It's not Lalas here in Austin but its AOK. One of our folks said it's a cross between Lalas and Deep Eddy's. I agree. From what we read and heard from our ride share driver (more to this story later) it gets really busy late at night. We probably spent maybe $30 drinking the Saturday afternoon away, made new friends. No food here so we end up leaving when we start starving and then end up coming back for a nightcap. Let me start off by saying that California has a "dive bar" culture. Despite what most people see on TV about the glamorous night life in Los Angeles, that's not 99% of SoCal. And to be perfectly honest, I think it's kind of funny how bougie the north shore pretends to be. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of nice and seemingly upscale establishments to visit around here so I'm not trying to offend anyone. But sometimes you just want to grab a drink in a place that's not full of pretentious people who are trying too hard. We all live in a glorified swamp, people. Accept it. Very simply: a good pour, good music, friendly patrons, and good service. That's really all that matters. From the atmosphere to the food to the staff to the neighborhood visitors, I can honestly say, this place is awesome. The food was amazing, the bartenders were sweet, there was karaoke going on that night, which was so much fun! The vibe felt more like we were hanging out and having a good time with friends rather than just going out to dinner/to a bar - in the best way possible.
