me and my family came in august and we lovedddd our waitress!! she was so sweet (and her nails were so cute lol) and made us feel super comfortable! i would absolutely come again because the food was also good, i ordered a torta de milanesa. the young man at the front was also really funny and sweet with us too! read more

Great place! The food is excellent and the vibe is perfect for celebrating something special or a fun night out. We came here particularly for the burrito challenge: finish a huge burrito with a side of rice and beans in under 12 minutes and it's free. My boyfriend finished with 2 minutes to spare. It's a decent portion but for someone who has a big appetite, I'd say it's pretty doable. The challenging part is the 12 minute time cap. You have to hustle. For completing the challenge, he got the meal free (and also a vodka shot) and a sombrero to take home. As for my "normal person" meal, I had the steak burrito bowl which was excellent. There was also a photographer going around taking pictures which was fun to take home a memory of the special dinner. read more

I visited this location for a 2nd time because i really enjoyed their chicken Mole Enchiladas. And i did again but.... The rub came when I paid in cash and was owed 17.36 cents. I only received 17.00. I brought it to the attention of my server, who then told me THAT FAT ROSIES HAS NO COIN CHANGE. What? I realize that some places will round for penny amounts but this is not that. The practice here is that this business is keeping your change when paying cash. And you won't know unless look for your change. It's not a matter of the server keeping it... the restaurant keeps it!! I tipped my server separately 20% in cash because she earned it. She offered to give me a dollar from her tip. i said absolutely no. If YOU are saying to yourself, it's only 37 cents ..... lemme ask you .... How about when your change should be close to a dollar? And who knows how many folks pay with cash and don't pay attention! The $$ will add up over time. It's like a convenience fee for using Cash... WTH?! THE OWNER IS Mas Mex -- a restaurant group formed by investor CapitalSpring. This chain is Mas Mex Group, IS now headed by CEO John Iannucci. Other restaurants Cheesecake Factory, Logans Roadhouse. I don't support businesses such as these pushing its own agenda to not go to the bank to get change to run its business. Its a cute place but i will not be going back. Plenty of other places with good Mexican food that run their business with coin change. read more

To start this place is noisier than Chuckie Cheese! We started with chips and salsa. The salsa is different, not very good, IMO. We ordered drinks, a Margarita and a Paloma. The grapefruit in the Paloma tasted old and the Margarita tasted like it barely had any tequila. Chicken enchiladas and beef enchiladas with rice and beans for our meals. They were ok, nothing special, the beans were good. The reason I will never go back, the NOISE level, and the lighting is on blast. It's so loud in that restaurant you can't hear yourself talk let alone the person sitting across from you. Not for me, never again. read more

Delicious I had such a good time here. The food and the atmosphere does remind me of being on vacation in Mexico. It was a Thursday evening and they had the patio open it was full and they had a steady flow of people inside as well. The service was a good and timely I didn't have any issue and the salsa is so delicious it's so fresh oh my goodness I'm so happy that we got complimentary chips and salsa read more

Came in here with my mom and daughter for the first time recently and we were sat in a back area where it was super hot with really loud industrial fans. I said something to the effect of.. why are you seating us here when there are open tables in the nice AC section and we were mumbled something about something not working. It was really uncomfortable and frustrating. Food was not great. Won't be back. Kids get a sombrero which is probably the only reason I am not giving one star. read more

The moment you step inside, you're immersed in a lively atmosphere filled with vibrant colors. Since we had reservations, we were seated right away with no hassle. The menu offered an impressive variety of food and drink options, giving us plenty to choose from. We were served complimentary chips and salsa shortly after sitting down. Service was prompt and attentive our drinks arrived quickly, and while the food took a reasonable amount of time, it was clearly worth the wait. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. read more

This place definitely has the potential to be great. The location is convenient, the décor is fun, and parking is easy. We've visited twice since it opened, once for a weekday lunch and another during peak dinner hours, and both times the service felt slower than necessary. Foodwise, I enjoyed our lunch visit much more than dinner. The fajitas plate, regional tacos, and flautas were flavorful and enjoyable. During our dinner visit, we tried the fajita salad and shared a street taco plate, and both dishes were pretty bland and underwhelming. The kids' meals (chicken nuggets and fries) also felt pricey for what they were. While there are some bright spots, and I hope the consistency and service improve, because it's one of those places you want to love, but it misses the mark for me. 'Til next time. read more

