Mother's Day 2026 @ 5:30. We had reservations, and we were seated promptly. Shortly after being seated, warm chips and salsa were dropped off at our table. We were not approached by a server, and after 10 minutes, we went to the hostess stand to request a server. Shortly after, a very apologetic server came over. He was very nice, and must have apologized 3-4 times. So a shaky start. Followed by very good service and very good food. We started with the Mexican Corn appetizer, which was yummy. Hubby had a steak fajita bowl. Daughter had the black bean hash tacos ( vegan option for those who are vegan). I had the chicken burrito bowl. All of the entrees were delicious; serving sizes were generous. Food was served hot. Our waiter offered us shots to compensate for the lack of approach. We don't drink, so we declined the offer, but he really wanted to make it up to us, so he offered us dessert. Hubby had an ice cream taco, which looked amazing, and tasted amazing too. This place definitely has the potential to be great. The location is convenient, the décor is fun, and parking is easy. We've visited twice since it opened, once for a weekday lunch and another during peak dinner hours, and both times the service felt slower than necessary. Foodwise, I enjoyed our lunch visit much more than dinner. The fajitas plate, regional tacos, and flautas were flavorful and enjoyable. During our dinner visit, we tried the fajita salad and shared a street taco plate, and both dishes were pretty bland and underwhelming. The kids' meals (chicken nuggets and fries) also felt pricey for what they were. Very nice and inviting restaurant. The colors and decor makes everything feel so authentic. I had happy hour (3-6pm) and regular priced eating. This location has a great happy nenu. A beautiful bar area with full drinking options. We ordered margaritas (strawberry, mango, pepino and Jamaica), salmon problano (grilled nicely and delicious not spicy at all), Mexican corn (delicious), quesadillas on corn shell (a great happy special). The food was delicious including the chips and sala. The server was very kind and attentive to be newer. He helped us celebrate my aunt's birthday properly. The decor in this place was nice. Fiesta Hours Review! This was my first time to the Oak Brook location and was thoroughly impressed by the interior design. The inside transports you with layers of fun colors, textures, and patterns throughout. They create pockets of "instagramable" moments for guests to use as a photo op. I visited with a party of five and took advantage of their great "fiesta hours" deals. I liked that there were three margarita flavors to choose from. I enjoyed the House Marg the most, then Strawberry Jalapeño, then Mango as it was just slightly too sweet for me. For food, we got a handful of appetizers to share and enjoy independently. The group's favorites were the Queso Fundido, Chorizo Fiesta Nachos, and Tuna Stack. I got the Cheese Quesadilla for myself and it could have used more cheese. Overall, the happy hour deals and the variety of the offerings were great. Our server did a great job checking in on us and being patient as we ordered food in waves. I brought my family to show them the great ambience and experience but unfortunately they didn't get it. We didn't get chips and salsa like everyone around us. We had to ask. Just like the other Fat Rosie's location I have been to, this one also had several birthday celebrations on the Saturday night. It is always fun when the whole place joins in to celebrate in singing and cheering for the celebrants. This visit was not planned, so we did not have reservations. We just got lucky that a couple was just leaving when I walked past the bar area. The service was great. The bartenders were efficient and friendly. We had the QUESABIRRIA and the COCHINITA PIBIL. Both dishes were delicious. The sauce that came with the COCHINITA PIBIL dish is VERY HOT. You've been warned! The drinks are good, the place is clean, and there is a huge parking lot in the strip mall. I will come back here again. I enjoy the vibe, the food, and the drinks of Fat Rosie's. I was really excited to try Fat Rosie's! Even without a reservation on a Saturday evening, they were able to seat me quickly, which I appreciated. At first, I was given a table in the back room, but it was freezing, so I asked to move to the bar area instead -- much better! The atmosphere overall was lively, energetic, and fun. Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't live up to the great vibe. I ordered a Mojito, which was overly sour, even after adding blueberry and strawberry. I also had the chicken fajitas, but they were far too salty and lacked flavor. While I loved the atmosphere and service, the food just wasn't for me, so I don't think I'll be returning. read more

