick up by the end of our 3-hour tour. Overall, the Florence Food Tour was an excellent tour and we would highly recommend it to any food lovers! Bravissimo!! read more

We took a walking food tour led by Veronica & it was a really good experience. Veronica was very knowledgeable & charming - answering our many questions & pointing out some additional Cafes to try on our own. We had a great time. One problem (with Viator, not Fat Tire) was that our tour was scheduled on Sunday & Viator sent us a cancellation notice because the tour was scheduled on a Sunday. If you are deciding between a segway tour in Florence or one in Rome, go with Rome (Rex's Segway Tours). We did the segway tour in Rome an loved it so much that we did this one in Florence. I'm very glad that we learned how to ride them in Rome-- there was a video that 10 people watched on an iPad, and then they were pretty much thrown into pedestrian traffic on a segway. My nerves were rattled for them! Our group immediately told the guide that our ear pieces to hear the tour were cutting out.... And he apologized, said they were crappy equipment, and kept going with the tour. Uhhh... Why did we pay extra to have a guide if we couldn't hear him?!? In addition to them breaking up, FIVE of them died mid-tour and he said "oh, I guess we didn't charge the batteries". The segways worked, but they were either old or had been through a lot. They weren't in great shape. They also had speed controllers on them. You see a lot of highlights of Florence on the trip, but this tour is NOT worth the money. AMAZING! I can't say enough good things about this tour. My family did the Segway tour with Vanessa and she was incredible. We originally signed up for the 2 hour tour but when we arrived Vanessa told us the other two people signed up were doing the 3 hour and we could do the extra hour free of charge if we'd like!! We did the extra hour because we could not get enough of it. This was the first Segway tour we've ever done and it was awesome. Vanessa is so knowledgeable & could answer every question we had. I booked the palazzo vecchio tour through expedia and spent 156 dollars on a 2 hour tour that was supposed to be awesome. Upon arriving to the office, i was greeted by a lady and a the tour guide. They informed my fiance and i that due to the pitti uomo, the musuem was closed for the day and it was an unforeseen event. I was disappointed but completely understanding. They offered to provide us with another tour but we really wanted to see the palazzo vecchio and requested a refund. In good faith, the lady at the desk told me that she would contact expedia to get a refund process started and she did. So when i got back to the states, i decided to follow up with expedia for the refund. After a couple of days, they were able to accommodate my request for a refund and i was happy to write them a review. read more

A really fun way to see the beautiful city! It only took a few minutes to learn how to use a Segway and then you're off. Our guide was fantastic and showed us around all the main sites imparting her local knowledge and experience of living in this amazing city. It's also a great way to rise above the crowds when in popular areas. We took the tour the first morning we arrived in Florence and it really helped us to get our bearings, see parts of the city you wouldn't normally find and was without doubt, the most enjoyable part of our trip to Florence. read more

This has to be the best way to tour Florence - informative, in depth and great fun. It was easy to learn how to ride the Segway and at no time did we feel at risk or uncomfortable. Florence is a great city to discover by walking, but it"s even easier by Segway as it is a lot less tiring. Valentina was a brilliant guide & teacher keeping us informed of the sights, people, history and other local interests. We can"t wait to do another Segway tour In another city. We have registered our delight with trip advisor too and would recommend the tour and company to anyone visiting Florence.