Very nice and inviting restaurant. The colors and decor makes everything feel so authentic. I had happy hour (3-6pm) and regular priced eating. This location has a great happy nenu. A beautiful bar area with full drinking options. We ordered margaritas (strawberry, mango, pepino and Jamaica), salmon problano (grilled nicely and delicious not spicy at all), Mexican corn (delicious), quesadillas on corn shell (a great happy special). The food was delicious including the chips and sala. The server was very kind and attentive to be newer. He helped us celebrate my aunt's birthday properly. The decor in this place was nice. The bathrooms had my favorite artist Frieda Khalo on the walls. Made my heart smile. I will definitely return. read more

Fiesta Hours Review! This was my first time to the Oak Brook location and was thoroughly impressed by the interior design. The inside transports you with layers of fun colors, textures, and patterns throughout. They create pockets of "instagramable" moments for guests to use as a photo op. I visited with a party of five and took advantage of their great "fiesta hours" deals. I liked that there were three margarita flavors to choose from. I enjoyed the House Marg the most, then Strawberry Jalapeño, then Mango as it was just slightly too sweet for me. For food, we got a handful of appetizers to share and enjoy independently. The group's favorites were the Queso Fundido, Chorizo Fiesta Nachos, and Tuna Stack. I got the Cheese Quesadilla for myself and it could have used more cheese. Overall, the happy hour deals and the variety of the offerings were great. Our server did a great job checking in on us and being patient as we ordered food in waves. This was a great spot to catch up and enjoy some good food & drinks. read more

This was the cutest place! They have a huge open patio out front and even and enclosed one in the back with a bar. Their salsa was so great not spicy over powering so you could appreciate the ingredients. Lots of stuff for beans here too. They use fruit and some like extras in their sauces which made everything so one of a kind. The chicken flautos were my faaaave and this new pineapple desert we got to try ooommmg I coulda ate a whole pie of it. Everyone there was smiling and friendly making sure we enjoyed out experience, top notch service. read more

Just like the other Fat Rosie's location I have been to, this one also had several birthday celebrations on the Saturday night. It is always fun when the whole place joins in to celebrate in singing and cheering for the celebrants. This visit was not planned, so we did not have reservations. We just got lucky that a couple was just leaving when I walked past the bar area. The service was great. The bartenders were efficient and friendly. We had the QUESABIRRIA and the COCHINITA PIBIL. Both dishes were delicious. The sauce that came with the COCHINITA PIBIL dish is VERY HOT. You've been warned! The drinks are good, the place is clean, and there is a huge parking lot in the strip mall. I will come back here again. I enjoy the vibe, the food, and the drinks of Fat Rosie's. I was really excited to try Fat Rosie's! Even without a reservation on a Saturday evening, they were able to seat me quickly, which I appreciated. At first, I was given a table in the back room, but it was freezing, so I asked to move to the bar area instead -- much better! The atmosphere overall was lively, energetic, and fun. Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't live up to the great vibe. I ordered a Mojito, which was overly sour, even after adding blueberry and strawberry. I also had the chicken fajitas, but they were far too salty and lacked flavor. While I loved the atmosphere and service, the food just wasn't for me, so I don't think I'll be returning. read more

A co worker and I after work decided to stop in and grab something to eat. I'm always down for Tacos so I definetly was excited to give them a try. We were seated right away as the dinner rush hadn't started. They did have a photo wall and it think the decor fit the theme. While we were looking at the menu they brought out some chips and salasa. The chips were good but they werent evenly salted so some had no salt and others had all the salt. I decided to get 3 beef tacos on flour tortilla with cheese and lettuce and a side of sour cream with and my co worker got the Butternut Squash Enchilladas. My Co Worker really enjoyed her food. Mine was good very flavorful but a bit greasy. The price point was good and it is somewhere I can see myself grabbing tacos for lunch. read more

I love this dish, and this was my first time ordering it for takeout. Unfortunately, this is exactly why I'm sometimes hesitant to order takeout. The portion size of the Pollo Al Chipotle was about half of what you get when dining in. I was really disappointed. It came with only two pieces of chicken breast and what was essentially one scoop of mashed potatoes--just enough to eat with the chicken. Ironically, they gave me a generous amount of the fried onion strings, even though you usually don't get that many when dining in. That said, the food itself was delicious. They also have some of the best thin, crispy chips, and the salsa that comes with them is always fresh and flavorful. The service is always good, and the ambiance is really nice as well. I would have gladly given this place 5 stars if the takeout portion had been comparable to the dine-in portion. read more