A co worker and I after work decided to stop in and grab something to eat. I'm always down for Tacos so I definetly was excited to give them a try. We were seated right away as the dinner rush hadn't started. They did have a photo wall and it think the decor fit the theme. While we were looking at the menu they brought out some chips and salasa. The chips were good but they werent evenly salted so some had no salt and others had all the salt. I decided to get 3 beef tacos on flour tortilla with cheese and lettuce and a side of sour cream with and my co worker got the Butternut Squash Enchilladas. My Co Worker really enjoyed her food. Mine was good very flavorful but a bit greasy. The price point was good and it is somewhere I can see myself grabbing tacos for lunch. read more

We were on a search for a decent Mexican restaurant since our favorite one on the north side closed down and the one across the street was mediocre. We discovered Fat Rosie's while scrolling Facebook. Of course we read the reviews and look at the pictures. We ordered takeout first just to see. The chicken tamales were amazing! They were a nice size. They gave us plenty of sauce and wasn't stingy with the chicken. It was very filling too. So we dined in one evening. Everything was great. The service was excellent. The waiter gave us recommendations. I wasn't certain about the chipotle sauce in the dish I ordered, so he gave us a sample. Very good! The ambiance is decent. A well decorated Mexican restaurant. We think the music is too LOUD. We have to practically yell to talk to each other like we're at a concert. We went again last night. The food and drinks are so good. We found our new favorite Mexican restaurant. It is a whole lot better than the one across the street. Everything is on point...the service, food, drinks and ambiance. This restaurant gets 5 stars from us, even though the music is too loud. They get a pass because everything else is amazing. So of course we ask the million dollar question: Will be back despite the loud music? The answer is a LOUD and resounding yes, lol! We will be repeat customers for life. I'm quite surprised by all the good reviews. We went last weekend and thought it was quite bland. The only good thing - in my eyes - were the warm chips. They had plenty of salt (which I like) and they gave us a large helping of salsa. That's where all the "good" ended. For drinks - I got the Purple Basil Margarita. Yes - it's large and has a good taste, but lacking in alcohol. For entrees - we got the shrimp fajitas - which were typical fajitas so average. I got the TAMPEQUEÑA - a house specialty of grilled skirt steak with one Enchilada Roja. I asked for the steak to be medium, but it came out charred on the outside (which is fine) but on such a thin steak, that made it very well done. That pretty much killed the flavor. So many better mexican restaurants in the area - I would recommend skipping this one. read more

I've been to a few Fat Rosie locations further out and was SO happy to see one closer to me, so I had to go try it! Went with my bestie and we shared a few apps and got the fajitas (shrimp/steak/chicken) to share as well. Food was very well seasoned and came out quickly! For apps we got the empanadas, sopes & costal de camaron. Sopes were easily a 10/10! I could get two of those apps and that would be an amazing meal lol Coctel was good but the juice was off a bit - I'd say 7/10 and the empanadas were amazing! We had a great time overall and drinks were good but not enough alcohol IMO. The only issue we had was we sat on the patio area and bugs were SOO bad!! They were crawling on the walls, going into our food - everywhere! Luckily we were almost done by the time they came out because that definitely gave us the ick! This is a new location that opened up in Oak Brook. I was excited to see that a Fat Rosie's was opening closer to me. The food and service at the Schaumburg location was amazing. My friend and I came here on Saturday Evening. The place was jammed packed. But, we were able to be seated in the back area at the bar. Nice and spacious, decor is impeccable, live music band was playing. The atmosphere was really nice. We were seated in the bar area enclosed patio. Beautiful view of the lake. The food and drinks were a 4 out of 10. I ordered the strawberry margarita and my friend ordered the mango jalapeno margarita. The drinks were super strong which gave me an instant headache. Complimentary salsa and chips. The salsa was bland and watery. I ordered the fried fish taco with avocado-habañero aioli & topped with lime cabbage & pico de gallo. Very disappointed with the food at this location. My fish came cold, soggy and not fried like I ordered. I called over the bartender to have my drink and food taking off the bill. This place is overrated and not worth the money. Really hope they improve and brush up on the culinary skills. read more

