Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. This is my go to Mexican restaurant when I am not looking for some cervezas to go along with my meal. I have had takeout and eaten here a lot since they've opened. Salsa and chips are always good, guacamole is outstanding, along with their jalapeño poppers and queso as appetizers. I usually go for the steak and chorizo burrito, but have also enjoyed their chile relleno, fajitas, and tacos. Service is always good and everyone is always friendly. Had a last minute urge to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with some Fat Burrito. Considering the fact it was 430 pm and in the thick of Covid 19, the take out orders were many. I will tell you I enjoyed it!! Carne Asada was excellent and our waitress was very friendly! Went in on a Wednesday around lunch and there was only one table open! The doorway was also crowded with people waiting for takeout! To me, it seems worth the wait. read more

Never been here before, so decided to come in on Saturday night. Sat down and ate 1 chicken taco. It was really good so decided to order 1 chicken taco and 2 steak tacos to go. Definitely coming back especially when I don't feel like taking a trip to Chicago for tacos! read more

I stopped by this place after reading the reviews on Yelp and they did not disappoint. The Spanish rice and ranchero sauce would make me come back, let alone the burrito. The food was fresh and the portions were plenty. I had the Spanish rice and chicken burrito (regular size), and there was plenty left over to make a second meal. I am always looking for something new that isn't a chain. If I slowed down a little maybe I would see more of them. I was tired in a hurry and hungry. This fit the bill. I sat and ordered a steak burrito with guac and sour cream. No menu needed. He brought out my Pepsi and chips as I heard the grill fire up with the steak. In no time I had the burro and it was piping hot. Great flavor and very plump. The chips were average, but the salsa was nice and spicy. Great little find. Will definitely be back. read more

Excellent Mexican food in crown point. I usually judge the quality of Mexican food by how well the rice is made and this is one of the best in the area. The service is always quick and friendly. Even when it is super busy the wait is not long at all because of the fast service. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the space could be larger and updated. Cheap, fast, and friendly. Never had a problem with this place except for my stomach size after eating one of their 40 pound burritos.

This has turned into one of my favorites close to home. I've still not been able to conquer the fat burrito in one sitting, I may accept defeat and start ordering the regular size. The over salty taste I had with the first visit has not been duplicated. All the food is good, the guys are great, if I had a complaint it's that they need more space for tables. read more

Very good and much better than any sort of cookie cutter Mexican restaurant it actually has a distinct taste very flavorful steak and chicken I was taken back on how good it was and also the portion size. I've driven by this place a few times but never stopped because the name "Fat Burrito" I thought was a Tex-Mex or American-style Mexican food. I WAS WRONG. This is a great place. Very authentic. The guys who run the restaurant are from Puebla, Mexico. I tried the pork burrito, suizo style. The meat was about as flavorful as I have ever tasted. Chips and salsa if you dine in. The salsa is GREAT! Place is a little small. But, that's ok the service is quick and a table will clear right away. Good choice for authentic Mexican food. read more

This place is not bad depending on the day. Some times I've come in and had a wonderful meal, others I have received what looked like a quick, poorly put together meal that didn't taste so fresh. All around, I think it's a good place if you are craving Mexican and it is the closest place. read more

This place is amazing. It's not 100% authentic but it's probably as close as you will get in crown point. I really enjoyed the steak tacos. The guacamole was alright. But it might have just been the avocados weren't ripe yet. I'll def try it again just in case. read more