If happiness had a zip code, it might just be Fat Rosie's in Oak Brook. We came for dinner and somehow the appetizers nearly stole the whole show. Every bite disappeared way faster than we planned, and we immediately started debating whether we should've just ordered even more apps. Zero regrets. Now let's talk about the real MVP: the guava margarita. Whoever decided guava belonged in a margarita deserves a raise. Sweet, refreshing, perfectly balanced, and dangerously easy to drink--I'm pretty sure I spent half the meal convincing myself I didn't need a second... then ordered one anyway. The atmosphere is colorful, lively, and just plain fun. It's the kind of place where it's impossible to leave in a bad mood. Great food, great drinks, and the perfect spot for a night out with friends or family. Come hungry, order plenty of appetizers, and don't even think about skipping the guava margarita. Your future self will thank you. read more

I've been to a few Fat Rosie locations further out and was SO happy to see one closer to me, so I had to go try it! Went with my bestie and we shared a few apps and got the fajitas (shrimp/steak/chicken) to share as well. Food was very well seasoned and came out quickly! For apps we got the empanadas, sopes & costal de camaron. Sopes were easily a 10/10! I could get two of those apps and that would be an amazing meal lol Coctel was good but the juice was off a bit - I'd say 7/10 and the empanadas were amazing! We had a great time overall and drinks were good but not enough alcohol IMO. The only issue we had was we sat on the patio area and bugs were SOO bad!! They were crawling on the walls, going into our food - everywhere! Luckily we were almost done by the time they came out because that definitely gave us the ick! I know it's not the restaurants fault because they were right next to a pond but it was still not appetizing. We will def be back - eating inside this time lol read more

This is a new location that opened up in Oak Brook. I was excited to see that a Fat Rosie's was opening closer to me. The food and service at the Schaumburg location was amazing. My friend and I came here on Saturday Evening. The place was jammed packed. But, we were able to be seated in the back area at the bar. Nice and spacious, decor is impeccable, live music band was playing. The atmosphere was really nice. We were seated in the bar area enclosed patio. Beautiful view of the lake. The food and drinks were a 4 out of 10. I ordered the strawberry margarita and my friend ordered the mango jalapeno margarita. The drinks were super strong which gave me an instant headache. Complimentary salsa and chips. The salsa was bland and watery. I ordered the fried fish taco with avocado-habañero aioli & topped with lime cabbage & pico de gallo. Very disappointed with the food at this location. My fish came cold, soggy and not fried like I ordered. I called over the bartender to have my drink and food taking off the bill. This place is overrated and not worth the money. Really hope they improve and brush up on the culinary skills. read more

Mother's Day 2026 @ 5:30. We had reservations, and we were seated promptly. Shortly after being seated, warm chips and salsa were dropped off at our table. We were not approached by a server, and after 10 minutes, we went to the hostess stand to request a server. Shortly after, a very apologetic server came over. He was very nice, and must have apologized 3-4 times. So a shaky start. Followed by very good service and very good food. We started with the Mexican Corn appetizer, which was yummy. Hubby had a steak fajita bowl. Daughter had the black bean hash tacos ( vegan option for those who are vegan). I had the chicken burrito bowl. All of the entrees were delicious; serving sizes were generous. Food was served hot. Our waiter offered us shots to compensate for the lack of approach. We don't drink, so we declined the offer, but he really wanted to make it up to us, so he offered us dessert. Hubby had an ice cream taco, which looked amazing, and tasted amazing too. I highly recommend Fat Rosie's. Very good food. Fair prices. Nice size portions. Overall good service. read more

I'm quite surprised by all the good reviews. We went last weekend and thought it was quite bland. The only good thing - in my eyes - were the warm chips. They had plenty of salt (which I like) and they gave us a large helping of salsa. That's where all the "good" ended. For drinks - I got the Purple Basil Margarita. Yes - it's large and has a good taste, but lacking in alcohol. For entrees - we got the shrimp fajitas - which were typical fajitas so average. I got the TAMPEQUEÑA - a house specialty of grilled skirt steak with one Enchilada Roja. I asked for the steak to be medium, but it came out charred on the outside (which is fine) but on such a thin steak, that made it very well done. That pretty much killed the flavor. So many better mexican restaurants in the area - I would recommend skipping this one. read more