I received an invitation for a complimentary pre- opening lunch. The food was all very, very good. Rating for the food would be 5 stars. The service brought the review down to 2 stars for me. IMO, the servers and food runners need much more training. I observed the food being delivered to the wrong tables 4 times. We were served someone else's food twice and our food went to the wrong table. We waved to the runners and called them over to our table. I've never worked in a restaurant but isn't the table number written on each order? There was also confusion as to whether or not a beverage was included with the complimentary meal. The woman who handed us the beverage menu said "Yes, any of the beverages on the menu are included with the complimentary meal. Great! When we order a mock cocktail, we were told that all of the alcoholic drinks were included for no charge but we would have to pay for Mocktails! How in the world does that make sense? I asked our server to check on that. She left and when she returned she said that all alcohol and Mocktails would be charged. No charge for soft drinks. That, finally, made sense. I asked at the front desk if I could get change for a $10.00 bill so I could leave my server a tip for the complimentary meal. The young man gave me a "dear in the headlight stare" and said "No, we don't have any cash." By this time I was exhausted with the lack of service so I just returned to my seat. The final lack of service.. my companion had a full glass of lemonade as we were leaving so she asked for a "to go" cup to take the lemonade with her. Our server brings her a kiddy cup. Obviously too small to hold all of the lemonade. Since this was a pre-opening event, I thought the restaurant would hand out a questionnaire asking about how our meal was so they could understand what went well and what needs improvement. Late birthday lunch at this new location. Plesantly greeted, although we were prompted to make a reservation. We didn't need a reservation. We were seated immediately. The decor and theme are consistent throughout all the locations. Vibrant colors, with Mexican theme art with a variety of seating options. There was ample bar space, hightops and standard seating. They even had an outdoor patio. Servers were friendly and knowledgable. The food was excellent. Chips and salsa are standard while browsing the menu. The chips were fresh and warm and the salsa tasted homemade. We added guacamole. I usually get fajitas but I wanted to try non-steak tacos. I settled on the shrimp, chicken and Mahi Mahi tacos. Of the three, the Mahi tacos were the best, then the chicken and finally the shrimp. But they all were tasty, each with their own flavor profile. My wife loves ground beef tacos, so she went for the ground beef taco plate. Two strawberry margaritas and two beers later, we took a shot of tequila.......Happy hour was a very favorable time to come to this location. The only issue, we had to ask for the check. Saw her one time after we ordered, could've ordered two more rounds of mags but she was nowhere to be found. Would you like some chips? Sure....crickets never saw them. "Talk to me" ok what would you like me to say? Can I order some drinks? She was nice but spent more time looking into the mirror over our table than taking our order. Personally, I found some of the food a little too spicy ~ but that's just me. Also, fajitas usually come out of the kitchen sizzling ~ but that didn't happen here. When we arrived it was chaotic at the hostess desk. We actually witnessed someone taking some one else's reservation. A name was called and a party followed the hostess just as the person, with that name, came to the desk to respond to their name being called. The hostess said, "Yes, that is your party." He responded that he did not know anyone that they were seating. Oops. We were seated on the back patio which was very nice. It was on the loud side, but inside the restaurant it was also very loud. What I found unusual, our server came to take our drink order, asked if we were ready to order ~ which I was but my husband was not ~ walked away and went behind the bar to become the bartender. I don't know if this is specific to this chain, but I thought it most unusual. When I pointed it out to my husband, he thought I was joking and turned around to see her just mixing and shaking away. read more
