I had a wonderful experience at Fat Cat Rescue where I found my two new companions Friskers and Colby. The staff was friendly and patient as I was onsite for 2 hours looking at all the kitties. I originally went in to see one pair, but decided against them and chose two others. The staff, especially Stephanie, supported me throughout the process- even after I brought them home. What I like about Fat Cat is their commitment to finding the right match for the cats in their care- they genuinely care about the animals and are not afraid to say 'no' to potential adopters that are not the right fit. We adopted our cat from Fat Cat Rescue in April. From the get-go they were amazing. We worked with Stephanie and she met us and was kind, up-front, friendly, and flexible with us. We explained what our household was and she helped us narrow down our selection to cats that would be good with kids and a high energy household. She knew all of the cats very well and it was heart warming to meet them. We accidentally met Gabriel in the indoor/outdoor cat area and on our way home to think about who to adopt we decided on him. We met them the next day and took him home. They gave us a super sweet goody-bag/care kit for him. They also gave us a month of flea and tick and a super sweet "Who Rescued Who?" plaque. We would recommend them to ANYONE! Even now, 8 months later, they still help us with questions and ask about Gabe. 20/10 would be my rating! read more

My family adopted a cat from this rescue in June and she has been such a wonderful addition to our home. The love that Kaye and her volunteers have for the cats in their care is hugely evident every time I interact with the rescue. They have a big house in Wadsworth for the cats and they are so happy, I was in kitty heaven when I visited looking for my cat. I sat down and cats just jumped into my lap purring and being so friendly. There are adoption events at the Pet Supplies Plus in Waukegan and they have other events often (all dates and events are posted on their Facebook page). Appointments are available upon request if you want to go to the house and choose your kitty there. They have cats of all ages, and they are ALL very friendly! This is such a nice rescue. You can tell that the volunteers care for the animals a lot. I found my 4 year old Tuxedo cat from here. Stephanie kept in contact with me daily and every couple of weeks afterwards to make sure my cat and I were adjusting well. She answered any questions that I had. This is the best place to adopt a cat!! I adopted one 3.5 years ago and another 6 months ago. The people there are very nice and friendly. After adopting my cats, they have kept in contact with me till this day! They take the process of adopting very serious...which shows they truly care about who the cats will go to. I've visited a couple times and you can just feel the love the volunteers have for these cats. After adopting they give you a bag of dry food, canned food, treats, a toy, a bed, and a blanket. I love Fat Cat Rescue!! When my family was ready to adopt kittens, we knew that we wanted to go through a rescue, but didn't know where to go. A friend of mine highly recommended Fat Cat Rescue. The entire process, from the adoption application, phone calls, and emails went very smoothly. I love how they try to pair their cats with the right family and home. All the volunteers are so friendly and knowledgeable. From the moment that we walked into the yellow cat house, we can tell that all the cats were very loved, and well taken care of. The place was also very clean and warm. Then we found our kittens, fell in love, and a week later brought them home. As new cat owners, I was overjoyed, but also nervous with so many questions. Stephanie, the volunteer who helped us has been so wonderful and reassuring, continues to check up on our girls, gives us lots of advice, and answers all my questions.