I received an invitation for a complimentary pre- opening lunch. The food was all very, very good. Rating for the food would be 5 stars. The service brought the review down to 2 stars for me. IMO, the servers and food runners need much more training. I observed the food being delivered to the wrong tables 4 times. We were served someone else's food twice and our food went to the wrong table. We waved to the runners and called them over to our table. I've never worked in a restaurant but isn't the table number written on each order? There was also confusion as to whether or not a beverage was included with the complimentary meal. The woman who handed us the beverage menu said "Yes, any of the beverages on the menu are included with the complimentary meal. Great! When we order a mock cocktail, we were told that all of the alcoholic drinks were included for no charge but we would have to pay for Mocktails! How in the world does that make sense? I asked our server to check on that. She left and when she returned she said that all alcohol and Mocktails would be charged. No charge for soft drinks. That, finally, made sense. I asked at the front desk if I could get change for a $10.00 bill so I could leave my server a tip for the complimentary meal. The young man gave me a "dear in the headlight stare" and said "No, we don't have any cash." By this time I was exhausted with the lack of service so I just returned to my seat. The final lack of service.. my companion had a full glass of lemonade as we were leaving so she asked for a "to go" cup to take the lemonade with her. Our server brings her a kiddy cup. Obviously too small to hold all of the lemonade. Since this was a pre-opening event, I thought the restaurant would hand out a questionnaire asking about how our meal was so they could understand what went well and what needs improvement. They did not ask for suggestions. read more

Salsa and guacamole are the best! After that, it goes downhill very quickly. First, and foremost, they can't split a check at this location. The server claimed he had no way of splitting a check at our table of 12! And, for a table of 12, he could only take 3 cards! We didn't find this out until after dinner. There were 5 families at the table, the check couldn't be split and we could only use 3 cards? In this day and age, how can they not be more accommodating? We are going to be exchanging money for a few days after this nightmare. We will not be coming back again soon because of this customer service nightmare. Nobody was happy with their food choices, especially, the Chili Relleno which was almost all breading. The tacos are small. There are much better places for Mexican food with better pricing, better service and, certainly, not so loud! read more

If you're looking for a new go to place. Then, come to Fat Rosie's. From the second that you walk in, you know that you've found something special! Everyone is friendly, kind, and inviting! It feels as if you're appart of one big family. I love that! The decorations are trendy and festive, the atmosphere is exciting and inviting. There's plenty of seating inside or outside. The food is delicious and you leave happy and full! So, next time you're in town. Come on in for an experience that you'll never forget! Chips and salsa- The chips are crispy, salty, and warm. You couldn't ask for better chips. They are paper thin and a true work of art. The salsa is zesty, smokey, and has just enough heat to keep you smiling. I definitely ate every last oz of it! SHRIMP TACO PLATE Sautéed Tiger shrimp topped with arugula, pickled red onions & drizzled with jalapeño-garlic aioli In With rice & beans. The shrimp tacos were excellent! The shrimp were perfectly seasoned. A little overcooked. But, the crispy outside and seasoning made up for it. The pickled red onions were crunchy, crisp, and refreshing! I loved the pop of acidity. It paired so nicely with the richness of the shrimp. The arugula was spicy and bright. It brought that touch of heat that made this dish so well balanced. The jalapeño aïoli was creamy, dreamy, and delicious! It had a refreshing pop of flavor and heat! A true masterpiece. I could eat that on just about anything. Pure heaven! read more

Late birthday lunch at this new location. Plesantly greeted, although we were prompted to make a reservation. We didn't need a reservation. We were seated immediately. The decor and theme are consistent throughout all the locations. Vibrant colors, with Mexican theme art with a variety of seating options. There was ample bar space, hightops and standard seating. They even had an outdoor patio. Servers were friendly and knowledgable. The food was excellent. Chips and salsa are standard while browsing the menu. The chips were fresh and warm and the salsa tasted homemade. We added guacamole. I usually get fajitas but I wanted to try non-steak tacos. I settled on the shrimp, chicken and Mahi Mahi tacos. Of the three, the Mahi tacos were the best, then the chicken and finally the shrimp. But they all were tasty, each with their own flavor profile. My wife loves ground beef tacos, so she went for the ground beef taco plate. Two strawberry margaritas and two beers later, we took a shot of tequila.......Happy hour was a very favorable time to come to this location. The only issue, we had to ask for the check. We didn't see our server for a while, so I had to go find her...........This was minimal. We'll definitely be returning... read more

I'm really surprised at the positive reviews? Chips were great and drinks looked good but didn't try it. Service was not very friendly or attentive considering it was 2pm on a Friday and about a quarter filled. Food was terrible, chicken in the tacos was bland and cut into chunks, not shredded and no sauce? The black bean hash tacos were just black beans in a taco with little flavor. Rice and beans were average. Nothing tasted fresh or spiced well. Even the guac had wilted tomato's as a garnish.
